Nice, II was one of the most annoying ones from what I remember. I only got a 43s clear even with Firion's awakening... might have to give it another try soon.

Right now I'm grinding magia for my XIV team to try to get that clear sub-30, from 37.64. I also got Minfilia's QC3 LMR since my last try which should shave a little time off. I'm still at 8 sub-30, three more cleared, and 6 not even cleared.

Holy Odin down!! That's 6/9, first one I managed with a gen 1 chain (the key was realizing Elarra needed to bring Warrior's Hymn, and then just figuring out when I needed to heal). Used Lakshmi to block the Curse (silence/blind) rather than spending a soul break bar on it. That meant I couldn't use it as an early rage breaker, but Firion gets USB/AASB down and then throws down Healing Smite just in time to break rage before the first Savage Zantetsuken.

Earth and Fire (and Bio) are the ones I have left. My DPS options are basically the same for both: Bartz, Terra, and Rydia. For fire my only chain is Locke, for earth I have both types of gen 2 chain (Galuf/Red XIII). It seems like Earth should be doable with a mage team but Titan sucks, I want to wait for Brothers. Fire is more awkward especially since I have zero finishers.

If you're desperate there should be a chain select gem banner this month, but it will probably only have Locke and Krile for fire. I wouldn't pay $30 for a gen 1 chain at this point but it might be your only chance until Fire Chocobo.

I did the core pull because I have a lot of mythril and that one has the best remaining odds for me to get something good - just got a dupe Elarra USB2 though.

Also I got very close on Holy Odin, getting down to probably 10% left. I died though because Elarra didn't have enough SB bar to fire off her USB right away in phase 3, and she died to Savage Elemental Drive because she had the major dark resist accessory instead of the moderate omniresist one. Major dark is better for most of the fight but omniresist let's you survive one more elemental drive in phase 3 - everyone else did survive but then died without healing before I could get the AOSBs off (Celes was ready to go, WoL didn't have enough bar either). Anyway I'm sure I can get this with the team I have now.

IMO try it out before you spend the lenses, you might not even need them, or you'll get an idea what's lacking from your team.

I probably should have spent more time optimizing my magicite for Syldra since it was an annoying fight. But ultimately once I brought 2 healers I didn't have much trouble so I never made a second Mateus.

I'm definitely jealous of your Maria awakening by the way. My Rydia needs a partner for taking down earth Odin and being ready for Ramuh.

For all the element resist magicite like Mateus, I have one copy with a second resist of the same element inherited. That way I can get 15% resist against any element with just one magicite slot.

I don't like def boon and res boon very much because most high end bosses have lots of piercing attacks now.

3x HP boon is mostly needed for some versions of Odin where you can ignore mitigation as long as everyone is able to survive a 9999 hit. Elarra needs three HP boons to get to 10k so it's very useful there... but aside from that special case you probably only need 1 or 2.

Having one healing boon and one mind boon is nice it makes a noticeable difference in healing and everyone has more HP now and bosses deal more damage.

For blockers I have one Phoenix and one Famfrit with Blade Ward / Spell Ward / HP Boon. You can also use Mateus for this job but I haven't made one because I haven't really needed it (and using more than 2 at the same time is pretty pointless)

The answer is probably both - you need a chain and a buff for hard content. Gen 2 chains are nice because they give you both at the same time.

I got Strago's SSB in the daily draw, first 5* in a while. +10 magic for someone I have a chain and awakening for isn't bad.

Yeah those banners are a constant temptation because they're cheap and have good stuff, but the odds just aren't worth it (plus we're going to be getting a constant stream of free tickets for them soon).

I wish we knew the dates of our dream selects and whether our chain banner will just be the same pool they had in JP. My remaining Odins (by weakness) are:

- Holy - I have WoL's gen1 chain and Firion and Celes's Awakenings. I could really use Ramza's chain.
- Earth - Have both gen2 chains, but just Bartz/Rydia for damage. Mixed teams are awkward and Rydia still doesn't have a 6* earth ability, waiting for Brothers in about 3 more weeks. So I could use another awakening, planning to draw for Rinoa's in next fest.
- Fire - Just Locke's chain, awakenings are Bartz, Terra, and off-element Rydia. If I had Vincent's chain I think I could do it with magic.

I feel like I'm missing something, a lot of people seem hyped about Passionate Salsa but as far as I can tell it's just a full break (which all high end content resists) and a very small heal. And since it's not an elemental ability it doesn't generate all that much SB bar. What makes it good?

I think I'm pretty stalled on Torments, I'm sub-30 on 8 of them. XIV is my next closest but I don't have any awakenings there. I miiiight be able to get under 30 from my current 37.48 if I spent lenses on a USB (probably Ysayle's) but I'm not ready to do that yet.

Oh, and anyone else think it's kind of weird to have the wind pickup banner now, closing before we get Titan? It seems like that fight is what will make people want to pull.

Yesss! Five Odins down. Only one awakening here, Cloud does some work here with his USB1/USB3 combo but he's probably the weakest secondary DPS I've cleared Odin with yet. Seph on the other hand does some absolutely disgusting things when he's in trance, Awakened mode, and Legendary Soldier EX mode at the same time... like Demon Cross hits for 26k when not critting and 53k for the crits. There's nothing like a hitting with an ability that does 126k to break Savage mode, doing 206k with the doublecast, then triggering your LM for the triplecast.

