So i'm going through the every Gamefaqs poll with NSMB games on it just for the sake of it and My Conclusion is...

...Noone gives two shits about this series. Only 1 contest appearance and it flopped in just about every GOTY poll it was in..

I mean...I equate NSMB series to MK....they are both casual Nintendo franchises the hardcore don't care about as much but MK has powerful nostalgic heavy games like SMK and MK64 that have legit strength wheras NSMB will never ever have any strength in the future. MK8 would also destroy every NSMB game 1v1 too. Hell Double Dash probably would and Double Dash sucked.

I think the first ones were a pretty big deal when they came out, as the last true 2D Mario game was uhh... SMW? Then NSMB2 made them made lose momentum, and then NSMBU didn't bring much needed freshness to the series, even though I've heard it's pretty good and it may just be the best. They may just have suffered from AC/CoD syndrome as the sequels started feeling derivative (as good as they are).

Seconding the opinions that console NSMB > portable NSMB, and 3D World > 3D Land. The portable iterations aren't even close IMO.

Best portable Mario platformer IMO is Super Mario Land 2. The final Wario's Castle level is one of the absolute best levels in the entire franchise. Thrilling stuff.

NSBM DS and Wii are close but I might give the edge to DS.

Just wouldn't be happy with this happening mid-match or SB changing his mind from earlier when he said the match should end at the same time.

As I said in another post, you could make it to have both pairs of polls running at the same time, so the start time of today's pair of matches wouldn't be affected.

BotW is one of those things where hype trumps all, where it's like, cool to just like it. I have this friend that mostly plays the popular things as long as it's on PS4. He's never played a Zelda game in his life, but he bought a BotW shirt and a cap and he just seemed so proud of it.

I don't know what to make of Diablo. Diablo fans hated it at first, me included, don't know if I still do, and not just cause of gameplay. But then it apparently got better.

I'm not buying into Dark Souls being strong. I think TLOU has a real shot at taking it down.

I'm with you, though it's not gonna be easy. People are either overrating Hotline Miami or underrating Crusader Kings II or most likely both. Plus there was some SFF involved with Dark Souls / Hotline Miami (tough action games), while there is virtually zero with the TLOU match.

In the end I'm counting with people opting for the cinematic experience over the masochistic game.

I want to say Ys 8 was the first game in the series to get a release on multiple relevant non-PC platforms, and it was pretty well-received. That said, I would have still pegged it as a step below something like Berseria at best (which... could still be true? who knows), and certainly never over Meat Boy.

I'm not sure I would put it over SMB (which I think is getting hit harder by Sonic due to same genre factor and Sonic wins that on brand), but I would definitely would put it higher than Slay the Spire, so seeing both round 1 results made me more confident that Sonic would win this one.

I'm surprised that not many here had heard of the Ys series. Yeah it's not mainstream, mainly cause it was relegated to computer systems, but it was cult, and I've always specially heard great things about its OST. The first one is one of the few RPGs of the Master System, so I figured if you knew about Phantasy Star, you most likely knew about Ys.

Let me tell you about a tragic tale. I was at a con and I finally found a chance to take a picture with Irina. There were lots of people though and it was hard to get to her for the photo. When I finally got in position, her jerk ass guide blew it all off by saying it was time for her to get changed and ready for the flight to whatever other country. My friend with the camera could've just hurried it up with it, but he insisted the angle wasn't right.

Irina was kind of confused and seemed to want to take the pic but ultimately she was too obedient with the other guy and left, it all just happened very fast. She said she'd be back in 20-30 mins or so. We went to other booths, came back for the appointed time and waited for a good while till the place began to close. Not sure if she actually had come back or not.

She was wearing the Mera outfit.

Yeah, I agree that ME3 is an anti-vote magnet, and now that I think about it, ME3 vs. Starcraft 2 was a "who am I supposed to anti-vote here?" kind of match.

Though I think AC Odyssey is a respected game on its own and shouldn't be so weak.

That match could be seen as just WRPGs been a more popular genre than RTS.

Breath of the Wild actually has a real claim to the title. Hell, if the either of the two potential rally beasts of Witcher and Dark Souls manage to win the whole thing, those would also be real answers.

I don't feel MM resonates with these "objective" definitions. What did it redefine? Benchmark of what? It wasn't that popular either, or broke sales numbers.

However it's a great game and I don't mind it won.
