Roughly:
- Kylo Ren is losing credibility because he's obsessed with finding and turning Rey
- Other First Order leadership looking to stage a coup to usurp him
- Resistance find out and plan a strike to destabilize
- Finn as a frontline hero
- Poe stepping up as Leia's successor
- maybe finn/poe love story because why not
- Rose getting a subplot where she goes around the galaxy to recruit systems to the cause
- Rey turning Ben during their confrontation, them joining forces with the Resistance being the tipping point in the conflict
- good guys win
- ending scene is after Rey and Ben have made out/had sex or whatever and he leaves to travel the galaxy and atone

Setting up a TV series where Ben visits a new solar system every episode, learning first hand how the FO affected the people, doing his best to atone, while also teaching them basic Force stuff, laying the ground for a more grassroots Jedi paradigm rather than a monolithic dogmatic order

I've corrected myself and am now saying "sex appeal" instead of getting laid. Even people who are 99% positive they've found the person they want to spend the rest of their life with want to be perceived as attractive to the general public. If not, their partner still needs to be reminded that they got someone who is a snack, and will take time and effort to replace. If not, the person in question needs to retain a certain level of presentability so that his or her partner can feel proud to go in public with them. At least one of these things must needs be true for any self-aware person in a relationship.

As far as what clothing attributes to sex appeal, you start getting diminishing returns after spending a certain amount. In fact, I'll go as far as saying that the only reason to spend more than $80 on a pair of jeans is if you're hoping someone will ask you how much they cost someday.

Alright why don't you iterate on it some more so you can revise "sex appeal" to "look good" and conclude that people wear clothes because they wanna like the way they look.

The "pay more and you get better quality" only really holds up to a very base price point, to be honest. Sure, $50 jeans are likely to be of a higher durability to $20, but the returns continue to vastly diminish from there. It's not like $2000 jeans are made of adamantium. In fact they're probably far more fragile and the cost has gone into the designing, not the build quality.

There are a couple of stitching techniques which can take more time and some better materials that add cost, but generally it's not about that. I think for what you're doing cheap jeans is absolutely the way to go. No fucking way I would pay $200 for jeans I planned to do some concreting in.

Yeah generally this varies a lot with the types of clothing (obviously). Let's say you're buying an outdoors jacket meant for hiking etc. There you can expect higher price -> better durability/warranty etc. To a point, of course. A brand with a lot of prestige like Fjllrven will still be more expensive because you're paying for the brand/design and not just the durability.

People just really don't take a second to think about what "quality" actually means, because it very obviously means different things depending on the context. A suit or a pair of jeans of high quality aren't comparable to, say, hiking clothes of high quality, because the quality that you want in those items are different things. While I might want, IDK, a light fabric with certain visual qualities that breathes and stuff for a suit, for a hiking jacket I probably want something that isolates and doesn't tear. It's a very basic concept that you need to define quality before you start comparing things, but so many people just completely ignore that.

The thing I did wrong ITT was call TC an idiot. TC has been pretty friendly with me in the past, so for that impulsiveness, I am in fact the idiot.

The thing I did that I'm still not convinced is wrong, is assume sex appeal is a large portion of the decision making that goes into spending money on clothes, and that you can achieve that desired effect for like one-eighth of the price mentioned in the topic title.
