And the few young people that do die from it? Well it sucks but considering just them we are back to the "is it really that much worse than other seasonal diseases?" argument. Harder to say it is when the old people are factored out since they should be rightfully isolating themselves

Problem is that people with diabetis/high blood pressure/immune deficiencies/asthma etc etc are all at high risk as well whatever the age. Also the initial numbers we got from China were off about young people, and while you have a good chance of living, that is only true IF you can get medical attention and 25% of the people who need medical attention are young. That is still a very large number of people if everyone ends up getttng it.

Still think waves of the young are the best solution. you have less than a 1% chance of dying if a ventilator and hospital bed is available if your under 40. The solution is to isolate all people over 50 AND any with underlying medical conditions, then slowly "release" the young out, about 20% at a time (every 2 weeks) and be done with the young in about a month. By the end of April most of the US would be out and back to work.

It's the only solution that I see working to be honest. The idea of everyone just staying home for months and months just isn't going to work. I'm high risk and will almost certainly die if I get it, but I can't picture staying in here for 6 more months. It's worth the risk just to have some kinda life. I wouldn't choose to go to jail over dying, and I won't choose to self isolate for long periods of time over it either. Gotta have a reason to live man, it's not enough just to survive.

I have heard alot of gym memberships are not allowing people to cancel even though they are not open (and not even letting you call them).

I told my friend to block it on his card so he doesn't get charged.

Wishful thinking is may, but even the idea of staying in here all of april is horrific to me.
The problem I see is that it looks like things are just getting started (and in many places hasn't even started yet) in the US.

Because of this we have not even really started the countdown for this to end, because it hasn't finished starting yet:(

Maybe i'm wrong and it'll just fade away, and not hit most of the US eventually, but that has not been the case we have seen elsewhere, and I highly doubt it will be here. It also will probably eventually hit India like a storm and there is still going to be fallout from China I imagine (since they produce so much stuff).

I would imagine the "best case" is probably june or july at the absolute earliest, where we at least start trying to get back to normal with no SAH orders etc. I can't immgine those will be lifted in April (trump is crazy) and it's very unlikely to happen in May either.

I don't know what the world will be like when we emerge tbh if that is the case, (or what I will be like lol).

September though seems so far away, no way I can make it that long like this, so if that is the case, I'm gonna go out, make friends or something, somewhere I can go visit and hang out with others etc. I can't stay here in my basement for 6+ months, not gonna happen. I'd rather die of the virus.

Lol, it's happened to me before. I actually have a beard trimmer which I used to shave and cut my hair (it can be adjusted to only barely trim my hair..so i'm not bald or anything).

Felt much better afterwards, but I also conditioned my hair (I wash it with shampoo fairly often, but only condition rarely). I think that has alot to do with me feeling more upbeat today actually.

Wow, yeah, zoom might help with people who have birthdays soon, if you guys have not tried it yet. I've been playing DnD with friends through zoom, and it's very much like actually hanging out with them in real life:)

I REALLY hope we can go out by April 24th though, that is like a month away. I shaved and cut my own hair yesterday to feel more....normal I guess, I was turning into a grisly adams type guy. In another month though, I mean....I may revert to caveman times or something.

Did my 2-week shopping run this morning at a local grocery store to support their business. They have changed their hours to open later, which kinda stinks because more people are ready to shop at 10am vs. 7am.

I started working from home on March 12. Things haven't slowed down with my job and I'm very thankful to be working where I am right now. I'm glad I live alone with my cat and not with roommates. I don't mind being home alone every day; there's feeling alone and there's feeling lonely.

My city and state are adhering to the SIP order pretty well, all things considered. It's currently set to go until April 7, but I can definitely see it going longer.

On a super selfish note: my birthday is on April 19 and I've never spent a birthday alone. I really hope I don't have to.

If you do your gamefaqs friend will celebrate it with you!!!:) Maybe we can have a movie watching birthday party or something!!:)

Worst thing is she was going to get another, albeit temp, job. But due to working with talc in a place with lax safety she developed a cough she's had for years. Welp, can't work with a cough in these times... Which I get don't get me wrong. Just upset at how bad her work f'ed her.

