https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/22/dr-anthony-fauci-says-staying-closed-for-too-long-could-cause-irreparable-damage.html

Stay-at-home orders intended to curb the spread of the coronavirus could end up causing irreparable damage if imposed for too long, White House health advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNBC on Friday. I dont want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for a prolonged period of time is the way to go, Fauci said during an interview with CNBCs Meg Tirrell on Halftime Report. He said the U.S. had to institute severe measures because Covid-19 cases were exploding then. But now is the time, depending upon where you are and what your situation is, to begin to seriously look at reopening the economy, reopening the country to try to get back to some degree of normal. However, Fauci also cautioned states against reducing social distancing measures too quickly, adding they must take very significant precautions. In general, I think most of the country is doing it in a prudent way, he said. There are obviously some situations where people might be jumping over that. I just say please proceed with caution if youre going to do that.

https://www.zerohedge.com/technology/joe-rogan-says-he-going-war-against-google-and-big-tech

Alex Jones exclusively revealed Thursday that Joe Rogan signed an exclusivity contract for his podcast with Spotify as a way of striking back against YouTube censorship. Jones, who has been friends with Rogan for 22 years, spoke at length with the podcast king, with Rogan telling him that he should announce to the world that the move is a direct strike against Google, that the gloves are off and he is going to war against big tech tyranny. Jones told his audience that Rogan had encouraged him to go on air and put it all out there.

Jones, who has appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience numerous times, also announced that Rogan had specifically requested in his contract with Spotify that the Infowars host will be allowed to appear uncensored on the podcast on Spotify. Jones said Rogan wants him as the first guest on the show when it arrives on Spotify on the 1st of September, followed by Elon Musk, who is also currently speaking out against big tech censorship and cancel culture. The last time Jones appeared on the podcast, it was the most listened to podcast of 2019 with over 17 million views on YouTube. Google was subsequently caught shadow banning the episode in an attempt to stop its popularity. Jones said Rogan told him he is sick of being treated poorly by Google, and the straw that broke the camels back was that Rogan wanted to interview doctors and experts who have differing opinions on the coronavirus to the officially sanctioned narrative, and was told by YouTube that they would not allow such content on their platform.

Didn't realize Joe was friends with someone like Alex Jones.

https://www.fox13news.com/news/desantis-former-manager-of-coronavirus-dashboard-not-a-data-scientist-faces-cyber-stalking-charge

Florida's governor says the woman who was in charge of the state's COVID-19 dashboard has active criminal cases against her, suggesting her claims of data manipulation were just being amplified by those looking for a "boogeyman." During a press conference Wednesday afternoon with Vice President Mike Pence, DeSantis went further, disputing nearly every claim Jones made in recent interviews. "One, she is not a data scientist. She is somebody thats got a degree in journalism, communication and geography. She is not involved in collating any data, she does not have the expertise to do that, she is not an epidemiologist, she is not the chief architect of our web portal. That is another false statement," the governor said. "She was putting data on the portal, which the scientists didn't believe was valid data. So, she didn't listen to people who were her superiors, she had many people above her in the chain of command. And so then she was dismissed because of that."

Then, DeSantis said Jones is under "active criminal charges" in Florida, which includes cyber-stalking and cyber-sexual harassment.
"I have a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment," the governor said, adding that he was asking the Department of Health to explain how she had remained employed despite the charges. Records in the Leon County Clerk of Court website show Rebekah Jones was involved in cases matching what the governor said. In October 2017 and in June 2019, a temporary injunction for stalking was filed against her in Leon County. Those cases are closed. In July 2019, a stalking case was filed by the state of Florida against Jones. The case remains open.

Holy shit he destroyed her.

https://www.cnn.com/videos/tv/2020/05/17/exp-gps-0517-fareeds-take.cnn/video/playlists/cnngo-commentary/

Lets look at the covid-19 crisis through this prism. Imagine you are an American who works with his hands a truck driver, a construction worker, an oil rig mechanic and you have just lost your job because of the lockdowns, as have more than 36 million people. You turn on the television and hear medical experts, academics, technocrats and journalists explain that we must keep the economy closed in other words, keep you unemployed because public health is important. All these people making the case have jobs, have maintained their standards of living and in fact are now in greater demand. They feel as though they are doing important work. You, on the other hand, have lost your job. You feel a sense of worthlessness, and youre terrified about your familys day-to-day survival. Is it so hard to understand why people like this might be skeptical of the experts?

The covid-19 divide is a class divide. The Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report last year on the job flexibilities of U.S. employees. Of the top 25 percent of income earners, more than 60 percent can stay home and still do their jobs. Of the bottom 25 percent, fewer than 10 percent can do the same. Anthony S. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has said he understands that maintaining these guidelines is inconvenient. For many people, they are not just inconvenient; they are life-shattering. Not all of those who work on the front lines or work with their hands are Trump voters but all understand that it is a luxury to be able to work from home.

https://www.vox.com/2020/5/16/21258834/coronavirus-essential-workers-hazard-pay-kroger-target-covid

A floral clerk at a King Soopers grocery store in Colorado Springs, Colorado, she comes into close contact with shoppers every day. When Im outside watering the plants, the customers dont keep within six feet of me at all, she told Vox. Theyre actually within touching distance. McHonie has been anxious about coming to work during the pandemic, but one thing she appreciated was the $2-an-hour hero bonus that King Soopers parent company, Kroger, gave essential workers like her starting at the end of March.
But Krogers hero bonus raises are scheduled to end on May 16, even as coronavirus cases continue to rise across the country. The grocer isnt alone other companies that instituted some form of additional pay for workers earlier this year in recognition of their position on the front lines are now rolling back those increases, even though the danger is far from gone. Starbucks, for example, is planning to end a $3-per-hour raise for workers at the end of May, according to the Los Angeles Times. Meanwhile, some companies that employ essential workers right now have seen increased sales and boosted executive pay inrecent months. Kroger, for example, saw same-store sales increase 30 percent in March as customers stocked up on groceries, according to Winsight Grocery Business. And Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen received a 21 percent increase in compensation last year, boosting his income to more than $14 million. The company has not responded to Voxs requests for comment.

Many essential workers, by contrast, are making less than a living wage even with the increase in pay. And they urgently need more money both to pay their bills and to stay safe during the pandemic, says Molly Kinder, a fellow at the Brookings Institution who studies hazard pay. For example, many low-wage workers cant afford cars, meaning they risk exposureto the virus on public transit during their commutes to work. Millions of essential workers also lack health insurance, jeopardizing their ability to seek treatment and making any illness potentially financially devastating for them and their families. When your employer gives you low wages, Kinder said, those low wages make you less resilient to the disease.

Saw a guy get kicked out of Walmart in my area when he took off his mask and refused to put it back on. It felt great to see them taking this seriously.
