Yes, the Democrats don't care about Hillary's emails, they don't care about the Bidens and Burisma, they didn't even censure Debbie Wasserman Schultz for rigging a US election, but if a Republican or Bernie did things a tenth as bad they would impeach him.

These negative attack ads against Bernie are a really bad idea for whoever is running them. They will just make him stronger, like all the attacks the Democrats have run against Donald Trump for 4 years. When you have people with no credibility attack others, whomever they attack gets helped!

In 100 years children will learn of the great President Donald Trump, the voice of the people who saved democracy from its enemies. In 1000 years, university students the world over will read The Art of the Deal alongside The Art of War. And in 3000 years, after the nuclear apocalypse, when the United States is only remembered in legends, and no one knows what an email is, still every child will learn of the great evil witch Hillary and her emails.

No, because if Bernie makes Hillary his VP, then that would mean he's somehow been coopted by the centrists and will not be able to deliver on his promises. It would be Hillary as president behind the scenes.

I'm fine with justices like Souter. I just don't like how the liberals nowadays tend to vote as a block. We've seen them vote as a block of 4 so many times, and the block of 5 liberals like to complain about so much doesn't show up nearly as often.

Also, I think young people should get some representation on the Supreme Court. For 200+ years, the high court has been dominated with old, experienced, jurists. We should try appointing a young person with no experience for a change. Just one. How much harm could he cause?

Clarence Thomas isn't getting replaced with a Democrat. Even in the worst case, where a Republican loses a presidential election, he can retire and his successor can be confirmed between November and January. I would support appointing a 25-year-old who has just graduated from law school for maximum longevity.

He's not losing his majority. The Senate favors Republicans in the long run because it gives greater representation to the small states. There are a lot of remaining Democratic senators in red states who will gradually lose their seats and we will ultimately reach a new equilibrium with the number of Republican seats floating around 60.

Unless the Democratic Party does some introspection and turns back from the brink - but I think it's already too late. The Democratic Party is already in the control of the coastal, urban, elitist, liberals. Bernie is their last chance to broaden the tent but they would sooner make Mitch McConnell president than Bernie.

I think there is precedent for how the House of Commons speaker should break ties to avoid breaking his own impartiality. It was something like, on any vote to allow more debate, vote yes; on any vote to pass a bill vote no. Basically punt on substantive decisions as much as possible. I think Roberts could easily vote yes to witnesses using that logic.

What was the justification for acquitting Bill Clinton? He committed perjury and anyone who thinks he didnt is deluding themselves

It's not an impeachable offense. Let's look at the list of impeachable offenses:

Treason, Bribery, and other High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Perjury is not treason or bribery. So what does "other high crimes and misdemeanors" mean? The word "other" means that "high crimes and misdemeanors" are similar in nature to treason and bribery. Does the word "high" modify "crimes" or "crimes and misdemeanors"? I think it has to be the latter, because 1) otherwise it would be written as "treason, bribery, other high crimes, and misdemeanors" and "misdemeanors" without a modifier are not similar in nature to treason and bribery.

So then we've established that impeachment only applies to offenses that are "high." Is perjury about a sex scandal a high crime? Probably not. So he was correctly acquitted.

Imagine having to do it often, in every online conversation.

Wouldnt it be easier on you at that point to just declare it up front?

But you don't really have a right to control what other people call you. When you tell someone to address you as X you are giving a command. Usually that will be followed but if that's the first thing you say to a person, well it creates an atmosphere of hostility.

And we have another way to declare preferred pronouns - names! You have full control over what you use as your name (you don't have to use your legal name).

For me, "they" refers to either multiple people, a set of people that could contain a single person or multiple people, or a single person whose gender is unknown. It cannot refer to a single person whose gender is known. Now that last usage - a single person whose gender is unknown - generations of English teachers would have said is wrong, that in that situation you are supposed to use "he." However, apparently both Shakespeare and the King James Bible have used "they" in that situation so I will accept it as correct usage.

A) He said he didn't want to run against Hillary/Bernie.

B) I'm pretty sure he wouldn't bother with doing all this shit with Ukraine and Biden if he didn't think Biden would be his toughest opponent.

Like I said, people react in predictable ways. Trump may have done this to ensure that the Democratic primary centers on Biden, the way the Republican primary centered on Trump. The worst thing for Biden is for the primary to focus on policy, because he really doesn't have any policies other than to do whatever Obama did. And realistically, he'll need to hire experts to tell him what Obama would have done.

To get Biden as his opponent, Trump needed to make sure the Democratic primary did not center on policy....so make it about a Biden/Ukraine scandal and Democrats will rush to vote for him just because Trump is against him.
