I'll go back and check for this since I don't remember it. From what I've read of Sbell he seemed to be having more...I dunno, "fun" so far? He was scum in 2019 and did not much of anything. There is a bit more jump in his step here.

If I was antagonizing her, I would be pointing out that she should be modkilled for bringing up "modkillable" outside the game information into the game. Telling her she is a bad person for doing it. And, that she should quit.

I am not the only person in this boat. And, Crescent, can't magically will away what she inserted. I can't unknow it.

Just to clarify, my reasons for thinking DYL is scum has nothing to do with Crescent. I am far too honorable to give someone scum points for out of game reasons, or even bring it up (and we should probably stop talking about it CORRIK).

However, her bringing it up mad me think she was town, because that is something only like scum Corrik or scum Ben would fake. The most devious of the devious. I don't think Crescent presents "super secret reasons I can't say" without actually having them.

Mzero is sneakily one of the most well thought town players this board has with deductive reasoning. Up there with Panthera, Suprak, and Chris.

The problem is his timezones don't match up well in many games so he has no one to interact with a lot when he is on.

Mzero can deduce a game and figure it out with the best of them. However, he does nothing at all with his time as scum. He is scum this game.

What is an example of a CLASSIX MZero town game? I can't really think of one, being an old man and having not played since 19 dickity 2.

No. All he claims to know from his role PM (at first) is Simpson family is scum and Bart Simpson is on the scum team. He later revised that, but that was his mindset at the start of the game.

From gut, my strongest town read is suprak. Gears are turning and he's trying to solve things.

From occulam's razor, ben is town because it takes a lot of mental gymnastics to justify his behavior as anything else. Maybe he has an insane scum role but like, again, keep it simple for day 1 at least.

By extension, Lea is either utterly reckless scum (relentless face punching, claiming a flavor who is known to be a kill target) or town. Town is easier to explain at the moment.

Go through my three hypotheticals, please! I ask you as your humble town read who is hoping for a bunch of posts to comb through when I get back tonight.

(We do agree that Lea is super strong town read though!)

Ah. I probably don't use it the way Ben has been using it. I'd probably try to get claims out of people without tipping my hat so to speak. There is the concern of being killed night 1(Or day 1 as the situation may be!), but ultimately I feel like just ordinary town play would be the best move.

You would get claims?

Remember, Ben claims to be town who thinks his target is scum. What good would claims do you?

If it's a beneficial power, I use it on my strongest town read. If it's a negative power, I try to pressure my current suspects, try to get other people to weigh in on them, and then use that power on the suspect I dislike the most. I probably don't openly claim it unless absolutely necessary.

Before getting the power, at the start of the game, how do you act? You know there is some flavor out there that you 100% believe to be scum. And if that flavor dies, you get a power of some sort. How do you play that at the start of the game?

For him to make a play like this as scum would need a very very specific team setup, and even then it would be a high risk play he wouldn't want to partake in. And I'm pretty sure that I would need to be a partner for him and I'm not scum so

I also have eyebrows at Scare, too.

ben is perhaps the most devious scum player on the entire board. I mean that without reservations. He's really, really good and very, very sneaky. I put absolutely nothing past ben.

Ok so two more hypotheticals:

Say you are indy and you win as soon as you use mystery night ability x on a specific flavor (say an unblockable night kill). How do you play your role?

Or say you are scum and your team gets some sort of really cool boost as soon as you kill a specific town flavor. You have an extra unblockable kill on your team and being scum you want to make sure you use it night 1. How do you play your role?

Ok but by doing so you're ruined your role with no benefit to town.

Scum now knows the one condition in which you are not vanilla and can roleblock you accordingly. Ben was playing like someone who just wanted to find Bart and get Bart to out themselves as quickly as possible.

I kinda give him town points for that though? It has been many moons since I've played mafia with Corrik, but I do vaguely remember him doing that exact thing as town before. Not this scenario, mind you, but deducing someone is a doctor or something and then going "THIS GUY IS DOCTOR AND HERE IS WHY" even though that part didn't really need to be said outloud to the game.

This doesn't have to do with flavor, it has to do with logic.

If your claimed flavor related very strongly to what your role is, you should have a distinct aversion to getting people to claim their flavors. This is not flavor meta, this is internally consistent logic.

I don't think at any point either Ben or I were metaing flavor, or using it as the end point of our arguments. Ben was looking for a specific flavor based on his claimed role, and I was questioning his approach. These aren't flavor arguments.

Here's the thing:

If you are TOWN. And if you thought Bart was SCUM. Your plan there makes no sense.

Because why would scum Bart tell you he is Bart? "We can flavorfish to find Bart!" only works if the person has no reason to hide that they are Bart, and if the person has no reason to hide that they are Bart they would then be TOWN Bart, right?

AND

"Scum are going to have to lie about their role because I exist". No, they would have to lie regardless. If they are all Simpson family members, they aren't going to claim Simpson family members because they'll know the split. Plus getting them to claim flavor wouldn't do anything. If you thought the flavor split was "everything else" vs "Simpsons" then all Sbell has to do is find a Simpson. It doesn't matter if they are caught lying about a different flavor. It only matters if they turn up Simpsons.
