Conan is absolutely my favorite, and was the funniest host at the time by far. Leno was always a bit of a snore. But.

He could have done plenty while working at NBC and kept the clout and money and legacy.

No doubts he'd be happier if he stayed at NBC.

On top of that I recall him making a comment about how his biggest concerns at the time was making sure his crew was secure with the move and their paychecks etc. I don't see the change being to his advantage, nor his crew's.

I blame all 3 parties.

Honestly, I have to say all 3 parties made mistakes. (Leno, Conan, NBC)

I also don't believe for a second Conan is happier where he is now.

I used to listen to Coast to Coast AM a ton in college and grad school. I'm a night person by default and college let me keep weird hours. This period of time is like 2003 through 2010 or so. People on that show talked about how electric lines and cellphone towers caused cancer and basically every disease you can imagine. Same show taught me about vaxxers back in 2004.

I listened because of how absurd it was but sometimes enjoyed the creepy ghost or alien stories. Never believed them, but it was interesting to learn about weird beliefs.

I stopped listening a decade ago because the hackery that was once relegated to late night weirdos started bleeding into the mainstream. Horrifying really.

And to your points - people DID talk about this sort of thing in 3g. It was just relegated to kooks and crazies, unlike now. Social media makes spreading lies and extremist and poorly thought out opinions so easy. Mix in dummy accounts and you've got a dumpster fire of epic proprotion loose in society.

Like, I remember somebody showing me Alex Jones in 2003. He was on a shoutcast Winamp channel. If you would have told me then the influence he has now, I would have called you insane.


A big problem is just taking the word of literal crazy people for honest correct statements.

All it takes is 1 liar who makes up an event because "We all know this really happens anyways", or the money hungry authors who make up stories to sell their books.

Conspiracy theorists always say "Follow the money!"

Guess who makes money from this? Coast to Coast radio show owners/etc and other conspiracy theorist authors make money from making things up.
