So it's better to keep it illegal where people will do it anyway with no oversight and no regulation and piss poor education.

Sure.

Anyway if you're only going to cherry pick segments of my posts to respond to, this isn't worth my time. Tried having an open discussion, apprently you aren't here for that.

You don't need a supervisor to drink a beer.

You don't need a supervisor to smoke a joint.

You need a supervisor to eat the mushrooms.

I see the possible positive effects of making it accessible as part of a treatment. I do not see any benefits to society making it legal recreationally though. There are less reasons for it to be illegal I'm sure, but I wouldn't want access to it to grow, not as a parent.

So don't grow it? Just because you wouldn't do it doesn't mean no one else should have the right

And you might not need supervision to have a couple beers but if you were planning on drinking a couple liters of vodka you might want a plan in place for when shit goes south.

I wasn't saying "always have a trip sitter", I said "if you are going to take a huge dose maybe have some plans in place"

And one of the problems with shrooms that causes people to inadvertently take too much is that different strains have wildly different potencies, and the fact that preparation prior to being sold is inconsistent. Sometimes they are thoroughly dried and have lost most their water weight, sometimes they aren't. And almost no consumer is going to be able to properly identify the specific strain they are buying.

Sometimes half a gram is plenty. Sometimes you need a few grams. Sometimes they arent dried at all and you need several. On the black market, there is no oversight, no labelling, no standard to meet. Decriminalization and eventual legalization means this is less and less of a problem.

Why would it be ridiculous that opening your mind to new pathways of perception could have great benefits to depression, an illness often rooted in perception?

Obviously it's not a cureall, and it wont work for all cases of depression, but sometimes people just need to get outside their own damn head.

There could be chemical components to this antidepressant effect too, I dont know and the research probably isn't thorough enough yet to show that clearly either. But this was my take on the studies I read, interpreted in part through my own experience.

Also the take of "I've done them plenty and had good experiences and bad ones and they should definitely be illegal" is so weird. It was fine for you to make that choice but not for others? I've had bad trips too, and I've seen people have awful ones. So long as you aren't careless and take precaution before dosing you can prevent serious mishap. Banning them because some people are fucking stupid is fucking stupid. You would have to be rallying for the ban of alcohol if you thought this. Alcohol isn't a psychedelic, sure, but if anything that makes people even more careless with it because "it's just booze bro" or whatever.

If teenagers can get together and make sure no one is going to be able to jump out a window, so can most anyone. Maybe just don't take massive doses without proper assistance and precautions in place (trusted and experienced trip sitter, your preferred benzo to snap you out of a bad trip if available).

Too lazy to find links but a number of studies within the past few years have shown psilocybin to have incredibly powerful, near-immediate anti-depressant effects on many patients. One dosing can have a dramatic effect that last weeks, time enough for many people to pull themselves out of a bad place and get back on track without daily medicines that are costly, take ages for effects to be noticeable, and don't have as dramatic of effects.

finished it the other day. absolutely loved it

i dunno about rankings but klaus is the best, five is probably close but i don't think i like him as much as most people (still love him tho).

luther definitely at the bottom. i like vanya more than most people it seems. everyone else is kind of fighting for the middle pretty evenly.

without much thought I guess I would do...

klaus
vanya
five
allison
ben
diego
luther

honestly vanya/five are probably interchangable

i liked hazel's story a lot but i agree with whoever said his actor was bad. cha cha was fun but i would have liked to see her get a more developed arc. feels lame that mary j blige got a mostly one-note character.

pogo was p cool, and i absolutely loved mom. leonard was frustrating as fuck and his romance arc with vanya was probably the weakest part of her story. i get it/how it happened but it was frustrating to watch and not in an enjoyable way

also man is it good to see robert sheehan in a good role again. i love him so much and i feel like he hasn't had much of a good career since he left misfits. maybe I just missed it, but he really kills it in this role.
