Are you ever going to acknowledge how the police caused this anger? What they need to do to change? You are one, shouldn't you be wondering why people hate you so much and what you can do it improve your relationship with the people?

Chauvin is responsible for the death of George Floyd. The people who burned the homeless man's possessions are responsible for burning the homeless man's possessions.

How much longer are you going to use the bad actions of the police to deny culpability of the looters/rioters who are choosing to attack other innocent people?

It's a small number of cops that are terrible people like Chauvin. 99% of cops are still good people. The odds are overwhelming that he'll be one of the good cops.

The reason why the actual protests haven't recieved much coverage is because of the riots. If there were no riots then the news wouldn't be covering riots, and it would be impossible for them (and the police and government) to ignore the peaceful demonstrations.

Chauvin was taken into custody. He's going to be tried for what he did, and it takes time. What else are people expecting?

Even though Chauvin may be morally undeserving of due process, taking due process away from even a terrible person is a threat to due process.

There's over 900k police officers in the U.S. As terrible as Chauvin is, there are also very few who do anything remotely similar to what he's done. You could make a comparison to school teachers.

It's no secret that there are some teachers who commit statutory rape against their students. It makes the news often enough that we've all heard the stories. And when it happens, the teachers is fired and charged. People don't hate all teachers because a small amount abuse their authority (and nor should they). So we shouldn't be doing the same to cops.

But discrimination is still bad either way. It's wrong to discriminate against a whole group just because there's a few people who happen to be a part of that group that do bad things. That's true whether you're talking about a race or religion, and it's true about cops. The bad cops need to be fired or thrown in jail when they abuse their power. The 99% of cops who are good shouldn't be hated.

As usual, the 2nd amendment folks are nowhere to be found when you actually need them.

The "2nd amendment folks" are not an exclusive group. If they want this to be an armed protest, then they can make it one. Any of these protestors who don't have felony convictions can arm themselves and make it into an armed demonstration. If the looting/destruction of private property and the increased spread of covid are going to be brushed off as irreleveant because the police murdered an innocent black man, then whatever previous hangups these protestors have about wielding firearms are also irrelevant too. If they want an armed demonstration, they're free to turn it into one. Maybe you can help them do this instead of complaining about the "2nd amendment folks" as if it's some secret club.

Nah, the medical report would have said he died from a heart attack which would leave enough room for doubt that the neck step is what caused his death instead of his own health, they would say the victim being unhealthy is what lead to his death rather than the officer's tactics giving enough reasonable doubt to not hold the officer accountable to the law, no matter what the public would feel.

That would only be a valid defense in cases where the officer actually needed to use force in the first place (i.e. wrestling an unruly suspect that actually is fighting back or trying to escape). Floyd was on the ground in cuffs and was not fighting back, so there was no reason to use that kind of force at all. That's not a defense that would have saved Chauvin in this particular case.

Yes. The video is crystal clear that that he used force which was not only unnecesary, but also extremely excessive in its duration. With or without the protests, it was only a matter of time before he was arrested and charge.

The protestors have no clear goals anymore. They started out with one, that the cop who killed Floyd needed to be taken in, and they accomplished it. Now they're just shouting vague platitudes which can neither be proven nor disproven.

Look at the total number of arrests that occur which never make the news. There were around 10 million arrests made in 2018 (according to statista). Almost all of them were uneventful and if they did make the news, it was nothing more than a few seconds on the local news. The small handful of arrests that where the police abuse their power and kill someone are just that, a small handful.

99+% of them are honorable and uphold our Constitution. Unfortunately there's a few vile pieces of garbage like Chauvin who abuse their power and kill people which also ends up eroding trust between police and civilians

I haven't had bad experiences the police. I did get one speeding ticket when I was actually speeding, but the cop wasn't an asshole or unprofessional in any way. A few times I've been stopped for minor things like a burnt out headlight, and was just told to get it fixed as soon as possible and sent on my way. I'm black, btw.
