| Pancake 11/22/19 6:24:49 PM #65 | literally everything about this game's design inherently benefits campers and punishes rushers. wouldn't that be true of any of these games, though? like if you take two equally skilled players and one is allowed to camp and the other isn't, who wins? this is a logic issue. you need to make a gunfight game where running into explosions and bullets is the choice more likely to give you more kills than deaths. it does sound like a few of these design choices add on to the advantage, but wouldn't you say it's there in the first place? --- |

And discussed all their theories about what is going to happen? And everyone looked forward to upcoming episodes and finales? Can't really replicate that with streaming. ooooh man, do i have a story for you. those days aren't necessarily dead, and it's thanks to streaming. so hey. brony here. the broniest thing i did was i made sure i never missed an episode premiere. didn't touch the fan stuff. just loved the show lots. thing is, people would stream them when they aired. the stream party is born. it's exactly as fun as it sounds. piling into a chatroom every week with like a hundred or four hundred other people who are as dorky as you are about something. eventually, episode leaks happened, and ruined all of that. if you didn't watch the leaks, you ran the risk of having them spoiled. your choices were watch them or avoid parts of the internet. but until then? we had our episodes dosed out as they intended, and it was perfect. i agree with you that binging sucks. the best thing they ever did was split up a two-parter between weeks. they never went back to that, regrettably. --- |

| Pancake 11/19/19 11:12:01 PM #18 | 2's PVP had better design but i think the PVP is better in 1. strange distinction, right? i was a bit of an arena fiend. i can tell you with confidence that anything works in there, if you put in the time and effort and have the skill. powerstancing is awesome. the tech isn't busted to where a new player stands zero chance against someone rattling off animation cancels and quick attacks, though i will say the odds aren't great. the tech in 1, meanwhile, is game-defining in that until you know how to defend and score backstabs and all the tech involved with that you are practically gated out of the pvp side. that said, dark souls 1 gives you a type of tech that 2 doesn't: toggle escapes and pivot blocks. you have options during and after damage. i think that makes it more interesting. i can't hate soul memory with every fiber of my being because it was an attempt, and it had some elegant results; the cost for invading was actually reasonably high, assuming the player didn't cheat in creos or abuse saves. 10k souls a pop or you have to win in the arena or farm annoying enemies. --- |

| Pancake 11/19/19 8:28:23 AM #79 | I legitimately stopped watching any new episodes period when the Cutie Mark Crusaders got their cutie marks in some throwaway ep. i mean, i think i get what your beef is, judging by what you said about the twilight thing. you think such an occasion should've had more bombast. make that a two-parter or something, right? i want to point out that crusaders of the lost mark aired on the 5-year anniversary of the show airing. i thought the timing was phenomenal and probably the biggest bomb they could've dropped on that day. everyone in the streams were floored. you're missing out on some really good pony by stopping at season 3. --- |