Lying about hiring on for years, gave her this cough, and dropped her. Just... Yeah...

Ugh, that realy sucks, hopefully once the bills extensions etc go in, she can get it. They are opening unemployment up for contractors, temp workers etc, alot of people who didn't qualify before, will qualify now (or at least that is what the bill says will happen). Might be worth applying again once it has time to go into effect.

There are a lot of calls to waive rent the same as mortgage payments are being deferred

I get what your saying, but while rent can be a source of income, it is usually mitigated by a mortgage and taxes, and for those that it isn't mitigated by them, they probably are not hurting much if they lose out on a few months of rent.

Well it's mitigated by taxes for just about everyone.

So if you freeze mortgage payments and tax payments, you should also freeze rent payments and honestly this should 100% be done, and should have before this (in the US) relief package deal was struck. Would have saved a ton of money.

In fact, if you look at it this way, probably 90% of the $1200 is going to go to home owners/renters at this point, or basically the wealthy in the US. Freezing rent would help small businesses more than any relief package etc as well (it's their biggest overhead).

Also this is going to cause some crazy things to go down as alot of people ARE refusing to pay rent anyway and can't be evicted now, but its' going to mean a ton of landlords are going to want to evict tenants after this is over.....that is going to be absolute chaos.

Seems like most everyone on this board is going to pay rent if they have it, but yeah, there are alot who are not going to be, by choice, or who can't currently (at least till they get the $1200). There are also alot of people renting rooms who work under the table etc, so won't get that $1200...but also can't work lol.....so that is going to be really bad for them in the long run.

The numbers in the US are just getting worse every day, we have over 2000 deaths already and we are literally just getting started, large parts of this country still have no cases at all, but the cats out of the bag, so they will eventually (pretty much impossible to put that genie back in the bottle at this point).

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not posting numbers anymore because it's too freaking depressing. Especially as it's looking like this is going to be a problem for along time, which means people like me, either have to live in complete isolation, or have a high risk of dying.

We're paid up a bit advance afaik, before all this happened.

I don't know what's going to happen when that is no longer the case, since one of our two bill payers was laid off due to corona virus related issues....

Make sure everyone has a direct deposit account on file for the IRS and the $1200 should help on April 6th.

Also have the person laid off file for unemployment asap, since it takes some time to get (I've helped others apply in the past) and this bill adds $600 to the weekly amount (which is probably more than many people were making and way more than you need to pay rent anywhere).

That should help at least for the short term, and if your conservative and don't blow the rest, even when the unemployment runs out (which I think it's also being extended past the norm...of 20? weeks), you could have enough saved to double the time while looking for new employment.

$600 a week in addition to base seems like so much to me lol.

Quarantine is not a huge change for me, aside from killing date night.

The layoff of my sister due to virus related shutdowns, however... Let's just say this isn't the greatest time for that.

Spouse works in nursing at a nursing home, so nothing has really changed on that front. They've picked up a couple extra shifts, but that's about it.

At least in theory, unemployment may hopefully cover most of the loss from your sisters job (depends on the state as well). Hopefully she can get it back when this is over.

Ugh, I don't pray, but I wish the best of luck for your spouse, there have been some bad reports of entire nursing homes coming down with the virus...which would be absolutely heart breaking I'm sure (also kudos to your spouse for working there and hopefully making their lives a bit better).

Unless the government is waiving taxes on those landlords, people should be paying rent.

I 100% agree my man.

I do think the gov SHOULD wave them AND force the banks to wave all mortgage payments during this time as well, but I think you don't believe in the gov exercising so much power (which I can understand).

I just think it would prevent us having to spend so much money, increase the deficit etc, and help the small businesses (and large ones). Honestly preventing evictions without given ANY protection to home owners is a horrible idea, but oh well.

Hot shower, take ibuprophen first if you have some (hopefully 800 mgs), then a warm compress/towel on your neck afterwards, should help a ton.

I used to have ryse neck (think thats the name) so bad it would make my neck crooked (slanted to the side) but luckily that stopped by my 30's or so...but it used to really suck. Hot tub can work as well, but a hot shower can usually pound right on that spot with hot water (so tte pressure is good as well), and that can help quickly.

