PC budget is $400. I'd be upgrading from i5 4590 GTX 1070 16 gbs RAM Can i make significant upgrades with that budget? Mainly CPU and MoBo upgrades. Also thinking about getting some Adidas Ultraboost shoes. They're a little over $100 on the Adidas website right now, and i've heard they're super comfortable, which is what i need for work. --- |

The mom looked at them with such disdain. You see, most my family is from the Philippines, but my great grandpa immigrated there from China, so my family speaks tagalog and Hokkien, which they pronounce Fukien, a common spelling variation. I've always felt kinda torn between two worlds, because i don't LOOK Filipino, I look more Chinese, but i speak way more tagalog than Fukien. Culturally my family has a weird mix of both Filipino and Chinese traditions, but i never really knew much about my Chinese background even though it's such a prominent part of my blood. I just feel like that little scene gave me some SMALL insight into my cultural background that i had been missing all my life. --- |

People who usually say "Rice is so easy to cook on the stove, why do you need a rice cooker?!" are usually the people who have never used one, and that's okay. Now i can't speak for the Instant pots that's trending now and how well they cook their rice, but my family always used Tiger brand rice cookers, i believe Zojirushi(sp) is comparable. They're usually under $100 depending on the size you purchase. Cooking rice literally becomes just a "plug and forget" sort of thing. You measure/rinse the rice, measure the water and hit the button and forget about it. Oh you forgot that you started it an hour ago? No problem, rice cooker has a "keep warm" setting that keeps the rice perfectly hot without making it all soggy. Keeps for hours. Oh you're done with the rice but don't want to put it away yet? Unplug the rice cooker and leave it overnight. Next day, plug it back in, throw in a tiny bit of water, set it to cook again, and the rice will be nice and hot, and again will stay perfectly cooked. Now i get that it's an extra appliance, but it's a godsend for people who cook rice often. I'm curious to see how the instant pot holds up to these stand alone rice cookers, so at least you could have different uses for it. --- |

The other areas that need help are unlikely to clear up on their own and management can see if my "at station" is lower than other clusters, which means they'll take my people anyway. The associates also need to hit a certain rate of speed, which has recently increased. And i'd also potentially be screwing over the other PGs by telling my people to slow down. AND everything in the aisles needs to be scanned down at the end of the night, which could lead to me and the other PGs staying later. Idk, its just hard. My hands are kinda tied. --- |
