ATMs have a withdrawal limit because there is a finite amount of money physically within the ATM. The ATM makes money by number of transactions, generally, not size - so the owner makes more money by limiting maximum withdrawals.

Banks have an ATM withdrawal limit to protect you in case your card gets stolen. It is for your safety as well as the banks. If you need more, they want you to actually go to the bank.

They apologized (though the corporate apology was weak, but some notable employees spoke up), they reversed their decision, and they had a moderate excuse. I don't forgive them, I don't support them or their actions, but I think Blizzard has given up on their ideals a while back. What they did ultimately wasn't the worst.

You can always go to a pegging party.

But, seriously, I don't think college is great outside of hook up culture. If that's what you want, then yeah, you should look at what you need to work on. If that's not what you want, you should interact with people who share your interests. You can still meet people at work, after you graduate, or online if nothing else.

It has FTL space travel, droids, pew pew lasers, and other staples of soft sci-fi.

Even if it has the force, there's still plenty going on that's clearly sci-fi. In later movies they increased some of the more fantastical elements of the series, but if we just look at the original movie, I feel like you're on pretty thin territory calling it "not sci fi".
And none of that is the focus or ultimately matters outside of, maybe, the Death Star. FTL can be replaced by boats, droids by pesants, lasers by guns/bows. Star Wars is a fantasy story told with space ships. It is about knights and wizards and their relationships.
In sci-fi, science should be part of the focus. Whether it creates issues or solves them, there should be some discussion about what could be. In Star Wars, "science" is just a vehicle to let characters fight, it is handwaved. It could be replaced by magic for the same story.

I've said over and over again the prpblem with policing is a lack of training. They should be paid more, trained better, with stricter requirements to become a cop. Until that happens, until cops are no longer insecure bullies, until they are held accountable for their actions - they deserve to be criticized harshly.

That said, Chipotle is delicious and I don't get why people hate it. Maybe some areas are better than others? They gave decent tortillas nicely toasted with acceptable rice, decent meat, and acceptable veggies. Their chips rock, too. They have had weird issues with the suppliers, though.

Nobody has addressed this, and I doubt duncan will change his mind as a moral absolutist, but yes judgment in policing is a good thing. Zero tolerence is idiotic.
You ran 1 second over your parking meter - not worth a ticket. Jaywalking - almost always perfectly fine. You accidentally stole a pack of gum - not worth policing.

Is this case worth policing? I would say so if they happen to catch the vandals. But only so many cases can be followed and this should not be a priority. And if the "vandals" are caught, they should receive a small fine or small community service.

Meanwhile, people should continue to give this guy as much shit as possible. He deserves it.

I dont know wtf you're talking about, but, like I said, there are solutions:
Solutions to the tragedy of the commons include the imposition of private property rights, government regulation, or the development of a collective action arrangement.
Historical examples of tragedies of the commons include the collapse of the North Atlantic Cod fisheries and the extinction of the dodo bird.

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/t/tragedy-of-the-commons.asp
Basic capitalism (not Randian) based solutions that can work. Difficulty is in enforcement, but one advantage to something like a fishing license is that it is in everyone's best interest to police others.

American healthcare sucks. Private insurance is a scam. It's awful for the poorest class, it's aggravating for the middle class, it's only good for ther upper class who can afford to spend whatever they want on their own health. Even for the middle class, it's easy to make a small mistake and end up tens of thousands of dollars in debt.
This is a statement made by someone who likes private healthcare.

Now imagine it is biolgoical

You imagined humanity, and you are living it. Freewill can be best described as a useful delusion. Agency is what we utilize in accordance with the space we have to operate.
What is the difference between free will and the delusion of free will? Does that affect how you or the world operates?

Going backwards: An advanced AI presumably may be changed at the code level, turned off and on fairly easily, and has demonstrated deterministic behavior (to a degree). We do not.
I don't believe in free will, but I do believe arguments against it are often reckless.

Regardless of whether or not we have free will, we act like we do and that is what matters. This take on determinism is too reductive. You act like you do, you treat others like they do, and so on. Even ruminating about a decision can affect the outcome. Regardless of whether or not we are biological computers, we cannot function like one. We have free will as much as it is possible.

My problems with Windows 10 aren't the design of the UI. I know you can change how it looks. My problems are Cortana, the Microsoft store, OneDrive, Microsoft accounts, spying on your programs, spying on your activity, ads in your own damn OS, and so on. Microsoft 10 is modern in all the wrong ways. It feels really Apple-ian in how much they want to control the user experience. Forced updates is one thing, but deleting your programs, targeted ads, etc are things no one actually asks for.