I feel bad for people confined to small apartments, especially if they have kids that need entertainment and need to run around. Stay strong folks.

I always loved kids (Was a teacher) and unlike most that would probably make this WAY easier if there were kids to watch etc (for me that is). I even thought of volunteering to watch kids of parents that are still working since school is out but there were two issues.

  1. I'm getting over pnuemonia and still coughing which would be scary for anyone.
  2. I'm high risk and having contact with people still working/going out could easily be a death sentance for me.

So sadly, it's just me, and I just rent a basement, so yeah, I don't even get to see the sun etc unless I go upstairs and outside for a walk or something. I try to go up at least once a day (was bbqing etc mainly.

I really miss my old house which was very large with a great view of pugent sound, right by the water (could have walked along it) etc. I'm retired now though so I am cutting costs and only paying $575 a month for this setup (Which is a good deal), it just doesn't feel like as good a deal when your stuck down here for weeks lol.

I understand the DNR if someone is in a situation where there is no hope but for people who have a chance to survive their illness, lack of being unable to pay should not determine whether one lives or not especially when we have health insurance.

The sole purpose of insurance of any kind is to have piece of mind and the purpose of health insurance is to pay for medical care we can't afford as individuals.

Sadly I have gone down that road with my wife, most health insurance has a cap of 1 million dollars and if your in ICU any length of time (my wife was for like 3 weeks at Saint Luis in Gilroy CA) you eat through that in no time. Once you hit the cap, the dump you like a hot coal and then you have to go through all your assets/savings etc (which happens really fast trust me) before you can get on state medical.

For me though it's more than that, I still try to help people and make at least a small positive difference in the world, but I have no dependants or responsibilities left, and no incentive to go through a long period of recovery etc, nor do I have any wish to be a burden on society.

A full DNR is actually alot more then just not recessitating, it means all they are allowed to do is help releave pain and suffering, but nothing that would keep you alive or prevent you from dying. You can choose the degree when you fill one out, up to what I did which basically means they can't do anything.

My wife passed because she couldn't get into a local hospital due to it being full from flu patients (they even had a satellite center set up), she couldn't get Dialysis and they had to transfer her to another state (good samaritan hospital in portland oregon) so she could (but it took a week to get that set up. By that time she had an infection in her heart which killed her.

I'm not taking up resources so someone younger, with a family etc ends up dying because of me. I'm not in a rush to die, but I'm ready when it happens and don't need people to prevent it.

Lol:)

Seriously though, and honestly never thought I would have this convo, but how do some people use SO much toilet paper (I'll admit it's usually girls, and I get that they wipe for 1 as well).

But I mean, I have had male roomates that go through a roll in a week as well (At least, some more).

Meanwhile, and this is probably more info they you ever wanted, I use scotts, because it's very strong/firm and doesn't rip, and I use 3 sheets per wipe, and usually wipe about 3-4 times (why am I being so descriptive?) and I look at the 3rd wipe......to see if I need a 4th.

Way more then I ever wanted to share, but I'm curious, how people use so much. Using that method, one roll lasts me at least 2 weeks, sometimes 3 or 4 (I do tend to only go 2 once a day, rarely twice, unless I eat something really greasy or bad).

A 12 pack of Scotts is likely to last me over a year (as long as I'm not sharing the bathroom with just about ANYONE cause everyone uses more than me.

I wash my hands afterwards mind you, but I have never gotten anything on my hands, nor not felt clean afterwards etc.

So I do not get how people use so much, nor why they are hoarding (well I mean I understand the hoarding for some, my best friends wife in Gilroy would go throuuh multiple rolls A DAY!!!!). If you live with someone like that, you probably gotta hoard just for a freaking week lols.

It's been over two weeks for me without any person to person interaction, or going out other than to shop. It was getting to me,
but yesterday was a good day over all. Had a nice many hour zoom session of Rick and Morty DnD with friends and that helped
AND I got to talk to an uncle I have not been in contact with much for a few hours as well!!!!

I grabbed on of those nice chuck roasts out of the freezer yesterday to defrost for today as well, so yummy meal coming up later!!
Best of all, I finally fixed my horrible sleep schedule, waking up at 8 am (and crashing about midnight last night!!).

