I think this was my takeaway after seeing TRoS and having some time to think about the trilogy as a whole. Like the prequels, the second movie was the worst, but I think TFA being a little bit better than TPM as the first movie made the trilogy a little bit better in my eyes. TFA was mostly ANH rehashed but reviewers loved it. TLJ shook things up and reviewers still loved it.
