I used HRBlock online tax service this year and my taxes were DD to my bank account but it was through HRBlock. I'm unclear if I'm setup to receive it by DD already...As long as you used your bank account for having your tax return direct deposited, that's how they'll send your stimulus money to your bank according to your latest tax return direct deposit information. --- SpankageBros |

There were a lot of suicides.The thing is prior to the 1930s, there were no safety net programs to aide people when there was an economic downturn so when the Great Depression occurred many many people lost their homes, farms, jobs etc and as you said a lot of those people committed suicide. When FDR was elected, he had witnessed what the GD had done to people to destroy their lives and from that he created Government Safety net programs known as the "New Deal" which created among other things "Social Security", because prior to the New Deal Americans worked until they died and in old age family had to care for you because there was no Pension Plans or 401ks or any of that back then. In addition to SS, "Workman's Comp" was created to assist people who were hurt on the job because again none of that ever existed in America prior to the mid 20th century so if you were hurt or worse on a job, that job didn't provide you or your family with any monetary benefits so essentially you were left penniless to fend on your own. Also created under the New Deal was FHA government backed home loans that allowed working-class Americans for the first time in the country's history to buy a modest family home so for all those people running around yelping about they never got anything from Government, that ain't true because the New Deal and Labor Unions ushered in America's Middle Class beginning in the late 1930's onward. Later in the 1940's the G.I. Bill was created to assist returning servicemen with starting attending college free of charge, starting a business, buying a home, or vocational/job training all on the government dime. So, if you grew up in a suburb, attended college, own a home, or consider yourself to be middle class, theres a good chance youre the beneficiary of the G.I. Bill of Rights. But a certain political party frowned on the New Deal and helping folks and for the past 4 decades or so they have systematically eroded or curtailed most of those New Deal programs. --- SpankageBros |

Back in the 1980s when Reagan was Pres, the GOP frowned on anything that Government did to help people so they started labeling people as "freeloaders" and "lazy" if they were unemployed through no fault of their own and that sentiment was echoed by the people who claimed they never got anything from government so as time moved on the GOP started chipping away at things like "Unemployment", "Workman's Comp", "Food Stamps" etc to make it more difficult for people to apply and receive help when needed and that's how we got here. Newt Gingrich openly bragged at the Heritage Foundation that the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress were going to break out of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt model. That model, of course, created what we today refer to as the middle class.\ FDR created Unemployment Benefits in the 1930s in his New Deal Programs after witnessing Americans suffer greatly during the Great Depression. Ever since the election of Ronald Reagan, Republicans have been working overtime to kneecap institutions that support the American middle class.
