I teach in a title 1 school, people would say it's in the "hood", and I can somewhat confirm this. I spend half my day telling kids to say dumb or stupid instead of the R-word. I actually had one kid who used the word A LOT and when I corrected him he says to me "I would never call someone who's got a disability R-word" and later that year he got in a fight with another kid who was actually bullying the lifeskills students.

With all that said, this is a grown man who put it in a written tweet and then hit share, so there's really no excuse.

It is a systematic issue, but it's still within the individual's locus of control. Trust me I get it, I work in a title 1 high school and I see kids come in with chips and soda for breakfast, but we do educate the kids on proper diet. Even though the school breakfast (which is free to all students) may not taste fantastic, it's still healthier than what they get at the corner store. The options and education are there, whether people, or kids take it, is up to them.

Re watched it yesterday and it wasn't terrible, but definitely not great. I think what I disliked the most was that it tried to incorporate too much goofy humor. Star Wars was never about punchlines, but The Last Jedi tried to make it that way.
