Trails in the Sky 1/2/3 > Trails from Zero > Trails to Azure > Trails of Cold Steel 1/2/3/4

Best place to start is Sky, second best place to start is Cold Steel 1 if newer games catch your attention more (though if you get into the series you'll want to go back and play the others anyway because they are connected).

Zero is getting an edit, but according to the lead editor it will be unlikely before CS3.

Azure's edit is years out.

Lead editor for Zero says 'probably not' to a release before CS3.

Absolutely a few people will try. It won't be a lot of people though.

Maybe one person will get 'in range' of the facility and get arrested.

The rest will give up partway and there may be some cases of heat exhaustion and such.

There will absolutely not be any shooting unless some hillbillies show up armed or something. Even if somehow a mass of people got near, they'd just use riot control methods like tear gas. Military doesn't shoot US citizens unless they've exhausted all other avenues.

Its definitely not edited the way Zero is going to be though. Geofront is 'localizing' it the way XSeed does by giving the characters more personality in their dialogue etc (like how Estelle says "Holy Stregas!" in FC but in the JP version its just a generic exclamation of surprise)

The Flame edit simply fixed some unclear wording, bad grammar, spelling, etc.

It's not going to be anywhere near the same thing.

I mean you'd still have to play Azure unedited anyway and it'd probably be even harder to go from edited Zero to unedited Azure

The Zero translation is fine. You get used to the issues it has in like 15 minutes.

TitS has a slow start but has a huuuuge payoff.

FC is my least favorite game in the series but SC and 3rd are both my #3 and #2 (was 1 and 2 before I played Azure)

EDIT: And even FC has a great payoff toward the end, I should add. Just because its my least favorite overall doesn't mean its not good in its own right.

Was just saying it worked another way for people that did Sky beforehand because the mechs have always been super-special Gundam types or smaller anti-personnel things like the archaisms before hand. So it was an effective reveal either way.

There've been mechs in the series before so it wasn't a super surprise for me but that scale of mass production had some big implications for Erebonia's power level now compared to the other countries so that in itself was a pretty big surprise.

I agree with the "Spiderman didn't seem Spiderman-y enough" feeling. Peter's suppose to be a cocky smartass as Spiderman and he just kinda... wasn't this movie?

Mysterio was excellent though. If he's actually dead I'll be really surprised because it doesn't really make sense that he is.

Ned and MJ are quite great too.

I really hope we get out of the 'highschool Spiderman' era soon though. I don't particularly mind it, but its definitely less interesting than his later life incarnations.

EDIT: Also Re: "Do you want him to quip to the drones?"- yes actually. Spidey quips to himself almost as often as to his enemies out of habit. It's his way to diffuse his own tension and kind of 'keep character'.

He does drop it when things get really personal and serious, which stuff kind of was the entire movie, so I get it, but it ended up going overboard on it imo.

Not officially. They have (unedited but still readable) fan translations available on PC. If you have a Vita capable of homebrew you can play the Evolution versions on that (people ported the translations over).

You can technically understand CS2 just fine without playing the Sky games but it does spoil Sky pretty badly so it is recommended to play them first. It's up to you though.

You do need to play the Sky trilogy and the Crossbell duology before CS3, however. CS3 brings characters and plotlines back from them and continues their stories while expecting you to know them.

I never got around to fighting the actual real final boss, the latter half of the story was pretty disappointing to me. Liked the game overall but it went from looking like it would be one of my favourites in the first half to merely being pretty good by the end

yeah CS2's 'epilogue' bit is pretty bad. I had pretty similar thoughts on it.

You can basically just run through it except for the bosses, so not terribly long.

You get to use Towa though :D

Yes actually that is one of the worst parts of the game. Trails as a whole tends to not follow anime tropes THAT much (there is some for sure, but its not very prevalent) but that one is front loaded and very dumb.

Luckily that situation in particular gets resolved fairly fast in the grand scheme of the game and isn't dragged out super far. It's just unfortunate that its up front like that.

FF14 is fantastic and the hype among the fanbase for the new expansion in a couple weeks is huge. We've had 2 great expansions in a row and this one looks to continue the trend from what we've seen so far.

No, you were told that you can understand the main plot of Cold Steel 1 and 2, which you can. That doesn't mean you're going to catch all of the nuances of every single plot detail though.

You're literally complaining about not everything being understandable in a massive series that is still ongoing.

Of course everything isn't answered yet, its not over.

Millium's new VA seems like she's getting pretty close to the original with tone, but can't really tell from just one voice clip. Also that was the least enthusiastic "Gabriel arrow" from Alisa's VA ever <_<

No but you don't get the others for awhile. You also don't usually get a choice of who you bring in CS1 (you only do in specific sections).

Guns in Trails don't normally use gunpowder because its outdated tech. Guns use Orbal Energy to fire in this series, normally.

The star was the true ancient evil that Erdrick fought against and imprisoned, defeating Mordegon let it get free and you had to beat it instead for the true final boss.

Not really sure how you could forget that considering its pretty easy to remember...

Also its like an extra 30 hours to the game after the 'ending'.

Like every time there's a romance in a game, there should just be a harem option instead.

You can definitely start with Rorona if you want to.

I just think its a little riskier to start with because the story is kind of bad (the characters and slice of life events are really good though) and the battle system is incredibly easy (like, overly so) for like 2/3rds of the game.

But its probably the 2nd best one to start with and I actually do overall like the Arland series better than Dusk even if Dusk is more consistent gameplay wise.

Honestly it's kinda because there are so many Atelier games that I don't ever get around to trying them. Like I just have the feeling it's the type of game I'll only really want to play once in a generation but maybe the next one will be better than the current one so I just sit and wait and don't play any of them because there's always a next one.

Atelier Ayesha is the one I'd recommend for a starter game. Best mix of good story, world, characters, and gameplay without somewhat relying on any of the other games since its the beginning of a trilogy.

Hard to say between 1990s and 2000s, but I went with the 90s because I made less self destructive choices then even if I did enjoy the 00s probably more.

Despise most of the 2010s but its been looking up recently, hopefully the 20s will be good.

Yeah they literally have a whole scene going "What if it isn't actually bullshit and Tsumugi was fucking with us and Hopes Peak actually exists" at the very end.
