Post-show thoughts:

• I checked the topic before I started watching, and yes, that conversation was one of the best.
• How different is this game if Jeremy stuck around and voted instead of leaving without power? Or if Nick voted Ben? Or Sophie played her idol? It's insane how Nick's exit was... the easiest of the post-merge. Hell, after weeks and weeks of just the craziest, most frantic, whisper-filled Tribals, both of tonight's were... not. Maybe Denise does win. She says she's done with scrambling, and the Tribal scrambling stops.
• I think Tony has too much of chance to win, and I want to be against his winner edit... but I like a good story, and Sarah and Tony sold me. Tony won one, Sarah won one, let's have a tiebreaker. Tony and Sarah don't just set the bar, THEY ARR DA BARR
• FOURTEEN TOKENS. Natalie is the best. I want her back in this game, and I want her to win.
• And while Tony's edit is a huge factor in his favor, and I still would like to see him and Sarah at the end, I cannot say the same if Tyson comes back in again. I like Tyson, but if anyone on Edge has a winner's chance (besides maybe Natalie who had only one non-Edge episode with an Edgic), it's Tyson and I'd honestly be bored seeing him come back in because I kind of expect it. The only person coming back from Edge that would disappoint me would be Tyson.
• I mean, I don't want Adam or Wendell or Nick back in the game, but I would definitely be surprised by it. Almost added Rob to that pile, but he's felt backseat to Amber since he got voted out. Amber's been the driving force of their time on Edge, and it's the most I've enjoyed Amber on all her time in Survivor.

Some enemies seem to drop it more than others. If you've seen that enemy with that name and color before the Mana Sanctuary, it probably won't drop the ??? seeds. Is it a brand new enemy or new name/color combination, there's a good chance it will.

Dont know about postgame equipment, but my team had no trouble with the seeds (thanks to Hawkeye and Cacti).

Spoilers about a change from SD3:
The forest that was next to the ancient city is gone. The ??? Seeds can be found once in nearly every Benevodan dungeon and can drop from high tier enemies. I dont know about high level since the enemies seen earlier in the game are still dropping Silver and Gold Seeds despite being level 50+, but the Bee Queen enemies in the Wander Woods dropped ??? fairly consistently. And Weapon/Armor seeds are now rolled into a low chance in Gold and a larger chance/exclusive drop from Rainbow.

It's weird to me in relation. The original? There's a good chance you'd finally be hitting L38 at the final Benevodons, but I hit 38 before I got to Sanctuary. Class changed at 48, beat final boss at 69. 20 to 25 hour game.

This is actually what turns me off to the game. The micromanaging, keeping synergy in mind, researching because you might legit get a BAD class etc.

Not to mention having to grind for the materials to class change to begin with. Just puts a screeching halt to things and it kills it for me. And it sucks cause I love this game otherwise

The micromanaging is not NEARLY as bad as SD3. I'm really just complaining about Hawkeye to complain. He was actually pretty solid and since I statted/levelled him more for utility and AI assistance, that's the role I got and had. I'm complaining because I made a support character, and he played like a support character, XD.

But still, his L2 and L3 supertechs were trash. Awesome, awesome at building up CS for the team with his power strikes, and I haven't played without Kevin/Hawkeye yet to know if it's much harder to acquire without their combo machine attacks blitzing enemies down all over.

It's much less micromanagy than SD3. MUCH less.

Like, Angela had no attack power and could still hit things for damage unlike SD3 where you'd only do that to build up MP or tech gauge because she'd only hit for single digits.

I think the biggest flaw with my first run was making Hawkeye go Light side. I'm probably just not realizing how much the AI's spellcasting saved me in boss fights, but he was the least fun to use. Both Light and L/L supertechs sucked compared to how amazing Light Kevin and Light Angela's were (her L2 is soooo good on a close stack of enemies, especially since i think damage is still based off her intelligence score). I really should have gone Ninja....

...but the Ranger outfit is sooooo good

There's also a Cactus level, I think 35 or 40, that shows on the map how many Cacti are in each location. It doesn't show them on the map itself, but the 0/2 kind of thing. Really helped me out when I thought I had searched every square inch of a place, but it turned out there was a place to jump to I never looked at.

I'm in the middle of Dark Castle now and just wanted to sort out some thoughts comparing to my recollection of Seiken Densetsu 3.

First of all, the game is easier by virtue of the added bonuses and combat changes. Take away the Cacti, the battle experience bonuses, and the extra stats and buff feats, and the game would be pretty much the same in terms of development. You'd have much more grinding, much lower damage (no more Strength +5 boosts so you can go back to doing single-digit damage to freaking Potos in Undine's cavern), and with Charge attacks being less useful except for breaking armor, battles are a lot faster because you're not holding down the attack button for seven charges to unleash the (still-terrible and super missable) Light-Light Hawkeye L3 attack.

