Oh heck yeah, when I see the phrase "80s remix" my ears just perk up. Very cool retrowave/synthwave vibes, I don't actually know what the original sounds like but I hear parts of To Far Away Times in there. Makes sense that these are the same people who did the Cosmic Star Heroine soundtrack! 2:00 is real good, love me some flashy synth solos.

Huh?! sounds like a random encounter jingle, but apparently it only plays once in-game. This feels a bit more intense than the mild surprise of "Huh?!", maybe it should be called "What?!" or something.

Oh I know World Revolution, it's the final battle against Lavos? Forgot what it actually sounds like, but those church organ chords are very familiar. Don't really feel like it's an exciting battle theme, needs more intense percussion or something! The wobbling bass synth also sounds kinda weird.

My love for Apex has just grown and grown since I first gave it a support! I said Aka Desert was my favourite discovery before, but this song has really become something special to me. It's made me appreciate the Three Houses soundtrack more and even Fire Emblem music in general! So many good motifs used in this final level theme, especially 3:06 I think that's from the bridge of Edge of Dawn?

Secret of the Forest is like a more peaceful To Far Away Times, though it sounds more like an underwater theme to me than anything. The high strings that hit at 1:16 are kind of grating, definitely prefer the first half of the song. SupraDarky had this as Best VGM 168 and a similar-sounding song as Best VGM 169 lol

Whoa a calm music box piece named Good Night, PMD2 has one of those too! Shame that it's so short, but it does do a good job of relaxing me in the 5 seconds that it exists. Weird that it feels like a nice resolution even though the bass note ends on the fourth scale degree.

The Girl Who Stole the Star is another song I kinda recognize from Chrono Cross! This version sounds vaguely tragic, if it's about a girl stealing a star I feel like it would be to save her dying father using some ancient magic. I have to say, I'm a fan of the soft instruments from this soundtrack so far! Might actually be better than the Cross version.

Delightful Spekkio looks like some kind of goofy joke enemy based on Google Images. I have a hard time seeing this as a character theme, it feels more like a "shopping at the market" kinda song, unless this guy really is comic relief that you later befriend or something. Oh, maybe it plays when he shows you around the town along a scripted path like Come Along from the Pokemon series idk

Place has asked for someone to vouch for Sunshine Coastline so here I am to VOUCH. I think the first 1.5 minutes are alright, the song treads the line of overly saccharine by relying on two standard chord progressions...but oh man, when they switch up in the second half and it lays on the thick synth layer and it's all sweet sweet guitar and synth riffing, you feel like you're on top of the world! It's weirdly nostalgic in a way - not for the early childhood days as is typical, but more for a period of adolescence. Yeah, the rebellious teenager days when you felt unstoppable and wanted to take on the entire world! I'd blast this song on the aux cord while speeding down the freeway in my convertible, joking with friends as the wind rushes through our hair with the sun high in the sky...

Super tough match, was about to vote Mechalullaby but DSHN ultimately impressed me after 3-4 listens (that's like 6-8 loops!). Though Mechalullaby feels more cohesive and digestible, DSHN has a lot more to offer when I give it my attention and don't let it fade into the background.
