But I was eating alot and got fat. My bench went from 115 to 200, my squat went from 135 to 275, my deadlift went from 135 to 315. But I looked like a centaur. SS is boring, don't want to do that again. Also I will be replacing flat bench with incline bench. I hurt my rotator cuff last year, so incline is alot easier on my cuff. I went SL to PHUL and then did like 5 more routines after 1/2/3/4. Most of it was a waste of time. I realized I wanted to lift for aesthetics, even though I wasn't lifting for girls. I was doing strength programs, which was just a waste of time. I started using John Meadows' method: - do 1 working set per lift - if you want to do x sets for chest, then do x different lifts with 1 set each I combined it with Mike Israetel's volume recommendations: https://www.reddit.com/r/weightroom/comments/6674a4/dr_mike_israetels_training_tips_for_hypertrophy/ I got more aesthetic gains in 3 months than I had in the past 2 years. It also has the added benefit that you get a ton of variety of different exercises and can mix up your routine every day. Lets you try new lifts without sacrificing a significant amount of gains.