Also, with the Cacti and Item Find buffs and the gold items scattered throughout maps, Seeds were a lot, A LOT, harder to farm. I've gotten enough seeds to hit a Level 5 Pot! The ultimate seed weapons that were super rare and very hard to farm have been filling my pockets with Lucre for all the extra Genbu Suits that pop out of Silver Item Seeds. With good seed farming, I haven't really needed to buy weapons or armor since the fifth Benevodon. I still do because I want one of every single item, and weapons are fun to look at on characters, and if I weren't buying every single thing from the shopkeepers (and resetting to make sure I buy everything from them before they restock), I'd probably have 1000000 Gols right now.

These are not complaints, just observations. I'm LOVING this game. If I were to complain, it'd just be stupid stuff. Like, I ALSO wish the hair colors changed, and if I could change anything about the game, anything at all, it would be this:

When characters class change, I want them to pose like the old sprites and not just have the same one every time. I miss the different attitudes each pose brought.

Finally got some ??? seeds. Not sure what I want to do.

Got Silver Aura for Kevin. I'm in my late 40s now so I'm wondering whether to wait and find Golden Aura for Divine Fist (the old God Hand), or just go with it and pick up the multi-heal. I have a Light/Light Hawkeye and Angela's... haven't checked yet, but it's Light/???. I don't have much for damage, in terms of Warrior Monk being Kevin's weakest physically... but should I wait and pray, or go for it?

Edit: Well... I WAS gonna go Nomad with Hawkeye, but all the spells I want are locked by Spirit and I'm at zero points in there. Most of my points are in Luck/Int/Str, and Luck just gets base stuff soon.

Hawkeye/Kevin/Angela team (Team Antagonist, woop woop), just got to Valsena.

• The level up has been very satisfying so far. It feels like levelling-up in D&D almost, where every few levels you pick up new feats and abilities, and multi-classing (multi-statting) delays things you can get.
• I can't speak for playstyle too much since I have both Kevin and Hawk, the original combo hitters, but they are definitely much faster and more fluid in physical combat than Angela. And Hawkeye's B-B-Y power strike is a whirling spiral that attacks multiple times in a small radius around him which definitely keeps him a level above the rest as fast-attack extraordinaire.
• I can't remember the last game I used my healing items as much or as often as this. I think I've gone through at least 30-50 Candies in only six hours. Maybe Tales games with Apple/Orange Gels, but I blame that on AI wanting to use items every five seconds (no, Repede, bad dog! *swats cancel button all throughout fights against tiny axe beaks* Enemies hurt, and I definitely remember those old SD3 scars from tougher enemies.
• The shy Cactus from Sword of Mana, and probably other Mana games, is like the DQXI Mini-medal sidequest. You find a cactus, you get a stamp, and every five or so, you unlock something. It's not much of a spoiler since it's an automatic event only a few hours in, but it's new and different from the original.
• The music is so freaking good. I don't know if it's nostalgia for these loops, but I don't think I've enjoyed a soundtrack while playing as much as I am right now.
• My only issue so far is the voicework. There's a lot that doesn't match up to what I remember and some of the accenting is (Angela's valley girl, Charlotte's kwuteness) too much. The direction just feels off, especially for how wimpy (Kevin, Angela's boy friend, Watts) some characters sound/act. I think the actors do a great job with what they're given, and it's not terrible, but it just feels like the weakest part of things.
• I may also be conflating that last point with how much some of Life is Strange 2's voice acting bothered me and I just played a lot last night.

Overall, loving it and more.

My favorite Marvel villain is absolutely Bullseye.

He's been on the Thunderbolts and Dark Avengers and, if you count it, The Hand.

He's never been adapted into an animated series probably because he's such an unrepentant psychopath they can't tone him down enough.

He's been in the Daredevil movie and the Daredevil series (RIP Season 4).

He's had, by my count, three miniseries.

He has never been even remotely heroic in his life. He's just the worst, even when he pretended to be Hawkeye.

And there is nobody who has ever been a bigger archvillain to Daredevil than him. I would place him above Kingpin.

Bullseye is my favorite villain because he is legitimately evil and there is no redemption for him. He's efficient and obsessed and is willing to commit heinous acts just to give himself a laugh. His dark humor always gets me, every single time. And he's just such an utter psychopath who only cares about mayhem and murder, and that's always why I gravitated to him is because it's honestly that simple and that terrifying. I seriously believe there is no villain in the Marvel universe who would be more terrifying to run into than Bullseye, because he would have no qualms with straight murdering you just for a chuckle.

