When my sister and I were younger, we used to play games together (when we lived with our parents). Every Christmas we spend a few days just as the four of us - mum, dad, sister, brother. We've moved on - she's engaged and living with her fianc, I'm in a relationship and moved out 12 years ago.

I've kept the old computers in what is now the study at my parents' house. Once a year, for 2 or 3 days, my sister and I stay up until 2am playing Age of Empires. Our parents love it and remark how the only thing that's changed is the drink in our hands - once Coke/orange juice, now beer/vodka.

Today I drove back to my house after Christmas, and as I was driving down the motorway I realised that this kind of thing is what I used to love doing, but haven't done for a while and probably won't do again any time soon.

Back in 2003-2007, I used to host LAN parties with friends. I had 3 cheapy PCs that could run Unreal Tournament, once UT2004 came out I upgraded the machines to run that, we played UT2004 almost religiously every weekend. I still have photos of 17 year old L&T and mates crashing in sleeping bags in the game room.

In 2008 we moved to Guitar Hero. The PCs stayed but two 15" monitors were sold (for a surprisingly large amount) and a 40" plasma TV replaced them. The room then became a console gaming room, with a sofa-bed masquerading as seating, and the old PC desk being replaced by two beer fridges. Guitar Hero and Forza kept us going for a few years.

By 2012 I was living with my then-girlfriend and my friends had also moved on. We still met regularly, but whereas we used to meet to play games, now we met in a pub. Then we went clubbing, nowadays we meet in pubs to play darts, snooker and pool. We still get away once a year but it's usually a road trip or we get the boats out.

TLDR I used to play games and I don't any more. Just thought CE might like an anecdote.

I used to have a 370Z - the 350Z is a very realistic dream car and they're pretty much hovering around the bottom of their depreciation curve at the moment.

Worth getting one sooner rather than later as when cars like that reach this stage in their lives, they tend to get bought by those who can't afford to run them properly (i.e. skimp on maintenance), or get bought by those who stick questionable modifications on it.

Best of the bunch is the later versions of the car with the VQ35VHR engine, sounds fantastic and has a fair amount more power than the earlier versions (306bhp vs 287bhp).

Am I the only one who's bought a 15 waterproof speaker? Great to be able to listen to my music in the shower and see notifications and answer calls (happily, it's usually the missus asking what I want for breakfast as she's up before me).

Note - my phone is waterproof but I like to keep it on charge whilst I'm in the shower.

I love the Far Cry series and it's probably at the top of my list (as a series). I loved the change of pace between FC4, Primal, 5 and New Dawn, but at the moment I think New Dawn is winning. It's so much more organic than the previous games (I wasn't a fan of 5's ending), and I do appreciate how the game doesn't hand you everything on a platter once you've completed all the challenges - there's a lot of replayability value.

Plus, minor spoiler, there's one moment where you go beserk and punch the shit out of the main villian(s), which is something very welcome in a Far Cry game.

As someone who regularly has 4-5 cars on the driveway (3 are mine, 1 is a work car, 1 is my girlfriend's), I agree.

Households that have lots of cars tend not to park them in town and then walk back home. The reason city centres are dying is because councils remove car parks to build fucktons of bus stops and cycle ranks and other shite that nobody who wants to do any actual shopping runs on, and then pikachu face when they see everybody in their cars going to the out-of-city shopping centres with actual car parks.

I've been refunded for less than that. Ordered a burger to take away, drove home and when I opened it, found it had absolutely no toppings. I was in a pretty fed up state of mind so I binned it and asked McD to refund me the burger and perhaps offer a replacement freebie or two in order to make sure the store had their quality control sorted.

They refunded me the burger and sent me four vouchers. I still have two of them, they're great for free late-night food when work drags on a bit.

I hung up my mod gloves a few years back. Made some good friends though, one of the mods actually flew over (ultra long haul) to spend a few days with me. I'm sure the mod staff know who they are, all I can say is that I was disappointed in their lack of drinking ability :D

I have third party el cheapo controllers for player 3 and player 4.

Way I see it, I'm providing the big TV, surround speakers, fully stocked beer fridge, plus the missus will do bacon and eggs in the morning. If you want to play games, bring your own damn controller.

Same way when I have my car friends stay over, I don't offer them the keys to my Jaguar, Mercedes, or Subaru. I drive whatever car I want, they bring their Porsche, Nissan, BMW, Aston Martin etc
