Remember when Harvey Dent was black in Batman 1989 and no one cares.

Those old Batman movies had some interesting cast suggestions.
WB wanted a big star as Batman, and names like Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner, Charlie Sheen, Tom Selleck, Bill Murray, Harrison Ford and Dennis Quaid were suggested.
Burton wanted a smaller name, and tried to get Ray Liotta to sign up. He wasnt interested.
Burton also tried Pierce Brosnan, but he got no interest in playing a comic character.
Willem Dafoe was another actor that was not interested.
Brad Dourif, Tim Curry, David Bowie, John Lithgow and James Woods were considered for the Joker. Burton really wanted Dourif, but WB said no.
Robin Williams lobbied hard for the part.
Sean Young was originally cast as Vicki Vale, but she had a horseriding accident so she couldnt do the movie. Michelle Pfeiffer thanked no to the role.
Irish child actor Ricky Addison Reed was cast as Dick Grayson before the character was removed .
Burton chose Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent because he wanted to include the villain Two-Face in a future film using the concept of an African-American Two-Face for the black and white concept.

Batman Returns...
Dustin Hoffman was originally the first choice to play the Penguin, but he declined. Apart from Hoffman, Marlon Brando, John Candy, Bob Hoskins, Ralph Waite, Dean Martin, Dudley Moore, Alan Rickman, John Goodman, Phil Collins, Charles Grodin, Christopher Lee, Joe Pesci, Ray Liotta, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Rocco and Christopher Lloyd were all considered for the part before DeVito got it.
Annette Bening was cast as the Catwoman, but she got pregnant and had to leave. Susan Sarandon, Meryl Streep (who was considered "too old" by Burton), Brooke Shields (whom Burton considered "not bankable"), Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman (who ended up playing Dr. Chase Meridian in Batman Forever), Jodie Foster, Geena Davis, Sigourney Weaver, Lena Olin, singer Madonna, Raquel Welch, Cher, Ellen Barkin, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Lorraine Bracco, Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Beals were also considered for the role.
Two-Face was originally planned to appear in the movie, but it felt like it would have too many of the bignamed bad guys, so his role turned into Max Shreck instead. David Bowie was planned to play Shreck, but he decided to appear in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me instead.
Burgess Meredith, the actor who played the Penguin in the 1960s Batman TV series, was originally asked to play Penguins fathet, but he declined due to his health problems.
One of the first scripts had the Penguin and Catwoman going after a hidden treasure. Burton disliked it, so it got rewritten. Another dropped plot point was to have him freeze Gotham, which was reused in Batman & Robin.
Harvey Dent appeared in early drafts of the script. His disfiguring appearance of Two-Face would have appeared in the climax when Catwoman kisses him with a taser to the face. Another idea was to have one scene of him where he flips a coin and it's the good side of the coin, deciding not to do anything, so you had to wait for the next movie.
Robin was included in early scripts. He started out as a juvenile gang leader, who becomes an ally to Batman. He was later changed to a black teenage garage mechanic, wearing this old-fashioned garage mechanic uniform and it has an R on it.
Marlon Wayans was cast, and signed for a sequel. He had a wardrobe fitting, but it was decided to save the character for the third movie.