And as an antagonist to Daredevil, he's just a perfect foil. Matthew Murdock, pushed by his beliefs in balance of law and order and Bullseye with zero regard for any rules or sensibilities. Bullseye makes it intensely personal with him and it started by the man with perfect aim not being able to hit Daredevil, and it's just escalated so out of control that Bullseye takes absolute joy in ruining Daredevil's life in any way he can.

He's a menace, a monster, and I believe he's more of a rarity in the Marvel universe in that he is just among the most evil villains imaginable. And all in all, he's just a man who has perfect aim. No super powers aside from that. But he still manages to be a more terrifying presence than most villains with abilities.

Holy crap... he passed my mind once or twice, but I could've sworn...

...yeah, nope, never animated. Even with the Spider-Man: The Animated Series having Kingpin as a main villain, and Daredevil showing up a number of times, yep. No Bullseye.

Bullseye has always felt to me like a Batman villain personality in a Flash villain suit & powers. I KNOW he's a Daredevil villain and has many run-ins with other heroes and mercs and is just the worst, but every time I look at him in his costume, my first second is trying to remember which Rogue he is.

I don't really have much experience with Bullseye outside of Thunderbolts/Deadpool and vague remembrance of the Frank Miller run.

That's a tough but exciting clue. Like, there have been a myriad of different animated series, and as most are monster-of-the-week kind of things, they run through a lot of villains. So someone who is in live-action but not in cartoon is tough, especially thinking about super powers. And though they've been adapted into live action, that may not necessarily mean the MCU. Could be Netflix Marvel, could be Sony/Fox movies, hell could be Incredible Hulk from the 70s/80s.

But who isn't animated???

I feel like I've got something, on the tip of my tongue, but I'm not getting past an Agents of SHIELD rolodex.

Perhaps... Purple Man? I don't recall any animation with him.

I think my favorite thing about the Adam's attempt to play an idol tonight was how well foreshadowed it was (whether it worked or it didn't).

Off the top of my head, we had:

• Adam checking under the urn when voting.
• Adam looking around the voting booth at everything.
• At his first tribal, Adam failing for a full minute to put his torch in the ground. He thought it was a hole.

Adam noticing what could be an idol at tribal is well-established and I completely agree that it looked like Denise's and was prominent enough to be one. Adam just going for it and struggling with it and it turns out not to be what he thinks it is goes back ALL the way to his first Tribal this season. When he came in, and when he left. BOOKENDS

Further notes:

• That Sia song was.... not good the way they did it. It felt like... did anyone watch the Super Broly movie a few years ago? It felt like the fight music in that where we really, really didn't need the same thing repeated twenty times in two minutes.
• I am also much warmer to Ben now, and I didn't see that happening back after the first few episodes. Maybe without the Robfather and Crazy Adam as his allies/teammates, he's much less grating. I think I'd be as impatient with them as Ben was if I had to live with them for thirty-nine days. He's much looser with the rest of the tribe. Also, kung fu stabilization.
• I'm sorry, but this was the best whispering at Tribal council tribal ever. We had Ben and Adam having a full-on and open conversation while the other nine are just silently whispering with everyone else for a full minute or two and we get nothing from them for that time, their whispers ancillary to Adam/Ben and a mystery for what's to happen... until everyone is seated and Adam is asking questions and after a full two segments of names being thrown everywhere, pretty much everyone's name mentioned more than once (except Tony, Ben, and Sophie I think?), and there's just.... crickets. This is the most composed and silent and sure they've looked in episodes, and there's a palpable glaring answer that "Adam, the tribe has spoken" before votes are even cast. God, that was amazing.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this crazy, crazy ride.

HAven't been playing much, but I just stumbled upon Kitchen Stadium in Dahngrest, and had to look up best twons because I didn't remember seeing anything about Iron Chef in those write-ups.

Good to see Dahngrest #1! That theme is so good.

I forget what actually is canon these days, but I still like to joke that it's just a picture of a sword since everyone forgot both Maxwell Lord and later Wonder Woman.

Agreed. While I sadly forget about how ****ing amazing the Black Adam stuff is when I reflect on 52 (I almost always zero in on Ralph/Booster/Renee first, with Black Adam/Lex second... which Black Adam should really be right after Booster), I definitely don't forget about how much I don't like the Strange space adventures. It's partially due to that they are so far-flung from the rest of the heroes that they don't have those intersections with the rest of the storylines like you've already seen with Booster/Dibny and you'll see soon with Question/Black Adam.
