I suppose it could be a fan, but it seems like you may have ruled that out. With some modern variable speed drives they sometimes make odd noises that are a little like a dying drive but possibly not. My best advice at this point, check the following site and look up some videos on Youtube involving drives with clicking which are actually dead or dying. Knowing what the noise is won't help you fix a dying drive, but if you can't identify the noise (or, in fact, if you can) it may not actually be dying.

http://datacent.com/hard_drive_sounds.php

Also, there's an element of common sense. You know your own device better than anyone else. If you've had it for a length of time, you know what it normally sounds like and if this new sound is something you could have overlooked before or if it's genuinely something new. If it has a long history of not making odd noises, the likelihood of its failing obviously increases.

Not to fill you with potentially false hope or anything, but I have a pair of drives that have periodically made odd noises since I first put them into service. I was, to put it diplomatically, rather concerned in the beginning. They've been at nearly 100% uptime for almost 9 years.
@Red_Frog

i haven't ruled out anything, didn't even think of the fans. i honestly have no idea, most have said and when i read on clicking sounds point to the HDD failing.

one person even said its normal that its the sound of a mechanic hard drive loading. have no idea what that means, i generally thought clicking sounds = bad. that's one opinion out of many i've heard.

thank you for your help.

Seeing as it's just a console though, you only really need to backup your saves, if you don't cloudsave with PS+.

I'm not aware if you can even backup the individual games unless you use an external HDD.

yeah i have PS+ which i think auto backs saves too. i typically play one game at a time before i play another although i keep multiple games that i keep downloaded in a folder as a potential next to play game. so as far as backing up i don't really see the point.

i use the system every day from anywhere to 3-6 hours i'm guessing, and my idea is to keep on using it as i am. even though i feel stressed when using it cause i mostly hear of HDD failure and i keep worrying. i keep trying to calm myself by saying if it breaks i'll just get another one and to just relax a bit and maybe its not as bad as i keep thinking. been feeling very over worked up lately.

is it possible it could be anything other than the HDD? it wasn't happening in any game i played before that one, and it doesn't seem to be happening in the one i'm playing now,

it was definitely a different kind of sound though, like the ps4 does make cracking and popping sounds from the plastic which is normal, but this was more like a ticking/clicking sound. only on loading screens, the game was digital btw i don't play many disc games these days.

system to break?

i was playing the my hero academia game on ps4 for a week and on every loading screen the system would make 1-3 clicking sounds. i was told that clicking sounds may signify hard drive failure.

however the system has been fine, i started another game last night and been playing it today and there haven't been issues. but say if the hard drive were breaking, how long would it take? a short while, or awhile? i want to keep using the system as is, and feel like if i use the system long enough without issues like a couple of weeks that maybe there isn't anything wrong with the hard drive. just been highly concerned, thanks.

I've tried some mindfulness stuff using youtube but not Yoga. It sort of works me for but everyone is different and it takes practice. I find a walk to be much more sufficient for my needs. I imagine it would be the same for me when it comes to Yoga. No harm in giving it a go though I guess.
@wwinterj25

like mantra's? would like to see what it is that you use.

yeah maybe i need to give the walking some more time. since i've been reading about low impact kind of exercises being sufficient for depression, besides i cant really do anything overly intense, even when i was able to i didn't much care for it.

shamefully for some odd reason the first session of walking at a somewhat fast pace for 40 minutes i cried an hour later, and i haven't cried in over a year when my cat died. i felt much more depressed after that session, i guess my chemicals/hormones or whatever are really out of balance or something.

Start with stuff like this. Basic searches for "yoga exercises" or "beginners yoga" can net you a ton of video suggestions. Looking at the view count can also give you an idea of how popular they are, which usually indicates how good they are.

I just mentioned my weights because people say they NEED to go to gyms because of the exercise machines that are offered there.

You don't need machines at all. With free weights, you just need to do the right exercises with them to hit all the important muscle groups.

Gyms are a total waste of money. Plus you have to drive to the gym, and people often get lazy and say they don't feel like going.

But you are always in your own home...so why not just exercise there? lol

Good luck!!!!
well before seeing your post i just did this one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sxddnugwu-8

maybe a little short was 15 minutes but i was doing some shit i've never done before lol. i couldn't keep up at times which messed with the idea of it being relaxing because i was frantically trying to get to the next pose lol.

i checked that one out due to as you said the view count, but also the comments were all positive. i'm going to give it another go tomorrow and check out the one you linked. thanks for the help!

i can say for the short time i spent doing it, i don't exactly feel relieved but i feel somewhat different, i think it'll be more effective once i'm able to keep up and get use to it lol.

the mat i'm using isn't exactly the largest but i seen her make positions off the mat too so i guess its ok to leave the mat with certain poses lol.

To be completely honest, there are so many good, 100% free, and well-made exercise videos on YouTube, I honestly don't know why people go to gyms.

All you need are some free weights....and there are countless exercises you can do with just your own body....and nail all the important spots.

Yoga mats are literally like $20 at Wal-Mart.

I have a set of 20 pound weights, and 35 pound weights. Probably cost me $50 bucks for the set.

That's $70 for a mat and brand new weights. And you could probably find cheaper at flea markets and shit. Or your neighbor when he puts them out for spring clean-up.

