I'm oblivious to how big Welcome Home is in rock/metal circles, to me it's always been "that song from the trailer for 9"...

The Made in Abyss movie was a wild ride and left me very emotionally exhausted! I remember hearing what sounded like a spiritual successor to Tomorrow in it, but haven't tried looking it up yet.

Zombieland Saga pitch because it's my sworn duty: It's a great parody of idol shows that sneakily transitions into a genuine idol show of its own. There's a lot of slapstick comedy but it's also really good at playing with different genres and moods when it wants to. I love the songs for being really distinct from one another and the full range of such a diverse group of voices! Unfortunately, this also means there's no more hard rock/metal songs to recommend*. Also it has Okabe Rintarou yelling at zombie idols!

Just for fun, I decided to run some alternative bracket scenarios for VGMC 13 based on each song's X-Stats (thanks to Janus for providing those last year). Of course, X-Stats are based on your vote share in a directly or indirectly extrapolated match against the champion, so close eliminations are more important than how far you actually got. Since EXSPHERE_NOSURGE will always win using this ranking, I can shake things up by adding a random disturbance to each song, where a spread of 5 means a random adjustment between -5 and +5. To start, though, I just wanted to see how the retirees might change if I used the X-Stats as is (spread set to 0), but with seeding order into the bracket randomized instead. From there, the spreadsheet just simulates each match with the higher X-Stats always winning.

Scenario A1: DNF FW15C makes the finals; other new retirees are That Person's Name Is, ENDYMION, Life Will Change, Mt. Vesuvius, Full Base, A. Rene, and Laurara's Dance. Favourable bracket definitely helping A. Rene here, who lost 24-25 to Gokinjo Battle in round 2 of the actual bracket, a respectable opponent but not exactly a powerhouse!

Scenario A2: New new retirees are Snake Eater, Kill Command, and The Final Song, with Mt. Vesuvius, DNF FW15C, Life Will Change, and ENDYMION returning from Scenario A1. The Final Song redeemed after losing instantly to the champion during the contest!

Scenario A3: New new retirees are Rhuzerv, Under the Moon, The End of the Raging Waves (woohoo), and Gokinjo Battle, with DNF FW15C, ENDYMION, A. Rene (again wow), and Full Base returning from previous scenarios. Groove Coaster 2's Under the Moon lost 21-26 to Pac Twin Attack in round 1, but somehow makes the retirement round here!

You see quite a few names now who lost close matches to "strong" opponents in the actual bracket, like That Person's Name Is (23-25 ENDYMION in round 2), Laurara's Dance (25-30 Full Base in round 1), Full Base (23-23, 24-25 New World Order in round 2), Snake Eater (20-25 Innocence & Emptiness in round 2), and The Final Song (17-23 EXSPHERE_NOSURGE in round 2).

Now let's have a bit more fun by adding the random spread of 5 to get some new winners!

Community-voted second chance instead of byes sounds like too much work, and would probably have a lot of inconclusive 9-way polls

Retirees is something I'd like to see, just not within the main bracket. It could be a secondary event to celebrate the end of the decade, or save it for next year to celebrate 15 years (might be best to run in the period following VGMC rather than alongside it).

Mirror Magic good! I was completely torn between that and Golden Feather last year, and there should be increased interest with the sizeable Celeste thread currently up on the board.

If one of the goals of 192 is to make the pool more diverse, could we consider making the doubles mechanic more impactful? With 5 extra votes that must be on unique songs, you can basically save 5 songs that are on the cusp of getting in, but you're still relying on getting a couple supports just like with a non-doubled nom. It only does a little bit for song diversity because the songs that got in thanks to a double would have been close to getting in anyway. If it was something like 2 triples or 1 quadruple, you'd have more power to save a few overlooked songs instead of having it spread out over 5 of them.

Another way would be to allow 5 extra votes that can be distributed however you like, so you'd have the option of giving +5 to a single song or +3 to one song and +2 to another. Yeah, I think this means everyone has one guaranteed nom if they choose the +5, but only if they love a song so much that they'd sacrifice the chance to save other songs for it (at first I thought of just letting everyone have one guaranteed nom, but it probably makes more sense to make it part of the doubling system).

Oh wow, I really loved these last two episodes - we're reaching peak levels of teen angst Steven! To tell the truth, I thought this season was lacking direction and felt slow during the middle episodes, but am totally on board with the era of Future after the latest airing. Shame that we have to go on hiatus now, but what a way to end it! My favourites of this batch were Rose Buds, Snow Day, Little Graduation, and Prickly Pair. Steven is basically going through what the Gems went through with him in Snow Day

Also I just found out about the new credits since I've been watching the TV rips; we're getting another credits vocal song! There's already been 3 versions and it sounds really nice so far.
