You can use Gyarados as a rain dance sweeper, as STAB water moves coming from gyarados hits like a truck. Don't throw in any defensive pokemon for the sake of it. Lets see, Ludicolo is weak against Flying, Poison and Bug, Steelix seems like a pretty solid pick but I'm sure you can find a better steel type which is competitively viable.
