I have decided to ditch (in extenuating circumstances) my rule to only take certifications at 100% pass rate. It's helped some of my folks stuck in crappy classes, but also led to my first failure.

Tbh it's RNG based and locked unless 100%. Save and try during the weekend. If it doesn't work, then do a battle or two to level up or raise a skill and try again.

FE: Oh cool, I can train with my "students" now. And....the monastery is kinda not very different otherwise, lol. Interesting that I don't have control over Dmitri's Goals now.

One thing, make sure their skill is higher than yours in what you want to train with them in. Otherwise nothing will happen. Also make sure to keep leveling the statues in the church. The passives are worth it.

Currently having issues with the paralogue where Manuela is bumrushed by flyers and that's my fault somehow.

That one I had Ashe as a Sniper and Petra as a flight unit to defend her. But you should be able to save her with your own flight units.

The gameplay is good though. Fucking sucks that your perks are mostly shit. Wasn't scary and had shit sections, but gameplay was solid most of the time.

I still don't entirely get how accessing magic works, or have a handle on my long-term teambuilding plans.

Everyone has a spell list for themselves. What they can access depends on 2 thing class and skill level. Classes with access to magic will be able to use magic, but aren't limited to magic only. Skill levels are raised via lessons or use. My advice would be to have Byleth also learn some magic so he can give better lessons, plus his list of spells is good.

The first Dune book is definitely the best, though I enjoyed the rest too. Almost no one likes 2 and 3 better than 1, so that's a weird recommendation...

I'm one of the few that prefer them to the first, in the sense that it gives you a better appreciation of what was set up in book 1. Though you can make the argument that book 2 is just the other half of Dune, since it's more or less the fallout of book 1 but with spice babies. And 3 being the one to finally deal with the fallout of Paul's decisions.

Then again my favorite one of the series is God Emperor of Dune, since I like the entire hell that Leto built for himself and humanity. All to save it via genetic manipulation in order to make sure that humanity would be immune to future sight, would hate centralized government and actually advance technology. As well as have spice.

No, that's still in. But it's unlocked later in the game. And even then it works differently.

Not sure I'm digging the in-battle graphics, though- everything in the tutorial fight was super fancy but I had trouble parsing the map.

You can adjust the camera. I'd suggest pulling it back as much as possible for better movement. Also adjust the speeds. Oh, and remember to have fun.

Blue Lions, Golden Deer and Black Eagles is what I would refer to as the recommended order. But I'll admit to doing it backwards since I liked the characters in Black Eagles more. Just in case look up the students per house and the pick.

Multiple routes, plus different characters per route. And then there's unlocking the secret character. So it'll take a while and it's possible to get lost in the plot. Not that PLOT. Though there are swimsuit costumes if you're interested in that PLOT. Basically it's a time sink and I found it better to focus on it than play it alongside other games.

Alternatively play Extella Link, it's not a precise sequel, so no particular knowledge of the previous game is needed, but it is somewhat helpful. And the combat is better. Bigger cast too.

Body horror is an art. Slow decay, fast decay, adding or subtracting pieces, making things look wrong in an uncomfortable way. Not just disgusting or repulsive but an innate wrongness. Tetsuo is a good example of that for me.

Uzumaki would've been fine since I've read the manga and seen the film. But I had also seen the Collection too so doesn't really matter. I take it you're not a big fan of it?

Next year you can probably nominate the Uzumaki anime though!

It didn't scare me the same way the manga did. Ito for me is like shoving an icicle into my back, cold and creepy. This one just didn't make me feel that creeping horror.

Don't worry, he's a big softie later on. Especially once you get to abuse him. There's a skill that allows you to get more money from him after he takes it from you. So you can snowball your gains. Also he's a good reason to stock up on staminanxx. Grab a weapon, heat move, gain heat via item, grab weapon, heat move, repeat.

It's also actually faithful to the source manga.

It's one hell of a multiverse, you should check out Violence Jack and Devilman Lady if you want to see the continuation. Just be aware it's pretty damn NSFW in some parts and Violence Jack is a slow burn.
