Just a brief history lesson for you. The US Government also undergirded them with an economic floor and the seeds to plant and Equipment to get their farm-based businesses started and again this was ALL FREE FROM GOVERNMENT.

what do you have against ayn rand? haven't heard that paul ryan was a fan of hers. isn't paul ryan pro life though? don't think rand was.

Ayn Rand was a nutcase and Paul Ryan embraced her idiotic ideologies. Not sure if Ryan is pro-life or not but he does embrace Rand's stance that Gov and tax dollars should NOT help those less fortunate. In her book "Atlas Shrugged" Rand described a dystopian United States in which private businesses suffer under increasingly burdensome laws and regulations.

The short answer is Black people. If we look at the time line from the New Deal era of the 1930s until the 1960s, no one White had opposed Gov Programs that helped pull people and the country out of the throes of the Great Depression. Now when Black people began gaining access to Gov Programs in the 1960s, which btw were nowhere near as generous as the ones prior that helped Whites, White people suddenly had an issue with Gov Programs

Go research the late GOP strategist Lee Atwater who said: "Now, youre talking about cutting taxes, and all these things youre talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, Blacks get hurt worse than Whites." This quote from Atwater explains why the GOP loves cutting taxes.

I put it in the fridge early Saturday evening, a day earlier than I'm "supposed" to, and the freaking inside is still frozen solid. :(

I gave up trying to get the damn neck out after like half an hour (including soaking it in cool water for 15 minutes), just gonna let it cook for an hour then try again, maybe....

At least the giblet bag was right at the edge of the neck hole, so it came out without much effort.

I usually put in the lower part of the fridge on Mon week of TG then I set it out on my countertop on Weds until I'm ready to cook it TG day.

it would never happen
people with stocks in real estate etc wouldn't let it happen

it would basically end up being a way to make the middle and lower classes be the same
rich people don't get taxed period

People in America need to understand one thing, America has always had socialism for White people.

That's what the Homestead Acts in the 1860s/1870s were in which millions of acres of land and the tools and seeds to work that land West of the Mississippi was doled out to newly arriving poor penniless Europeans immigrants and Black people and Indians were excluded. The US Government undergirded these people an economic base and floor to get their farm-based businesses started and they never did that for non-Whites EVER.

Fast forward to the early to mid 20th century, and FDR's New Deal programs *Social Security, FHA Home Loan Program, HOL (Homeowners Loan Act). CCC, TVA, Unemployment Insurance, Workman's Compensation, AND THE G.I. BILL", etc, were all rooted in socialist ideals and it made it possible for working-class WHITES TO ATTAIN WEALTH AND to attain some modicum of wealth-building VIA HOME BUYING WHICH PRIOR HAD NEVER EXISTED FOR WORKING-CLASS PEOPLE and that was all off-limits to non-Whites. I am surprised people do not know about this stuff. When non-Whites began accessing Gov Programs in the 1960s, they weren't offered an opportunity to buy homes. They were herded into Public Housing which doesn't accrue in wealth therefore you can't sell or borrow money against the equity in a Public Housing project. Food stamps also do not accrue in wealth as well. The New Green Deal that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez proposed is doable but it will NOT see the light of day because it includes non-Whites and historically Whites frown on Gov tax dollars being used to help non-Whites which is what the GOP does when they refer to Black single moms on welfare as "Welfare Queens" etc they rile people up and portray these single moms as welfare cheats, lazy, no-good bums who ant to use White taxpayer money to take care of them and people buy it.

My uncle actually went to trade school while in high school in the late 1970s (he graduated in 1979 I think) and he told me back then when you reached your junior year of high school, you had an option of attending regular school for half the day and then attend a trade school for the rest of the day. He did that and learned auto mechanics and he now owns 4 repair shops and he says his biggest gripe now is no one is being trained to repair the newest cars that are all computerized so he has a hard time finding skilled mechanics/auto techs.

Donald Trump is a s_tty person period. All he has done since the 1970s is bilk people into investing their money with and using NY tax loopholes to avoid paying property taxes and filing bankruptcy.

The only reason Trump won, to begin with, is because he ran a campaign based on racism and those people in America who happen to be racist ate that up and went with it not once taking the time to see where he stood on issues facing the country such as our pathetic healthcare system, dead-end low paying jobs, educational system, infrastructure etc.

The wealthiest got what they wanted from him with the $1.7T tax cut and once that was done, they were done with him.

That's pretty much what he has been and continues to be.

If the rule of law were being upheld, Trump would have been ousted his first day in office because he has violated the Constitution's emoluments clause; by violating that prohibition, this chief executive is raking in millions from officials of foreign governments and lobbyists who stay at his hotels and resorts and use his golf courses.