Now that #5 is down I can finally shard a bunch of obsolete accessories. The last 3 (or 4, lol) are going to be a lot harder. I might have a chance at holy, Firion is actually great (not Sephiroth-level, but plenty good enough) but WOL chain is weak and Celes is surprisingly bad as a holy knight, but still the best option I have.

Yay, Odin #4 down, finally (water weak). I had more than enough damage this time with 3 awakenings and two AOSBs, but the hard part was staying alive. Ultimately I got it when I decide to bring the medica RW instead of the damage one. Also I re-chained a little early in order to have a good chain going in phase 3. That meant I never got to use Strago's arcane overstrike but I didn't need it, Rydia finished him off with hers.

I did invest a fair amount in this one, I picked up Strago's doublecast LMR in the lens shop and I had 2 artifacts (but those are plentiful now)

That's the order I'd use. Although depending on the length of the fight you might go Glint+, USB1, AASB, spam spellblades for 15 seconds, USB1, AOSB. There's no benefit to using the AOSB while still in awakened mode as long as you have EX: SOLDIER mode so you can maximize your number of dualcast actions in awakened mode if you need to. Of course if you can finish the fight then go ahead and use the AOSB.

I looked over all the realm banners and it turns out XV was by far the best one for me, partly because I don't have anything good in that realm:

15 mythril: 1/11 Cor LMR
Free Ticket: 2/11 Noctis Glint, Ignis LMR

Looks like I still don't have anything good in that realm.

Next best for me are X, XII, XIII, and core. I haven't finished any of those torments either so maybe I will pull... although they're all well below the threshold I set for "worth it" before I started going through the banners: 25% of 6* being non-dupe chain 2.0 or awakenings. I got that because the best fest banner will be 50% Synchro+Awakening+Chain 2.0, this costs 30% as much so the target should be 15%, and there is a 8/6 split between 6* and 5* so you need 26.25% of 6* to hit 15% of the overall banner.

This MP fight is REALLY annoying to farm. The adds can trigger counter: self destruct off of AOE hits, and autobattle is too stupid to target the right enemy so you're forced to hit the grenades. And no magicite to get you over 9999 HP, which is what the self destruct move deals.

They didn't mess up the banner! I did two pulls and I'm super happy with what I got. I started out already having Rydia's AASB, AOSB, and LMR.

I'd try to do a little 4* farming as possible since 5* magicite makes them all obsolete. If you have a chain and awakening you can take down most 5* without an optimized magicite deck.

I've been trying holy-weak Odin but it's tough. I got him into phase 3 once but didn't have Elarra ready to go with her USB so I died to the Elemental Drives before I could kill him. I'm working with WoL's gen 1 chain (also a USB and AOSB), Firion with USB1 and AASB, Celes with her team buff+enholy BSB, AASB, and AOSB, and Tyro and Elarra. But it's really slow to get started because Tyro needs to use DVG (this version does about 15k with one AOE attack if you have no mitigation) and his USB1 for astra, and his USB4 for crit fixing, so he can't entrust anyone until about 20 seconds into the fight. And ultimately Celes just doesn't do enough damage, even with an artifact weapon, enholy, and 100 attack from magia. She can't break level 3 rage mode even using Aegis Strike and needs a pretty high chain to break level 2. I need a better holy knight but if I get one, then I lose the +30% party attack buff so I really need Ramza's chain to replace WOL's.

FBC Water coming soon, I'm excited about b2 with two chains. Also maintenance must be soon since FBC Water was the last datamined event, and that should bring us the date for Titan. Not sure if I'm ready for that one with just my Cloud/Bartz/Zack team (no Glint+ for Cloud or Zack and no Bartz USB3)

Made some progress... finally got my last two Deathgazes thanks to using Tyro/Elarra crit boosting. I took a couple swings at Water Odin and Dark Odin but he's a bit too much of a pain... for water I'm using Tidus gen 1 CSB with Bartz en-water BSB, USB1, AASB and Rydia imperil BSB, AASB, and AOSB. For dark I was trying a mixed team with Seph, Golbez, and Rydia... mostly because my Golbez can do useful stuff besides chain (he has radiant shield dark BSB and a USB) while my Seifer has nothing but his chain and LMRs. I think I'd be better off using Seph / Seifer / Cloud but I need to get something for Seifer... after the lens shop update I can grab his USB2.

I do already have Laguna's ice chain and Celes's awakening... but if I get a third ice awakening (besides Celes and Squall) I would try using Celes for chaining since her extra SB generating LM will make it easier to use it and her awakening.

Going to select Sephiroth for the AOSB and Elarra 2 for the USB.

For $5 might as well. Lots of people took Sarah, if you haven't beaten the FF1 torment it seems like a good choice.

Still not sure if I want to draw on FF7 b2... I really want the chain, but there's a lot of junk on the banner, and there's a lot of power creep coming.

