Thousands of white people need to jump turnstyles en masse to send a message that we dont want their fucking special treatment and as an act of solidarity with the black and Hispanic community it wasnt NYC, but I used to live in a major city and took public transit every day to and from work. My monthly pass gave me unlimited access to trains and buses, I just had to tap my card on the turnstile thing. Almost every day I would tap someone in who was either waiting to get in or was having trouble with their daily/weekly pass because it was out of $$. Id usually do it as I was leaving a station for someone who was trying to get in to get on a train or bus. if I had to guess Id say 75% of the time a transit cop would tell me I wasnt allowed to do that and Id either just flat out ignore them or stand there pretending to fiddle with my headphones and say what for as long as it took for the person to get past the gate. To be honest I was probably drunk or st*ned half the time anyway. I did this pretty much every day for about two years. Really not that special or brave and definitely nowhere as close to the mass protest scale of things that youre talking about but its an alternative for people who might be too nervous to fully put themselves out there. --- A.M.A.B. ~The Outlaw Country of Posting~ |
