Sure, it's a good reason. But resources are also limited. The U.S. has own it issues to solve and we can't afford to be constantly sending massive amounts of aid to everyone, even when they do have a genuine need for it.

Are you going to have a specific hosting plan or way to get money/keep costs low. Because when I think of YT I think of people loading several hundreds of MBs a second in total, or higher in a lot of cases. So you'd probably need a specific niche.

As big as possible. There are still a few changes to imgtc I plan on making and growing that one too, but I'd really like to have a go at building something bigger. Just so much potential with it. I'm still looking at what my options are for scalability. Since I don't have unlimited capital like Youtube I think I'm going to stick with my current host for now, since they're pretty cheap and the quality isn't too bad. I'm also going to have to see what areas I can really save on. For instance how Youtube makes multiple versions of every upload, that takes up massive amounts of storage space. That's something I'll have to do differently to keep operating costs as low as possible without sacrificing usability. And yeah, eventually there will likely need to be staff to moderate and whatnot. I'd rather have humans handling a lot of that instead of relying on algorithms because those seem too inaccurate, but that brings it right back to how expensive it'll be to run.

Pandering to mass audiences means piracy and pornography and pirated porn, which isn't a viable business model for very long.

Pretty safe to say none of those things will be allowed. I'm also thinking of steering away from having a lot of content geared towards kids as well, because that really opens up a whole can of worms too. I think the middle area in between those types of content will be the focus.

For sure! And yeah, I love how I can quickly just go to imgTC, click once and already be uploading an image. And I dont even need an account! Imgur is a frustrating mess these days, I get legitimately mad when I try to use it.

True to a large degree, but I think that a lot of people with popular channels would also be willing to use a newer site alongside youtube if they're treated right. I'm not looking to have this explode overnight, I would rather grow it a bit slower but in a healthier way.

There are many big YouTubers talking about this, even making videos dedicated to this subject. And I know some of them that have already started branching out to places like Twitch (while still maintaining their YouTube channels). People like them would definitely latch on to a new service boasting less hassle and unfair treatment.

It's even worse on mobile to the point where it's nearly unusable. It's 1000% became the thing it sought to replace.

I want to build it so that people who generate original and genuine content are treated fairly and not kicked aside in favor of pleasing advertisers. A big issue going on now with youtube is that many people are having their channels demonetized for copyright infringement wrongly, because Youtube/Google give all the power to large corporations.

This is correct. And imgTC is already far superior to imgur or any other hosting site Ive seen. You can definitely do it.

I can't say now exactly where the line will be drawn, but content that promotes hate speech and violence will not be tolerated at all. I think a lot of the less-extreme content will be decided on a case by case basis

Right now I'm working on the rough layout and getting basic features in place. By next weekend I should have progress to post pics and get everyones feedback on what's been done so far. If you have a youtube channel and you think there's room for improvement, I'm definitely interested in what you think because I want to make it as creator-friendly as possible.
