I just watched the movie "Us" and the characters all use white voice. (We all know what it is without me having to say it, right?)

Anyway, I didn't understand why they were doing it, and it kind of took me out of the atmosphere of the movie; mostly because it was like I could see them acting the whole time, which is never good...

(The movie itself was okay, so I don't have any real complaints about it, other than the acting.)

I don't watch the news. In fact, I actively avoid it. (Why would listening to terrible things, on a loop, help make my life better, in any way?)

Sometimes, when I'm opening a new tab on my PC, I catch a headline on "my feed," but other than that, I don't care what's going on in the world. (Let me guess, bad things are happening to good people? Yeah? Ok, so it's the same as it was the last time I watched the news...)

Since I stopped watching the news, I'm MUCH happier and I have very little anger. I feel lighter, somehow and I even LOOK younger than I have since I was in my 20s. So, worry not about me, friend, I'm doing just fine. :)

This is all so confusing and while I understand the thought process, I'm not sure I get where the money would come from or if it would be "fair" to tax people in the name of a political shift. (Dems are obviously talking about this in an attempt to secure more of the African American vote - I doubt reparations will actually happen...)

I realize that there hasn't even been a talk about these things in the Government, so there aren't any real details, but I'm asking what you think.

So, I have a few thoughts/questions, and they ARE NOT meant to incite anger in anyone:

1. How would reparations work? (A one-time payment of X amount, or annual/monthly/weekly payments?)
2. Would every generation whose ancestors were slaves get this money*? (Or would there be a cutoff - like, if you were born by X date, you get it, but after that date and you don't?)
3. How would this affect the economy?

Sorry for the long post, I'm a curious person and would like to know what others think about this topic, since I obviously missed the topic when it was "current," a few days ago.

My girlfriend's sister got a divorce last May, so more than a year ago. (She was married for like 17 years.)

Anyway, she's been depressed and drinking, practically nonstop, the entire time with no end in sight. She's become less social and even set her privacy on Facebook (I know, "Lol Facebook,") so nobody can write anything on her wall. She doesn't post anything, but does comment on people's posts.

I keep telling my gf that these are all warning signs that she's not getting better, and in fact, is getting worse. But, my gf just acts like it's fine, and I'm blowing this all out of proportion.

I hope I'm wrong and my gf is right, but what, if anything, can I do to help her sister see that she's just wasting her life? Or should I just mind my own business and look the other way?

I never have any issues with motorcyclists. People* who drive pick ups, however, usually act entitled - cutting people off in an aggressive/dangerous way on the highway, making illegal turns, blocking crosswalks at red lights... the list goes on and on. (*=not all pick up drivers do this stuff, but enough do, that I'm comfortable generalizing.)
