Depending on the length, she could make it so that the trial is happening literally in the final weeks of the general election. That's not likely to happen, but it will be far less than 11 months when all is said and done.

No, I understand it just fine - after Democrats paid for foreign dirt on Trump and failed to corroborate any of it, the FBI lied to a FISA judge about it to launch a wiretapping campaign against the Trump campaign. They then took that evidence and launched an investigation into the duly-elected President, which Democrats lied about with the hopes of getting him impeached because they believed the 2016 results were illegitimate. When it came out that there was literally zero evidence for their claims, a Biden lackey in the intelligence community claimed to have first-hand knowledge of Trump committing a crime. Call transcripts proved that wasn't the case, but Democrats lied about that as well, and used their lies to push a narrative that wasn't true, based on literal focus-testing in Presidential battleground states.

Abuse of power is literally the most textbook impeachable offense. It's why impeachment was put into the constitution. You can read the founders saying exactly that. Anyone who doesn't acknowledge that shouldn't be talking about impeachment.

And why are people gloating about/giving Republicans a pass on voting to excuse an obvious abuse of power? That's YOUR constitutional system that's being destroyed as we speak. If impeachment doesn't work even in obvious cases, we literally have a different system of government than what's written in the constitution. Due to partisanship and because one party is corrupted to the core, the President may be completely unaccountable even when trying to influence the election which is the only check on them.

My guess is that they want this over with by the time the election really kicks in, so they can focus on election stuff instead of having a drawn-out impeachment. When Clinton was impeached, his popularity went up. They'll want to avoid that with Trump, so they just do this thing as concisely as possible then move on.

Which is exactly why the Senate is going to drag the trial on as long as possible - also, a bunch of Dem Presidential nominees would be forced off the campaign trail during the course of it.

It's absolutely hilarious to watch.

I'm saying they're the same. If what Trump did is impeachable, then literally everything involving Russiagate was impeachable, as well as Biden's quid-pro-quo to save his son.

Keep in mind that the only reason lefties call Trump's quid-pro-quo 'abuse of power' is because they want to spin the narrative to be about 2020, and not about 2016.
