Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb announced on Wednesday afternoon that he tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

Lamb posted on the Pinal County Sheriff Office's Facebook page that he had been invited on Tuesday to join President Donald Trump at the White House and was tested before the meeting as part of the protocol.

"Unfortunately, as a law enforcement official and elected leader, we do not have the luxury of staying home," Lamb wrote. "This line of work is inherently dangerous, and that is a risk we take when we sign up for the job. Today, that risk is the COVID-19 virus."

Lamb said he believes he came into contact with an infected person during a campaign event he held on Saturday. Lamb didn't say if he wore a mask or practiced social distancing at the event.

A State Senator is requesting this to go to a grand jury. Not all evidence was reviewed. He also asked for people to send in more evidence.

Guys, I live in Omaha, NE and have for almost 30 years. He is NOT out on bail. He is still in policy custody and will probably be held without bail. James was murdered around 11PM CST on Saturday. I was watching a FB Live of Omaha Scanner and following along on their Twitter when it happened. Earlier today, Sunday, there was a peaceful protest near the murder scene and all ages and races were there. Nobody, outside of the extremists, wanted to see this happen. It happened OUTSIDE of the murderer's bar. It didn't even happen inside. There's no claim of self-defense. Nobody is coming to his defense. He refused to comply with city requests for business owners to stay home because ANY DAMAGE would be covered.

It is heartbreaking. Beyond heartbreaking. However, I want to make sure everybody has some key facts:

1.) He was arrested almost immediately
2.) He is still in police custody
3.) He murdered James outside
4.) Nobody is standing by him
5.) The city of Omaha is mourning James and came together earlier Sunday afternoon