Woke up whistling (or my approximation of it) and almost dancing today, so maybe I have turned a corner and am becoming used
to isolation. I have not named any of my objects Wilson yet, nor am I talking to myself, so I think I'm still mostly sane.

How many days have you all been in isolation so far, and is it getting to you at all? Have you pushed through some kinda barrier
and come out the other side more positive? Do you have any plans if this goes on for more than another week or two?

Lol, hey I just couldn't think of anything guys wear (besides suits) that women double take over.

But there were some damn good ideas in here, though I did laugh at money the most lol.

I wore wolf ears for my wife and she did like me to nibble on her neck when I wore them.

Vampire fangs was genius lol (though I never wore them myself).

I can say for me at least, it's not the fact a girl may be freaky (honestly that ...for most of my life, was a turn off to me if too obvious), just that it makes em cute, and maybe shows they have a sense of fun etc.

Also damn at the already having a GF or being married being so true, I have never gotten that at all. My wife was bed bound at home and I was taking care of her while teaching, and everyone knew it, and seriously I never had so many women hit on me in my whole life (and I was certainly not in my best shape at that time, had just gotten off being at home with her 24/7 for 3 years!!! I really don't get that, and if anything guys are indiferent about it in a woman, it's certainly not a turn on (for most) if she is attached/in a relationship etc (and for me and many it's a automatic no/turn off).

But is there anything guys can wear that do it for girls in general? A suit? I am pretty sure it's not just me on the

But Anne Kendrick all the way for Jenie, she would rock that roll.

Edit: I think I have the male lead (although he could play a best friend or something), but dude has worked hard and deserves a reward and he knows how to be in a comedy (As does Anne). Mind you this would be a very sexy comedy *hehe*.

So yeah, if this every happens, dude owes me big, but I'm gonna say Jonah Hill as the male lead who is Jenie's Master. I'm pretty sure he could pull it off.

Also I loved to cook, have always taken care of people, and I don't particularly like hitting on someone, I want them to want me basically (girls in my case...which isn't very common since it's the guys job to want the girl in this world mainly).

I'm happy with my body over all, but yeah, being a chick with my personality (I like to have fun, I am friendly with everyone etc) would have just been easier/more natural.

I have no kids, if I had, it would have helped ALOT after loosing my wife. Just try to stay in his and support him and hopefully he will get through it. I basically pulled away from all my friends and most of my family, don't let him do that if you can prevent it.

You only need 2.

First wish: Complete freedom in your actions, you can never be chained or controlled in the future.

Second wish: To become an all powerful Genie.

Done:)

I worked in the Bay Area in landlord Tenant and yeah again, you can't start the eviction process until after giving notice, so you should be good as long as you giie notice now for next month (they could in theory sttll give 30 days notice for next month and then start the eviction process when the hold was removed.

It's complicated but I'm about to play DnD on zoom so can't go into it right now.

This isnt true. Simply because they wouldnt have one right now doesnt mean it wont happen in a few months...

Sadly it is true, I worked in Landlord Tenant law for years.

The process goes like this.

First the landlord has to give an official 30 day notice (it varies state by state, sometimes it's a 20 day notice, but needs to be given by the 10th of the month etc).

This notice informs the tenant that they must move out by the end of the month.

IF the tenant moves out by that time, no eviction is given, and everything moves forward as normal. If the tenant didn't pay rent (which is the cause of the notice) then the tenant probably won't want to use that landlord as a reference in the future, but nothing shows up on their record.

IF the tenant refuses to leave, they can get an eviction notice after the 20-30 day period is over, and the landlord can even try and have them evicted in 3 days (if they have not paid rent etc. Thing is the Tenant has the right to be heard in court and argue why he didn't pay etc (IE there were repairs that needed to be made and the tenant refused to pay rent again till they were made etc). Even if there is an at will contract saying the landlord can evict the tenant after 30 days, the tenant still gets the right to be heard ii court.

Now that is where things can get tricky as some courts are VERY busy and sometimes you have to actually wait weeks or months to be seen. In general up until you actually go to court, the tenant can leave on his or her own violation and there STILL won't be an eviction.

