Honestly, children just don't bring me joy. It's not just "oh, kids suck," but the idea of creating a life and watching it grow just does nothing for me on a fundamental soul level. Of course you sound like a villain if you say so out loud, but it's my truth.

I love Home Alone and watch it every year, but only saw part 2 for the first time a couple weeks ago. It was good, but the parts with the robbers went on waaay too long and were boring and unfunny. It just lacked the same kind of charm in way I couldn't quite put my finger on.

Its usually from some socially inept NEETs that cant handle the most minimal amount of human interaction possible. When they get greeted in store the mumble back "H-hi" and bury their face in the ground. After they pick out their pokemon game of choice and go to pay for it, they stare at the counter the entire transaction. When the guy at the register asks if they want to sign up for powerup rewards, they mumble and stammer again, prompting the guy to ask again because he couldnt understand. When they finally work up the courage to say an audible "no" the transaction can be completed and they can leave.

The whole time they are driving the Honda Civic home, they stew and get offended by the audacity that the jackass clerk had to try and up sell them and swindle them. They think about things that they could have said and done that would have been totally badass and really put him in his place (though they would never really act on these power fantasies). When they get home, the first thing they do is make a "Gamestop horror stories thread" where they explain about that shitty wage slave trying to pull a fast one, and how every time they go to gamestop they are constantly harassed from the moment they walk in the door.

At least thats how i see it
This made me laugh, but the objective fact is their up-selling truly is relentless. I don't go there for games (just action figures, mostly) and don't really have a reason to badmouth GameStop otherwise, but yeah, it's by far the worst I've ever seen and a huge turn-off.

I have never, ever received an item I pre-orded on Amazon on its release date, whether it be a game or book or whatever. As someone who only buys physical media I've always enjoyed waiting outside the store, waiting for it to open so I can run in and grab my new toy, so to speak, and this just kinda reinforces why.

You can buy the complete series on DVD, but no, it hasn't come to bluray. But I believe Friends was released on bluray a year or two ago so you never know.

However the above poster may be correct, that streaming will be the way to go. As someone who still buys all my media physically - movies, TV, books, games, and even music - I find this very unfortunate. It's nice to "own" something.

I will do you one better and tell you I watch it home on bluray every other month or so. It's hilarious and well-written and I freakin' love it, and honestly have rather seen a sequel to that than whatever Disney after-school special the trailer dropped for a few days ago. I think everyone who hates the last movie - or pretends to, since half of them clearly never actually saw it - and is hyping this new one are in for a rude shock. I don't see how anyone who thought a female cast was a bad idea doesn't think an all-kid cast isn't an even worse one.

But, whatever. Pick your battles.

I didn't modify my diet a whole lot in terms of types of food, but admit that cancer was also in the mix a couple years ago and I never quite got my full appetite back after treatment, so it's overall been less food on top of being more physically active.

PsychicHippo
11/22/19 9:24:04 AM

I don't know if shame is the right word here, but yeah, more people should definitely take the time to stop and think how their words and actions can affect others. The problem is most of this happens online through social media where they have the luxury of hiding behind a screen, so they never get to see any consequences firsthand. But even then, I don't know why it's so hard to still be decent and engage in thoughtful, mature conversation, even with people you disagree with. In fact, I've found the quickest way to get people to shut up is to remain calm and ask them to explain themselves. They just throw out a buzzword like "hater" and move on.
