I don't really think anyone ever feels like they have "enough". When I was pushing carts at Meijer as a teenager I was making $5.15/hr, I wanted to be a cashier so I could make the $7.25/hr they make. I did that. Then I got this job, that job, worked through college, each time the money went up I look to the person above me and wanted that.

The partners of my group pull in around 500k annually. So I want that. And when I have it I suspect I'll keep looking up.

Jeff Bezos or however you spell his name probably looks at his money and thinks he could always double it, I doubt he ever thinks, "I have enough."

I don't think anyone really thinks that way, other thank monks

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Two-ish decades ago I thought exactly the same. Then I "got mine" and changed sides. What will you do when you get there? That's an impossible question to answer. The only way to know is get there.

Other than dropping 20k on a home theater (this is detailed a lot in luelinks since it was a hell of a project, 82 inch 8K tv, 7.1 in wall surround sound) since I'm a huge movie buff, I don't really use the money for much either so it mostly just accumulates. I just hate seeing so much get pissed away to taxes. I knew it would happen but it hurts so much to see it happen.

Only other thing I've done is get VIP tickets with my wife and my parents to some sporting events, like next week at OSU - michigan. Other than that the money is just getting invested and banked to save up for a bigger house. Right now we're in the same 2 bedroom condo we've been in for a decade, though that'll probably change in the next 5-6 years (would happen sooner if gubment didn't steal my checks! lol)

I was so excited to vote for Kerry. Was excited for democrat everything. Thought the rich were evil, wanted them to pay bazillions in taxes, etc

flash forward to now. I haven't even reach full partner yet in my group, and still pull 27k/month, give or take a few depending on my hours. that nearly doubles once I'm partner.

and I'm seeing 16k go to taxes/401k/etc each month and it kills me on the inside

Not sure what they'll think now that their 16 month old had a seizure and died from a completely preventable illness. I actually saw him yesterday but checked the chart and kid is gone with nasal PCR positive for pertussis. Classic case. Marked leukocytosis, seizure, etc (the "whoop" isn't always in younger kids)

Second death I've seen from pertussis, the other was about a year old and we flew to Michigan for ECMO before they finally let the kid go from multi-system organ failure.

OTOH, people not vaccinating their kids are a fantastic way to weed out idiot families. Not sure what else to think. Can't force people not to be morons.

Vaccinate! Any and every (alleged...) side effect from any possible vaccine couldn't possibly have been worse than this senseless and 100% preventable death....

Worst thing I hear in the ED

Especially asthmatics that smoke. They need home nebulizer treatments and tell me they can't afford them. I had someone do that to me last week.

Sent her home, honestly she's going to die at some point, and I won't feel a slight shred of guilt since she's effectively doing it to herself despite everyone. I can't admit patients just because they refuse to fill meds.
