alright.
i've done what you said.
i formatted the USB to FAT32. i copied the files on to it. deleted the ones from the computer (in both places)
and put it back on my desktop

hopefully that works

it appears that it has to do with how i open the folders.

if i open it from the folder list in D: , it is the corrupted version
but if i open it from the shortcut on the Desktop, it's the correct version.

so, at the moment, i have two windows of the same folder open, and they're both different

it's currently doing the thing again, so i'm a bit unwilling to copy the files on to the USB, as they're basically in a "corrupted" state.
hoping it will come back in time as it has in the past.

what if i just delete the files, and put in the backup from Google Drive, will that get the same result, or is it the formatted USB that's the important bit here?

okay, i tried running chkdsk. just put that in the search bar and click it does nothing.

i tried Running as Admin. made a black window pop up, and a bunch of white text started appearing.
but before i could read anything the window went away.

now i tried right clicking the hardrive, selecting Properties, Tools and the error-control or whatever it's called in english. "No issues were found"

luckily, i did backup the files yesterday. so they're safe

it only seems to happen on this one folder. granted, this is the only folder i've really done substabtial work on for the past while

I was looking through a folder, opened a file and noticed it looked different to what it had yesterday, there was less stuff in it.
then i realized some files in that folder were missing, and some other files also had less stuff in them, as if they had all reverted to a previous form.

then i saw that all the files were "last changed 2020-01-26"

so, fearing some kind of glitch i went to the recycling bin to find newer versions, found only 1 and put it in the folder.
and then i opened the folder again, and now all the files were back to what they were yesterday.

if not for the fact that i was talking with a friend when this happened i would have figured i went temporarily insane.

are there any PC experts who can tell me what the hell just happened?

from what i've heard, it's inconclusive.

some say that it's clear that there were women warriors.
others say that just having a womans grave with weapons in it does not mean you can jump to the conclusion that she has to have been a warrior.

personally, i think it's possible, but saying it's a stated fact would be pushing it.

at least. the legends and popculture perception means it's enough to warrant a female character if they wanna go for that
