Some kind of relative of mine actually wrote a book about my father's family tree back in the early nineties I believe, not long after I was born. He succeeded in tracing my family back to when we apparently first migrated from Germany to the Netherlands, which happened around 1500. It lists names, dates of birth, professions, addresses, major occurrences and most deaths too. Pretty darn interesting (to me).

All family members got a copy, including my very young self, but I haven't seen it in years. I think my dad has it lying around somewhere. I actually forgot all about this book until I read this topic, so thanks for reminding me, tc!

incest
/nsst/

sexual relations between people classed as being too closely related to marry each other.

If it's legal to marry your cousin, wherever you live, then it's not incest no matter how hard you tried, sorry

Well, it was back in 1849,
at the Springfield Golden Nugget Mine,
that my great grandma Dolores saved the day.

You mean like the way that it is described by Zuko's uncle.

Speaking of good old animated uncle Iroh, remember his favourite tea, jasmin tea? I just want to say that jasmin tea is the best tea indeed. But not just any kind, because I had a cup of jasmin pearl tea this summer, and now I don't want to live without it. If you ever see this tea in a shop or restaurant, I implore you to try it. Even if it's the first cup of tea in your life, after a life of hating tea.

Nope. Having a penis naturally however does.

A common misconception. Allow me to elaborate:

Jokes aside, obviously the army does not make anyone more or less of a man (or woman) than they already are. You only need genetics for that. If you're talking about the cultural and societal male and female division, the different tasks we are expected to perform and the gender roles placed upon us, then joining the army will possibly increase your manliness as perceived by certain groups of people. Just like driving a Porsche, eating meat, or having big muscles. However, all of those things are purely cultural.

We just got one here in my city (somewhere in Europe). It's disgusting. No one I know likes the food there fortunately; I mostly see obese people going in.

Well, he sure as fuck hasn't made your country 'great' or 'again', so he really does deserve another run, don't you think? :')

The thing is, if it hadn't been for cotton eye Joe, you could have had a switch a long time ago.

Also, the switch has been out for a while and it's not really that expensive anymore. You probably could have had one already, or save up and get one pretty quickly. So get to work, Joe!

Hold up. This is for real? There are currently actual human beings donating their resources to these dumb as shit parents with the hopes of resurrecting a dead girl? You know... something that never can or will happen? And this is legal in the United States? That's incredible! It seems the American Dream really does come in many shapes and sizes, doesn't it.

And these darn parents. They should have read more books than just the bible, if they read that at all. I don't recall reading about large amounts of money reversing death. Also, why would people pay the parents in the first place? Shouldn't the parents be paying the people who are wasting their time praying for this Christmas miracle? Wouldn't that make more sense? Fuck. All jokes aside, the parents are either psychotic after the death of their daughter, sociopaths who see this as an opportunity to earn some quick cash or simply unfathomably stupid. I wonder which it is, but my adult cynicism is leaning towards them being sociopaths.

This is absolutely horrible and hilarious. How can so many 'educated' human beings misinterpret both Christianity and capitalism at the same time? Do they even know how many barely-living children they can potentially save with 60.000 dollars? Boy oh boy.

If you recognize yourself in my cynicism, please don't forget that many of us humans are inherently stupid and wasteful creatures. Don't be surprised by religious fanaticism or other dumb shit like this happening every once in a while over the course of your life. In this instance, be glad it's for something as 'innocent' as a resurrection as opposed to female circumcision, the anti gay movement, the crusades or the prevention of sexual education, to name a few other great things religion has a hand in.
