One of the best sci-fi shows and maybe dramas in general, the character development is basically second to none.

Can be a little bit of a rocky start with it looking dated and some sketchy acting here and there but it improves and is overall fantastic.

I actually really liked FF7's graphics. I think it's a cool aesthetic style, not one they should go back to or anything except maybe for spin-offs but I think it works and it was probably like Square's (or anyone's?) first real foray into a modern 3D JRPG of that size.

One of my friends is the complete opposite. Can't buy into the whole spirit/demon thing and just kinda finds it a little silly because of it.

That said, I think I'd agree they're the scariest. Outside of jumpscares, Slashers are almost like a differently paced action movie (imagine if the killer had a gun instead of a knife, you're basically watching a slower, less flashy John Wick). The supernatural horror of spirits and demons etc can really build a tense and frightening atmosphere before anything even happens.

I love all the horrors, though I do very much miss the iconic slashers at this point. It's good to see Halloween back (Chucky too but I haven't seen the new one yet).

Nah, the first is the best. The others just don't nail that same atmosphere.

It became too much of a shooter, I think. Even early on in the game I felt pretty unstoppable and never felt the same level of tension or fear the original managed to build. I think Isaac suddenly talking changed the tone a little too(no longer working as a self-insert) .

Loved the first game but IMO that's also where it peaked.

In my first run I ended up turning Sylvain into my Dancer because his stats in general were just poor. With Ferdinand, even if he gets unlucky, because of his natural talent if you promote him into Wyvern Lord and equip the right abilities, he gets some seriously high Avoid bonuses.

In the final fight I sent him off on his own to sit on one of those HP regen circles and just let him distract a bunch of enemies by dodge-tanking and countering them while the rest of my team focused the boss.

So far in my second playthrough Sylvain is keeping up this time so I'm gonna make them both Wyvern Lords for symmetry.

I really don't understand how people haven't realized this yet. Nobody's opinion has ever been changed by being insulted. It just makes them dig their heels in harder, get defensive and seek out opinions that already match their own.

People need to be educated, learned and not shouted at.

It seems like a huge problem these days, conflicting idealogies that end up turning all sides into fanatics because of how they choose to 'share' these views. Then again, maybe it's just the internet and its way of making relatively minor problems seem big when IRL nobody really cares.

I had this exact experience with the 300 movie. Two of my friends would not stop going on about how hype it was when it released. I got so sick of hearing about it that I just decided I wouldn't like it and would never watch it.

Eventually a family member really wanted to see the movie so I ended up watching it with them and yeah... I had a great time. Sometimes your own mind can really be an ass.

I feel like if there is a problem, this scene wasn't it.

It was so graphic and unnerving. It didn't make suicide (the attempt at least) look desirable, it made it look hard, brutal and painful. Then the immediate reactions of the parents, the mother especially was very disturbring and heart-wrenching to watch. I have a difficult time believing anyone, even already suicidal people can watch that and feel enthused to live it out.

They did not make it look easy or simple to accomplish, nor was it beautiful or made to seem noble and they framed how it traumatized her parents (who she loved) immediately after. If someone is pumping their fist at that scene as opposed to pausing for thought, they're already way past the danger zone.

The rest of the show, I can absolutely see the argument, at times it does feel romanticized, that the main character is getting her "deserved" revenge. But not that scene. I kinda feel like skipping over it so quickly might even romanticize things more because they don't get a chance to hammer in how absolutely horrifying the act is.

All that said, I'm not a psychological expert so whatever, willing to admit I could be completely wrong and people vary wildly so someone is bound to react the way some psychologists are predicting regardless. Sucks there's probably no legal way to watch it as intended now, though.

Edit: Added some spoiler tags just incase?

Many of the summons in FF8. Also, Shiva in FF10, and all of the summons in FF15.

The beginning of Route C in Nier: Automata. I was like "Oh... So I guess everything before was just prologue."

And Super Mario Odyssey when Mario Cappy's Bowser and not only do you play as him but the music turns into a vocalized remix of his boss music from 64. I was so pumped!

There was a moment in Mass Effect, I think 3?. I was playing purely as a paragon the whole trilogy and at some point in the story Kai Leng fatally injures one of your crew members, eventually after the boss fight with him, I was watching the cutscene after and a RENEGADE prompt came up but because I was so drawn into it, I just kinda freaked out and slapped it by accident without realizing what it was. The ONE evil deed my Shepard ever did was stabbing that bastard to death. It was kind of amazing, like killing his friend was the one thing he couldn't Superman his way through. "That was for Thane, you son of a bitch."

When I played The Darkness, after either a loading screen or a cutscene (I forget which), the game puts you in the subway. It looked so good I didn't realize it was gameplay so after about 20 seconds of nothing happening, I tapped the joystick and was like "Ohhhh!".

Hitman: Blood Money. The Mardi Gras level, I think that was the first time I had seen that particular technology used to put so many NPCs in one place at a time, it was pretty jawdropping and I kinda take it for granted these days.

Obviously there are many more, just trying to add ones I haven't seen in here already.

I tried to stick to mostly modern and or iconic characters, not necessarily my personal picks. I also kind half-assed it at the end. I really only made this post for Shepard, Croft and The Duke.

As for beating Thanos? Honestly, I'm not sure. Kratos might be a match without the stones and Duke is quite a wildcard, while Shepard enables them to travel around the galaxy (assuming there are Mass Effect relays, I guess.)
