Of course, November sees a bunch of stuff, including the BIG FRANCHISES, like Call of Duty, etc., and then things slow by late November. But we still see the occasional December release. Wtf. This isn't right. December is about, I dunno, putting up the Christmas tree and buying the turkey. To say nothing of the fact that you're still playing the November releases in December. Confirm / Deny: a law should be passed in the major video game territories, i.e. Europe, America, Japan and Australia, preventing any video games from being released from Dec 1st to Dec 31st. --- Sunhawk's main alternate account. I mean, the graphics were cutting edge, there was shooting, the challenge was solid but not too annoying or alienating. What's with all the agro about this game? Of course. Having said THAT. There was the bizarre mish-mash of gameplay styles, such as puzzling, talking to characters, third-person-shooting, and exploring. They just tried to do too much, and did a fucking poor job of combining these things. There is also the slightly dull, generic plot. There are also specific sections which are very badly done, such as the (very funny) QTE at the beginning of the game, with the subway train. Lulz. So bad. Despite all that, it was still a decent enough game. I don't regret spending 40 on it. Your own thoughts? --- Sunhawk's main alternate account. Don't make me say it. It *wasn't* great. GeOW was quite good, yes, but it was far from great. The graphics, although superb for textures, were completely uncreative, really dull, and almost totally colourless. The gameplay was NOTHING new. You just ran around shooting people (well, aliens) from a third-person-perspective. The weapons were hopelessly uninspired. Co-op gameplay, although not common, had been done before. The high levels of violence was clearly designed to appeal to teenagers, especially Western teenagers. How can anyone say it was a great game? I still remember GameSpot giving it a 9.6 / 10, although I don't know why. Just about the only fun thing was the challenge, when you kicked things up to Hardcore or Insane Difficulty. Never understood people obsessed with this game. I can't really comment on the later games, which looked slightly more fun, but...come on. 360 owners were just starved for good content, early on. The sheer number of excellent games on the 360. Let's see what some of the really impressive stuff was. Of course, some of these are multi-platform, and some are exclusives (or were). There's a mix. Alan Wake Tony Hawk's Project 8 Tony Hawk's Proving Grounds Call of Duty 2 MW2 MW3 Halo 3 Halo 3: ODST Guitar Hero 3 Mirror's Edge Dead Rising 1 Eternal Sonata FEAR 1 The Orange Box Probably others I've forgotten, as well.
