yes. there's a food lion down the block and an aldi/lidl within about the same distance as the walmart, but they're stock is limited as hell compared to walmart. also have a harris teeter but their prices are about 3X everyone elses.

When i reapplied the new paste i made sure to spread it evenly but not to where it could spill over.

this is fine, really the whole 'debate' over how the paste is applied is overblown. hell, as long as it isn't a conductive paste (something with gallium in it) you can even let it spill over onto the motherboard. it wont look nice and it'll potentially cause a bit of a heating issue but its not going to break anything.

I got the CPU fan off. Was pretty easy, yeah. Heres a pic. Theres definitely still some paste on it. Would you say it (the paste) needs replaced? Also, should I touch it to see if its gotten actually hot?

if you've removed the cooler you need to replace the paste. there's no point to test how hot the thing is, if you've got the pc on with the cooler off it'll overheat and shut down within like a minute.

get some rubbing alcohol, closest to 100% you can find in a drug store, and wipe the old paste off. if it was bad you'll notice the paste is hard and flaky. then you take your new paste and put about a pea sized glob in the center. put the cooler on, give it a bit of a wiggle to distribute the paste then screw it back in place.

It's pretty easy. You can find videos on youtube teaching you how. It's more or less like spreading jelly on toast, only easier since the paste isn't very dense. Last time I did it, Arctic Silver was the paste of choice, but that's been a while so it might be something else these days.

just dont yank the CPU cooler off. depending on the CPU you might actually pull it out of the socket... remove the mounting screws, then wiggle/twist to loosen the cooler before pulling off.

I think the whole "herd immunity" theory is weird in the first place.

We heard "It's just a cold" and "It's just the flu" from those types for the longest time. I'm pretty sure everyone has gotten colds and the flu multiple times in their lives, so I'm not sure why one would think you would have immunity to COVID-19 after getting it once if it was "just a cold" or "just the flu."

one of the main reasons it irks me is because 'herd immunity' for cold and flu came from hundreds/thousands of years of exposure to multiple iterations of the viruses, to the point we actually acquire some of that immunity from our parents. the term gets thrown around by dumbasses who dont actually understand what it means and how fucking long it would take to actually develop any form of it for a virus that mutates as fast as covid.

a good comparison is what happened to native americans when they were first exposed to smallpox.