I hope we get the dream selects soon... was hoping we'd get an announcement that it's tomorrow but that didn't happen. Once I get Seph's AOSB I think I have a shot at doing dark-weak Odin. I might grab Elarra's USB2 for the crit damage boost but I'm not sure if that one's worth it.

Update: I took it down, but in 43.64. It was too much of a pain for me to want to try again until I get new tools. Firion with USB1+AASB and Maria with USB are pretty good, but I'm stuck using ancient Boon tech (Leila's Unique SB from the acolyte archives) and Gordon isn't doing much, just using his +30% ATK/MAG SB and casting dispel.

I'm trying to do Phrekyos now with my Firion awakening but that is one hard fight. Ultimate Level Up at the beginning of every phase is basically just like Gilgamesh except it takes two different abilities to remove the buffs instead of one. But if you just ignore it he does a ton of damage and kills you quick. Firion's not doing as much damage as I expected either.

I was planning to draw on b4 today but now I'm questioning it. I like Orlandu, but he's not relevant for 6* magicite unless he gets enholy... and he'll be back in 3 months on Tactics b2 (2xG5) that also has Ramza's holy chain. Meia/Gogo stuff would be useful... but there's the Black Chocobo Water banner in 2 weeks and I like those characters more. I like Lightning, but I've cleared Lightning Odin, and it seems like her Synchro is way better than her Awakening. That kind of leaves Firion as the grand prize (need to beat II torment somehow, and his enholy USB keeps him relevant in 6* magicite).

How many USBs have people taken from the anima lens shop so far? I have enough for 3 selections but I don't really know what to use them on. Debating whether it's better to take something that might help me with a torment but probably won't have any use outside of that, or something to improve my characters are already useful like getting USBs for my chain holders, or Bartz USB2 when that gets added, etc.

I disagree, I don't think the AOSB lucky is very worthwhile. Too many characters in the pool, and AOSBs are almost worthless if you don't already have other good stuff for that character.

Oh wow, I've had Celes BSB1 for ages and I never realized it gave infuse-holy. That is super useful with her Awakening, it makes her usable for top end holy teams!

I already have Y'shtola's so it's probably Sarah for me, although I also have the crazy idea of taking Rydia's just to complete her (I'm missing a couple other things but they're all selectable... although I'd kind of hate using lenses on her horrible LMR1).

Probably skipping the AOSB lucky too because there are just too many things in the pool and only a few that I really want (Sephiroth, Terra, and Bartz mainly). They're not really useful unless you have an awakening for the character and 20 hit ones are a lot better than 3 hit. Although they can still be useful on Torments with just a USB or even a BSB I guess.

Huh. First banner adds two chains I could use, but removes two awakenings I wanted. And for some reason cuts Mog's USB for the Tyro USB that everyone already has. I guess I probably still do one pull here. Although I don't really like Hope and Auron, I would much rather have Edward and Gilgamesh's chains for those elements.

Meia/Firion/Orlandu banner was one I was already thinking of pulling on and that one gets clearly better by adding Lightning AASB, although they do the completely bizarre change of replacing Firion USB3 with his USB1. This one's probably worth a pull although again, I'd rather have Strago's chain instead of Gogo (V)'s and that one's available pretty soon on the Black Chocobo Water banner 2.

Has that actually been done? I've thought about the IX team before but it doesn't seem like you have enough damage. There's no bio boosting magicite and no bio boosting armor(!), Zidane has to be able to break savage mode L3 with out those and no enBio. You only get 15 seconds of awakened mode to work with (with a 5* ability!) but at least his instant casting does help you. You have no bio AOSB/OSBs as finishers in phase 3. Also Steiner's contributing very little because he has to either use a 1 hit, 4* bio spellblade or an off-element ability just to boost the chain.

It seems more doable once Vivi's AASB is out just because you can use that for the cap break and his USB for doublecast... but getting enough gauge to do that is a challenge, because 5* abilities generate less. Definitely would be a fun challenge to try, but I don't have the key pieces (Zidane AASB, Steiner Chain, Marcus USB)

Got a dupe Locke Chain today. Too bad it was a dupe but eh, still pretty happy about yesterday's awakening.

Japan's 5A banners are up. The first thing I noticed was Quistis's awakened mode is water/bio with a dual enelement (basically the first attack you use after the awakening gets chased with an enelement). I wonder if they might start to give bio some real support soon? Beating Bio Odin for real is probably still not realistic, but if they had an elemental chain or one other 8 character with good bio...

It's pretty good, or it was. You use it for non-fire elements to let him do more damage. With Gathering Storm or some other source of fastcast the downside is small. But his newer one is the same thing with no downside if he's equipping a rod, so that's obviously better.

I got Beatrix USB which wasn't a dupe, and decided to get my act together and clear the IX torment. I did it, but in 40.14. Not going to try for a better time until I get more SBs though. After fest I might take one of Zidane's USBs with anima lenses, I did this with Zidane just having BSBs and an OSB.

For FF2 dreams I just did an earth team. My off realm characters were Galuf for the chain and Tyro. Then I used Maria/Guy for damage and Hilda to heal. It wasn't my most powerful dreams team but it got the job done.
