Forty-five, see. I find that I rarely have anything to add to the topics on here anymore, nor do I have any more aspects about my life that I tend to express my worries about. I also have some projects to keep me busy and such, and video games to help me to relax better. Nowadays, the only thing I worry about now is how much longer I must be stuck in unemployment hell. I sort of gave up on finding a career I am passionate about, because to be honest, it's just so incredibly difficult for me to express genuine interest in anything, anymore. I feel like nothing I do really matters, anyway.

I most recently read these three books, in no particular order:

1. Calculus - Early Transcendentals by Guichard (lots of typos, but sufficient for calculus review)
2. Practical Web-Scraping for Data Science by Broucke and Baesens (for web-scraping project)
3. A Primer for Scientific Programming by Langtangen (for teaching myself basic [scientific] programming in Python)

From the job description, I gather that I will be:

(1) Doing data analysis and something to do with Medicaid "wrap-around payment submission"
(2) Generating graphs and reports from data for analysis, presentation, and interpretation
(3) Gathering data into spreadsheets for analysis
(4) Submit data error reports and fix databases as necessary

I didn't exactly look over the degree and experience requirements, though, which I now see would probably be an immediate disqualifer for my hastily sent application.

Specifically, in the case where I've been out of full-time work for over five months, would it hurt or help to put down that I've been tutoring for two months?

Note: This is for a job in an office setting, see.

I'm worried the employer will assume that I've just been doing nothing these past five months, and was wondering if I should correct that impression. Should I? It would save the trouble of correcting the lot over the phone, over e-mail, or in-person. On the other hand, though, the company might look at it and see that I've occupied my resume with stuff that only wastes space for more important things I could have added instead of that job experience.

I must have these answers.

Perhaps the lack of specification as to what aspect of the female gender TC is talking about constitutes part, if not all, of the joke meant to be communicated via this topic. Not to mention that this is a common phrase used by men whenever they feel that they have been wronged by a member of the gender that is being discussed here with a deliberate vagueness. This, in itself, could just constitute the whole joke.

not having a part time job

Just to be clear, I complained about not having a second part-time job because I felt inferior to my classmates, most of which either had full class schedules, worked either two part-time jobs, or worked one full-time job. I felt, mostly, that I did not work as hard as they did, and chastised myself for having a weaker work ethic than them. In hindsight, it would have been silly if that were the sole reason I had sought out a second part-time job. Not being a full-time student during academia still bothers me, though.

I am currently self-employed, but I did not feel like entering social contact with anybody online, today, to tutor anybody. Nor did I feel like reviewing my calculus, or working on refining my programming prowess; I did not even feel like doing any fiction-writing. I feel like the only thing I did today was watch this movie with the janitor and the therapist, and lie in bed, thinking about how nothing I do ultimately serves any purpose or has any meaning at all. I'm planning on relocating in five months, but once or twice, thought of pulling the date back a few months, because I cannot stand all this stagnancy and such. Then I worry about explaining to a potential employer what I've been doing these past few months, and about how I will not be able to give a good answer during an interview, and such. Anyway, how do you deal with having unproductive days during which you have accomplished little, if nothing at all?

I must have these answers.

this is essentially like asking the owner what parts of the site you can scrape

this one means anybody can scrape any part of the website, other than the wp-admin directory. although for some reason it does allow scraping some random php file in that directory.

I am grateful, also, for telling me about the robots.txt page, and explaining what this one in particular meant, in regards to scraping the site.

the owner's permission? Of the first two sites I thought of trying on my own, the first returned a bunch of HTML and the second returned a 403 status code, which I learned roughly means that they received my request to query their site by that means, and that they do not authorize it. I am very new to the programming scene, and I initially got a book to learn about this because I thought it would be neat to have a mechanism to instantly fetch Fire Emblem data for instant look-up without entering stuff into the Mozilla Firefox internet browser in order to do so. I am aware that there I imagine that a lot of sites just deter web-scraping through certain counter-measures, followed by an error message explicitly stating that such measures are unsolicited, such as the second site I had attempted this on. I do imagine that if I were to web-scrape a site legally, I would need to ask the owner's permission first. But I am much too afraid of the repercussions that could be quite troublesome for me if I had chosen to go ahead without his or her expressly written say-so. I know that asking for permission before doing something with someone else's creation is common manners, but at the same time, I am far too afraid of the response I would get should I request permission to--for the lack of a better word--"violate" his or her web-site. What if the bloke feels threatened by me, IP-blocks me or something, and bars access completely? What if he feels the need to bring it into court? These possibilities scare me far too much for me to seriously consider continuing the data-gathering project I want to work on. At the same time, I feel that the consequenes would be less dire, and could possibly be non-existent if I had just screwed up the courage to ask the owner of say, FE Wiki (the good one) or Serenes Forest, if it is alright to scrape their databases. Anyway, if I scraped some bloke's website without his permission, is there a tiny possibility that he would summon legal authorities to investigate the matter, or am I simply being far too paranoid for my own good? I was already afraid of making this topic because I had feared that the mods--they would see this topic and cite it as a valid reason to terminate my account and possibly discontinue my further usage of the site. Anyway, what would be the worst-case scenario if I chose to query some website without permission, received a 403 message, and got the hint to cease my actions at once? What would be the worst-case scenario if I queried some website without that security measure, without their knowing, and accessed their site through that means?

I must have these answers.

Note: Sorry to those who were already typing a response, for deleting and re-making this topic; I was too paranoid of it being deleted by some moderator reading it.

Either the person used a prescript e-mail with those infamous spelling errors, or the person was thinking of the pronunciation of "generation" (or some other word containing the string "gen" that is pronounced the same way, as the other posters have indicated) while typing up that e-mail, and subconsciously attributed the first syllable of that word to your name, despite possibly knowing that your name is indeed spelt with a "J" and not a "G". This is merely conjecture, of course, as I have no idea of what your e-mail pen pal is like.
