You have to jump through so many hoops to be a doctor, and when you finally get to be one, youre already a callous asshole in many occasions.

Why? Meanwhile they import doctors from third world countries who were able to study medicine right after high school, and they didnt need 4.0 GPAs to be able to study medicine or 4.0 GPA med school to get a residency. These doctors often have terrible bedside manner.

Why not just make it easier for local people to become doctors instead?

Though the US healthcare system has many flaws, requiring a "4.0 GPA" isn't one of them. If you are talking about the top 5% of med schools, MAYBE, but most rank in the high 2.0s to high 3.0s, especially at some of the for profit medical schools (lower standards of entry).
From my understanding/experience of medical school systems in UK/Asia (the latter model is based off the former), BECAUSE medicine has the same time line as law/engineering/etc, there are LOT more applicants.. so the GPA DO need to be higher.

Carribean schools take anyone, so they would take 1000+ students which in turn a big percentage of those don't match to get a spot.

I can guarantee you the administration will push that deadline back as far as they like beyond any practicalities if it means the possibility of screwing over minorities.

You guys know the confederate soldiers were drafted, right? As in, they either fought for their state or faced jail time or execution. And you know that only about 5% of the southern families owned slaves (i.e. the very wealthy), right? Meaning that most Confederate infantry soldiers didn't give a shit about defending slavery since they would never possibly be wealthy enough to own one. The Confederate army also included some slaves, recent immigrants, and freed blacks.

If you want to say that the politicians who began the war to maintain slavery were vile, I won't argue with you at all. But if you're going to sit here and say all the soldiers, who were mostly poor and had no choice in the fight, were also garbage, well, that just shows off your own lack of appropriate perspective on history. Many (if not most) actually were good people and deserve recognition from their remaining family. Not for the cause of the war, but their sacrifice.

I know some of you want to think life is like Star Wars with the South being the Evil Empire, but reality is not quite so simple.