Youtube "good exercise routines".

The hardest part is committing to them.
i have a yoga mat, i've just actually never done it before. i didn't know yoga requires weights i thought it was mostly stretches and breathing sort of thing lol.

any particular videos you recommend if you know any on hand?

yeah that's the truth, many times i've started and stopped exercise in the course of my life. i think i'm at a spot though where i gotta do something for my mind and attempt sticking with it.

i've been thinking about trying this for some time, but not sure whats worth it, and whats not.

not sure if anyone here knows of whats worth it.

i have been walking on the treadmill for 40 minutes the past couple of days and feel more depressed than when i started. i don't know why, i'm not use to exercise in general, because i have tarsal coalition in my feet so avoid anything that triggers the pain. but my depression has been pretty bad as of late, so kinda trying to force myself to do some physical activity.

i was diagnosed with asperger's when i was young, in 4th grade.

around the time i turned 25 a couple of years ago it seems like i've developed symptoms of bipolar. i am not sure if its just the asperger's though and the medication i'm on. i am on zoloft which is an anti-depressant, and rispiridone which is a mood stabilizer. i have been on both for many years.

i have read that zoloft can cause mania symptoms, which i get on and off. i go through bouts of severe depression where it lasts for an eternity where everything feels awful and nothing makes me happy, then i get periods of elevated moods like the past 6 days where i feel like i'm on some drug, but don't take any drugs. never have.

unlike manic/mania i don't get risky behaviors however, just feel like doing more of what i typically like, like video games.

after reading about bipolar its made me think if i'm ever actually ever truly happy or if its just these episodes i get.

the rispiridone is suppose to cancel out the manic episodes, however i take them before sleep because taking them during the day makes me feel very tired.

i was wondering for those that take these kind of medications if taking the mood stabilizers during the day is more effective in the long run, because i know what awaits next bad depression. or what kind of strategies other people have with these kinds of mood disorders.

thank you for taking the time to read, didn't mean to type this much but i guess i made things a bit more clear.

yeah its something apparently genetic that you are born with, i don't know my father or his side of the family well enough to know who it came from. but my mothers side of the family definitely has flat feet and a lot of arthritis type issues. especially my grand mother who started experiencing knees, feet, everything around my age. i had knee issues as a kid, oschgoodschalter's(definite sp? on that one.)

i still get knee pain on and off, around when i turned 20 is when my feet acted up during exercising and was persistent for a long time, took awhile to figure it out. then my wrists started acting up which i found out i had dequervain's from using the PS3 controller back then. that started getting better after a long time but i still get flare ups so i take glucosamine for awhile and it gets better.

tarsal coalition eventually turns into arthritis from my understanding. however the surgery is a major one, and you cant walk for 6 months so i've read, i even read there might be a chance of not being able to walk again. besides not sure if my insurance would cover it since its currently not debilitating, but very painful when it hits. certainly adds to depression in the summer heat.

i was diagnosed in my early twenties after multiple trips to foot doctors an MRI and CAT scan finally found that i had this, although only my left foot was the one to get the scans, back then for a few years i was experiencing the pain in both feet around the arch area.

over time the pain settled but it took a very long time, however back at the end of May the pain has resurfaced in my right foot again, and it sucks to feel it again. walking, standing, any kind of movement puts pain on it, seemingly hurts through everything.

i was wondering what others with this rare foot condition have been doing to relieve their pain? i know surgery is recommended but unfortunately that is out of the question for me. i don't even remember where the place was that i got diagnosed and its been about 6-7 years.(i just turned 27 recently.)

i have been taking glucosamine chondroitin msm which seems like it helps, also read about doing calf raises daily that seems to relieve pain. but after some time the pain returns strong so i try not to move as much as i'm able.

was wondering if there's some good exercises i can do that don't require much use of the feet that don't agitate them. i might need to drop some weight i'm a little over 200 pounds. or any other kind of recommendations others have who have this.

it means someone hacked into your email get a new email account before they steal all your money

@CharlesBronson

i don't know if you are trying to upset me i have aspergers and stress very easy.

don't think its hack related as the android only pops up when i sign in on Brave no other browsers. i had technical difficulties with Brave this morning where it kept freezing so reinstalled it. and now whenever i sign into Gmail on it its listed as another Android, but on no other browser.

i also noticed when i try signing in the numbers in the link keep changing. now i deleted Brave. when i remove the other android it doesn't come back when i sign in other browsers, just on Brave, and everything was fine last night, I turned on my tablet this morning and when using Brave it said not responding and froze a bunch of times. Play Protect detects nothing wrong with my device, however on the Google store it says Brave may not be optimized for my device.

ok i think its something to do with my tablet being recognized as two separate androids. on the Brave browser its listed as Android, and in other browsers its listed as RCA Voyager. RCA Voyager is what this tablet is called, not sure why my tablet is being listed as two different devices though.

on google it said there was another android connected in the devices, when i have one android and one laptop connected to my email not 3. i changed the password of my email and playstation account.

however i'm not sure if it might have been some kind of mistake because when i check activity logs in my email i only see my IP there?

idk very anxious right now, and would like to find out where the device was coming from. but should i just change emails or is changing passwords good enough? i just switched from AOL to Gmail earlier in the year, wouldn't want to switch to another email again.
