If your state allows a rating factor to be used, such as gender, then the underwriters factor it in based solely on what story the statistics tell. If men get into more accidents or costlier accidents, then they'll charge additional premium. I have access to the underwriting manual we use which is a 278 page manual filled almost entirely with charts that allow you to identify what each rating factor is based on a huge number of variables.