This again varies state to state, but in some tenants can literally stay rent free for 3-4 months before leaving, without getting an eviction on their record.

In this case, you could stay for however long the freeze is for, then the current landlord would have to give you a 20-30 day notice and you would have 1 more month before the eviction process could even start.

So lets say the freeze lasts through may, a landlord would only be able to give a 30 day notice at the start of June, and the tenant wouldn't have to leave until the start of July right now (and could still stay longer possibly without a eviction especially since the courts are likely to be REALLY busy at that point).

So yeah, it can REALLY hurt landlords with mortgages right now.

Onll 92k cases confirmed in Itally and over 10k deaths.

We can hope we don't get those numbers here in the US, but honestly it's India that I think is going to get hit really hard.
Most places are more organized, less packed etc, I'm afraid it won't just be 10-11% of the people who get it (and most of the 1.2 billion in India probably will), but because of the chaos and disorganization etc, I'm afraid there will be more deaths from people harming each other, starvation, lack of resources etc.

Here in the US, I at least hope that once the threat becomes serious (god I can't believe our current administration is still thinking this will be over soon), we will focus on reducing how many people get it at once and getting more beds/ventalators etc for those who do get it.

Italy has...well mostly done everything right, that we should be doing, and is still getting hit seriously hard, what future does that leave for us?

Of course I am. Its my number 1 priority. I dont want to be evicted once this is over. Its only a half on evictions. It doesnt stop people from owing the money...

Exactly, but since you can't start the eviction process right now (or even file a 20 or 30 day notice) people are taking advaatage of that fact, they wouldn't even get an eviction on their record, since the notice can't be given till the halt on them ends.

This could mean months of no rent for home owners that rent their properties, and yes, you would imagine nobody would do that, but for now, some don't even have a choice, and others are just taking advantage of it as "free" rent for a few months.

It's really sad thouuh.

There is a new thing on facebook etc, where people are standing with companies like the Cheesecake factory, and people who are not paying rent. This seems to be spreading and I'm curious if anyone on here is going to not pay rent as well?

I'm paying rent of course, but my rent (since I just rent a basement) is only $575. I realize there are people paying 3x that just for a 1 bedroom in some places and with no work, even the $1200 won't help enough.

So are you paying rent? There are no evictions right now, and I feel like some people are taking advantage of that fact to just skip out on paying rent. Currently home owners do not have anything waving mortgage payments or taxes, so they are still relying on rent to keep up the payments.

I do believe there is a halt on foreclosures as well, but, unless they make it permanent for missed payments during this time, a homeowner who doesn't pay mortgage payments would just be forclosed on after this is over, even if they started making payments again.

I think that is seriously wrong, and this could lead to many people losing their homes (and yet another way for the banks to make a profit) because people won't or can't pay rent to home owners, and therefore, they are unable to make mortgage payments etc.

I feel bad for everyone in this situation, I really think there should have been a direct FREEZE on ALL rental payments, mortgage payments, and property taxes until this is resolved and people can go back to work.

I'll start:

The witcher
Ragnarok
Hanna
The Boys
Stranger Things
The Order
Lucifer

Also I want them to either A: Let netflix continue Daredevil, or buy the rights from them and add it to Disney +, I don't care about the other shows, I even got bored of the last season of Jessica Jones, but I miss Daredevil.

I talked to my uncle in LA and he is down for both of us getting together and going backpacking/mountain climbing like in the past. If this goes on too much longer, I'm gonna load my car up with food (canned) and head to LA to meet up with him then we will head to the Sierra Nevada mountains and go hiking/backpacking up them for a few weeks at least.

I refuse to stay in this basement for months. I will go insane(r).

I mean everyone would be saying "Thanks Obama" at this point that is for sure lol.

He was president for 2 terms so he couldn't be again but.....if ANY demo had been in office and worked on fixing Obamacare instead of replacing it, it would probably have been better.

That isn't saying Demo's are better or that the affordable care act was great etc, I'm just saying improving an existing system would have been better than being inbetween them like we are now.

Maybe there was no way for it to be fixed, but I think it would still have been better that what we have now.
