For some people online classes work fine, but I think they're less effective for most students (particularly if you don't have great self-discipline). That said, in person classes would not be safe in most of the US, and I would not feel safe teaching in person.

To expand on my previous post: if the deaths being recorded as covid deaths are of all deaths of people who are confirmed covid positive, then *at most* you've overcounted covid deaths by a factor of 1+P(death given covid in time t)/P(death given no covid in time t). Since a person's chances of dying with covid are much higher than their chances of dying without covid in a short span of time (a few months here), that factor will not be much higher than 1. Do there exist some number of recorded covid deaths that were actually caused by something else, unexacerbated by covid? Most likely yes, but I would be shocked if they outnumbered actual covid deaths that we've just missed (and if deaths were actually, say, 135k instead of 139k that would not change our qualitative assessment of the impact of the virus at all).

The number of people who have coronavirus and die of something else (and would have died without corona anyway) would be completely negligible. By assumption the two events are independent, and your absolute chances of being infected by covid so far and dying of something else in a particular few month span are both very low.

Yeah there are downsides to building new nuclear (I think they could be part of the solution, but it would probably require getting rid of the parts of the red tape that are basically NIMBYism rather than actually necessary for safety), but shutting down existing safely operating nuclear plants is dumb and actively undermines the goal of reducing emissions.

Good to hear, though; I'm sure this update to his plans is based on the task force's recommendations.

Augh, I saw someone whose character looked almost exactly like mine except with a slightly better face and I'm trying to figure out what I fucked up in the character creation settings, but as far as I can tell the settings to recreate her model just don't exist. Like it kinda seems like the primary difference (besides eye color) is that her eyes seem closer together? But I don't think that's even an option in character creation.

I dont think Trump pardoned Stone primarily out of a sense of loyalty. Stone basically said earlier that day that he had incriminating info on Trump that he could have said but didnt; its quid pro quo. He also sees doing this (similar to with Flynn, who didnt have anything on him) as a way of feeding his base and striking back against the evil deep state.

In any case, even if it was actually out of loyalty, getting your criminal friends off the hook out of loyalty is not virtuous at all.

Iirc some studies have found lung damage in a significant fraction asymptomatic patients. Maybe itll just be temporary, but our risk analysis has to consider the fact that even if only 1%ish of cases lead to deaths, we cant rule out a possibly significantly larger fraction having some sort of long term health effects.

How does tanking in raids/trials work? In particular, how does it get decided who's MTing assuming no explicit communication, how do you avoid fighting for aggro, how does MTing/OTing work in alliance raids, etc?