The mechanisms that once made democracy possible have withered and died. We no longer have elections free of corporate control; real legislative debate; an independent press rooted in verifiable fact that lifts up the voices and concerns of the citizens rather than peddling conspiracy theories such as Russiagate or cheerleading for disastrous military interventions and occupations; academic institutions that vigorously examine and critique the nature of power; or diplomacy, negotiation, dtente and compromise.

The corporate capitalists who hold real power view Trump as an embarrassment. They would prefer to put a more dignified face on the American empire, one like Biden who will do their bidding with the decorum of a traditional president.

Have you ever been forced to work 84 hours in one week understaffed? You wind up doing multiple jobs worth of work yourself for longer periods of time.

I actually worked for a Swedish company a few years back that required you to cross-train for other jobs besides your main job and they did that to cut wages because they would only pay you 45 cent extra for each job you learned so, in essence, they were cheating you out of money because that job you learned may have paid $17.00 per hour but they got you to learn it for far less sans benefits of hiring someone, so they were killing two birds with one stone so to speak. The Swedes are brutal to work for as well. They had so many silly rules I lost count of them. PS this Swedish company only has operations in RTW states were rules and regs are laxed and I recall we have many people who got hurt on the job a lot as well so that says a lot about them. They also never gave pay raises while I was there which is why I left.

My dog is named Sex! Everybody who has a dog calls him "Rover" or "Boy." I call mine "Sex." He's a great pal, but he has caused me a great deal of embarrassment.

When I went to city hall to renew his dog license, I told the clerk I would like a license for Sex. He said, "I'd like one too!"

Then, I said, "But this is a dog." He said he didn't care what she looked like. Then, I said, "You don't understand, I've had Sex since I was 9 years old." He winked and said, "You must have been quite a kid."

When I got married and went on my honeymoon, I took the dog with me. I told the motel clerk that I wanted a room for my wife and me and a special room for Sex.

He said, "You don't need a special room. As long as you pay your bill, we don't care what you do." I said, "Look, you don't seem to understand. Sex keeps me awake at night." The clerk said, "Funny -- I have the same problem."

One day, I entered Sex in a contest, but before the competition began, the dog ran away. Another contestant asked me why I was just standing there, looking disappointed. I told him I had planned to have Sex in the contest. He told me I should have sold my own tickets. "But you don't understand," I said, "I had hoped to have Sex on TV." He said, "Now that cable is all over the place, it's no big deal anymore."

When my wife and I separated, we went to court to fight for custody of the dog. I said, "Your honor, I had Sex before I was married." The judge said, "The courtroom isn't a confessional. Stick to the case, please."

Then, I told him that after I was married, Sex left me. He said, "Me too."

Last night, Sex ran off again. I spent hours looking all over town for him. A cop came over to me and asked, "What are you doing in this alley at 4 o'clock in the morning?" I told him that I was looking for Sex. My case comes up Friday.

According to the Center for American Progress on the topic of work and family life balance,in 1960, only 20 percent of American mothers worked. Today, 70 percent of American children live in households where all adults are employed.

The U.S. is the ONLY country in the Americas without a national paid parental leave benefit. The average is over 12 weeks of paid leave anywhere other than Europe and over 20 weeks in Europe.

Zero industrialized nations are without a mandatory option for new parents to take parental leave. That is, except for the United States.

At least 134 countries have laws setting the maximum length of the workweek; the U.S. does not.

In the U.S., 85.8 percent of males and 66.5 percent of females work more than 40 hours per week.

Americans work 137 more hours per year than Japanese workers, 260 more hours per year than British workers, and 499 more hours per year than French workers.

There is not a federal law requiring paid sick days in the United States.

The U.S. remains the only industrialized country in the world that has no legally mandated annual leave.

In every country included except Canada and Japan (and the U.S., which averages 13 days/per year), workers get at least 20 paid vacation days. In France and Finland, they get 30 an entire month off, paid, every year.

Its been drilled in our heads (BY A CERTAIN POLITICAL PARTY) that we are lazy compared to emerging market counterpart workers in India, Mexico, China, and other parts of Asia. To validate those fears, our jobs are being outsourced to cheap labor in those countries.

Our legislative branch of the government (on both sides of the aisle) has been bought and as a result, has shied away from passing laws that protect workers that every other industrialized nation has passed.

We generally dont fight for our working rights. We take what is given to us.

My racism? That's precious to me. We never hear non-Whites say this isn't supposed to happen here whenever something bad happens yet when Columbine happened we had people saying that exact thing as if somehow Columbine, for example, isn't supposed to happen to people like those people yet it did despite the kids coming from Middle Class homes etc it did happen.

I didn't say we were. History taught us that because in Europe throughout time all Europeans ever did was war with one another and steal land, resources and create fake kingdoms yet we always point the finger at non-Whites which is what Trump was doing in yelping about building a wall.

He said people from Mexico were bringing drugs and crime to the country completely glossing over the fact that in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, newly arriving White Europeans from Itlay and other countries came here forming street gangs, etc which then spawned the America Mafia yet Trump never makes a point to say that.
