Pretty much. Not to mention that 'X' & 'Z' are popular for denoting something as being edgy. The Zero series essentially takes it even darker & edgier than the X series, & it's easily the best chapter of the classic timeline. ZX kinda brings down a bit from there, but that secret ending in Advent suggests things would have gotten edgier if it continued.

You know, those things that play between late night & early morning when networks basically end their actual programming? I've caught more than a few since COVID has left me with a lot of time, & I seriously question who these things are actually marketed to. Just saw one about American Super Foods, & Emeril's air fryer seems to be quite popular. I've even seen some for the Ronco Showtime, & it's the same one I remember seeing early mornings when waiting for networks to start their Saturday morning cartoon blocks; that thing has been running for about +20 years now.

They're paying money for these slots, so I can only assume they're working, but to whom?

I'd take the 4k daily, simply because it's infinite money. With the notion of failure functionally eliminated, there's no downside to be simply investing at a "shotgun" rate. A few of them are bound to pay off, & from there, it shouldn't be impossible to establish a millionaire's portfolio & have the magic infinite money at the same time.

Painful reality is that most people vote with their feelings over logic. It's why being "relatable" & "someone you could have a beer with" are such notable qualities in a candidate. America's political parties are heavily built on pathos. Republicans sell themselves on nationalism & individual success, which is why xenophobes, racists, & the wealthy tend to identify with it. Democrats are about inclusiveness & civil rights, which makes them mostly appealing to minorities, immigrants, & progressives.

Combined with the fact America's system requires coordinated efforts to get anything done, & it's what's led to the team sport, red vs blue partisanship that we have now.

Everyone always complains about adventurers with friendship mechanics causing the game to slow down, but I can't fathom why a mobile game has such ridiculously high requirements. Even the file size is becoming absurd, at a current +6GB.

Gonna be honest, I tried to play a lot of those dating sim games seriously. Unfortunately, it was usually easier to just get strong enough to oneshot the girls in a fight & buy them stuff.

Early 2000's internet was such a weird time, though. You had all manner of cute & child friendly series full of gore, sex, drugs, & it was all taken relatively serious in universe.

Yeah, as someone with family in Alabama, I can confidently tell you that the health system is basically non existent outside the major cities. If you get shot or have a heart attack in Selma, they have to wheel you all the way to Birmingham for UAB.

Long story short, mutants are just normal people who suddenly have powers. Most metas in the Marvel-verse tend to be people of high status such as Reed Richards & (technically) Tony Stark. Normal mutants are just average people who suddenly woke up with powers one day. The fact a lot of mutants start as confused teens with volatile powers that have no grasp on what's happening to them means they probably create a lot of collateral damage. Then you've got Magneto with his Brotherhood & the Homo Superior stuff, it's easy to see why people would focus on mutants.

Eh, I love Azumanga enough that I actually own an anthology print of the manga, but I must say it's up there with Lucky Star as a product of its time. If you can't get into the right mindset for it, I'd recommend just going to Nichijou.

I wish I could remember which one it was, but there's a TED talk that covers it, & it basically comes down to when apologizing, "then you look weak & ****". The worst part is that I can't even fully disagree with that evaluation. An apology is seen as an admission of guilt, which is why a company either doesn't apologize at all or not exactly admit what they're apologizing for.

I ultimately have to agree. Lies may come back to bite you, but it usually takes time. By the point the past can affect you, it may not matter anymore. The most benefit to honesty is that you don't have to worry about anything coming back at a bad moment.

Working for McDonald's is completely unacceptable in the context of just so another company can afford to NOT pay you.

What SHOULD have been, is that it should have been possible for you to enter a position of on the job training, where a company bears the cost of imbuing their workforce with the skills necessary to perform the desired tasks, instead of deferring the responsibility to someone else.

What was unpleasant was working at McDonald's. I don't see how I could have moved beyond that without unpaid internships, which is why I'm defending the practice. You just don't want to actually listen or engage with what I'm saying because you're convinced you're right regardless.

So you're saying you wouldn't have appreciated not wasting your time on a dead end job like McDonald's? Which is what I was referring to when I mentioned "unpleasant". If your work weren't unpaid, McDonald's most likely would have been unnecessary.

I don't know about him, but without that experience, I certainly wouldn't be where I am now, and I definitely wouldn't have been competitive for a paid position.

That's no excuse for holding up a broken & backwards system, just because some people can still overcome it. From the descriptions in this thread, even those who have benefited admit that the experience was unpleasant & a struggle, so why would you want to subject others to it, if there's an option to try making something better?

If you seriously believe the work might not have been useful, then that brings to question: what was even the point of it, then?

Even worse, if you apparently just took up time, while still apparently costing them money. It would far more practical to just focus the "cost" of an unpaid intern towards an actual training program.

• Unless someone else footed the bill or covered your life expenses, the ability to work without compensation inherently places you to a degree of affluence.
• If you didn't even develop any skills, it means your internship wasn't even of any real value, which makes using it as any metric mostly worthless, if the only real value was being able to say you know people.
• The rich get richer, that's just how life works when you get down to it.

In practice, unpaid internships are typically just an excuse to get unpaid labor. The only people who truly benefit from them are those affluent enough that an internship probably wasn't necessary to begin with.

Oh, I remember reading about that before. It makes sense in context, given it involves pouring the Deku Tree's sacred water on a corrupted plant. You're basically hitting with a liquid light arrow. I'm surprised anyone bothered to code for that or that anyone bothered to attempt it, given the water spoils in 30 minutes real time, & reentering the area with the water isn't exactly the most convenient feat.

I want to oppose this, but I just can't fully. Besides glossing over the high probability that China almost certainly cut some details, it's overall accurate. The protests of lock downs, businesses trying to skirt restrictions, & the belief that it'll just magically end in April, which is why we're opening again in May, despite it being quite obvious we really shouldn't.
