I'm kinda curious if they'll be able to attack the same turn they wake up.

Pretty sure the answer is no for all dormant cards. (Unless they have charge or rush).

Maiev + Kaelthas is going to setup a lot of silly things I think.

Maiev + Clockwork Automaton in wild as well. With Cube you can set up an OTK with hunter or Bloodreaver Guldan hero powers. (And there's some setups for the Demonhunter metamorphosis hero powers as well).

Incidentally, for those wondering how the new Maiev card will work:

Dormant cards keep all enchantments when they wake up. (So no it's not a silence against magnetized mechs in wild or anything like that).

I was sub-4k on US for a while as well, though it had nothing to do with crashes. For whatever reason I was getting absolutely dumpstered in US for a good stretch while simultaneously doing the same to everyone else in Asia.
Might have been harder at 4k early on. I basically didn't play battlegrounds at all for a good month or two after it came out, by which point all the competent people had climbed well out of 4k. I'd lose to the occasional good player or occasional highroll, but half the lobby would just like...kind-of implode or quit early.

Anyway, people are using Grizzled Wizard in Wild to nuke Raza Priest's hero power and it's kinda great:

Playing Battlegrounds about once a day, and spreading it out across all three regions, has allowed me to pretty much stay in the 4k range forever. This is a great ego boost because my stats say these are my last fifteen results between the regions.

2nd - 5
3rd - 4
4th - 2
7th - 1

Oh yeah, being in the 4k range while knowing what you're doing is great. People on rBobsTavern didn't believe me when I said I got 1st or 2nd most games. "But even the top streamers don't pull that off" yeah, and top streamers aren't in the 4k range.

(I was actually sub 4k for a while, cause the first several games I played were on mobile when the game crashed roughly once per turn).

Yeah, I don't think the card is OP. (Better than Lifedrinker as a 4 mana face damage minion, but not OP). I just like Wronchi's animations.

Speaking of wild though, what the hell is this?

Evocation|| 1-Mana || Legendary Mage Spell
Fill your hand with random Mage spells. At the end of your turn, discard them.

This causes...all sorts of messes in wild. For starters, obviously good with quest, which is already arguably the best deck in wild.

But even outside of quest decks, mage can use this spell plus Elemental Evocation to play Mountain Giant on turn 1. >_<. Guess we know why they hall of famed Mountain Giant.

Funnily enough most of the mage decks I run into aren't even playing Flamewaker, so I kind of blanked on Flamewaker shenanigans.

After watching this first game, I've come to the conclusion that Wild is no longer salvageable. It was already on the brink, considering Mages could kill you from any board state on like Turn 6 with the coin anyway, but now it's suuuuuuper dead.
What mage deck could kill you on turn 6 with the coin?

Like...I understand that Secret Mage is an aggro deck, and can point fireballs at your face if you afk for the first 6 turns, but it's just an aggro deck. Healing/gaining armour/fighting for board can delay it well past turn 6. And Quest Mage certainly can't kill till turn 9 at the earliest (they need to play Vargoth (4) + Time Warp (5) and can't use coin to do so).

---

Anyway, I'm a little worried about the new Druid deck, buuut I haven't actually faced it at all so far. Still facing almost entirely Priests in wild. Razakus Priest, which is understandable cause it just got buffed, but also a ton of res priest for...some reason. Weird cause that deck mostly went away when Barnes got nerfed, and nothing about the deck has been buffed yet.

EDIT: also worth noting that the wild Kael'Thas druid? You can run almost the same deck in standard (replace Ultimate Infestation with Overflow). Some streamers have also combined it with the Druid quest so that Nourish draws 3 and gains 2 mana crystals. So...this isn't a wild thing, it's a Kael'Thas thing.

5 mana Giggling was a terror in arena. Probably the strongest arena card they've ever printed, other than maybe some legendary that you'd rarely see (Tarim?). It was still playable at 7 and might be among the top cards at 6. I guess we'll see when it rotates back in. Not that arena factored into their decision making at all, I'm sure. It's been so mismanaged and neglected that it's basically a dead format.
Oh yeah, the slower the format the betteer Giggling is. Wild being a fast format, 5 mana giggling wasn't super impactful. Arena being slower than Standard, well...RIP.

I've been calling for MCT to be hall of famed for like...two years now. They removed it from Arena cause it was so awful to play against.

Just a stupid card. The difference between stealing a 1/1 and stealing an 8/8 sea giant is like...a 28 point stat swing decided entirely by RNG. It's literally the only card I wanted to see on the hall of fame list this year.

Acolyte of Pain and Spellbreaker are a surprise. Basically in the interview they said they wanted to print more class card drawing and class silences.

Apparently the patch notes list the cards that are having their nerfs reverted after they rotate as well:

Updates Planned for March 26
  • Dr. Boom, Mad Genius
  • Old: Cost 9 mana New: Cost 7 mana.
  • Giggling Inventor
  • Old: Cost 7 mana New: Cost 6 mana.
  • Raiding Party
  • Old: Cost 4 mana New: Cost 3 mana.
  • Reckless Experimenter
  • Old: Deathrattle minions you play cost (3) less, but die at end of turn. (Cost can't be reduced below 1.) New: Deathrattle minions you play cost (3) less, but die at end of turn.

Pretty much exactly what I expected, (except I thought Giggling would go back to 5 mana, since it actually wasn't a problem card at 5 mana pre-nerf).

I also almost always get duplicate epics while getting 0 of most of them.

Yeah I just recently got back into it and the first thing I told MSG when I saw it was "wtf why did they print a 1 mana 2/2 neutral"
I will say though, a 1 mana 2/2 neutral has always been something they could print. It was never a question of "if" but "when".

Like...Mistress of Mixtures is a 1 mana 2/2 neutral with deathrattle heal both players for 4. And that was printed what...three to four years ago? If wild is any indication, not only is Mistress of Mixtures a better card than the new 2/2 (due to fitting into any slow warlock deck), a lot of old aggro 1 drops are also better than the new 2/2, all three of Glacial Shard and Fire Fly and Southsea Deckhand are seeing more play than the new 2/2.

Of course wild can be a little weird sometimes (Runic Egg and Skaterbot and Violet Spellwing are seeing play due to extreme synergy). But the point is...the 1 mana 2/2 doesn't really stand out and is basically not meta at all.

Even in Standard where it is meta, Technically on HSReplay it's only the 4th most included 1-drop right now (behind Praise Galakrond, Pharaoh Cat, and Dwarven Sharpshooter). Though sure, if we ignore class cards it's the best neutral 1 drop in standard (with #2 being fairly far behind; Mecharoo and Hot Air Baloon basically tied for #2-#3 cause they go into all the same mech decks, followed by Beaming Sidekick in 4th). Basically all the other good 1 drops rotated out a year ago.

The meta is ok, but it's pretty hard to innovate.

Like...there are metas where I can do dumb experimental shit at rank 5 and get wins. This is not one of them. You're playing Galakrond, you're playing highlander, or you're playing a highly tuned aggro deck. Or if aggro gets too out of control, resurrect priest can sweep in. That's the meta.

From my experience don't try to run decks that are outside of that.

Like...what are some things I've experimented with....

I mean, purely with themes from the new set...

Dragon Priest used to be a thing way back in the day--how's that go? Yeah, good luck winning with that with the new cards.

Dragon Paladin got a bunch of cards, and it already had a dragon theme before this set--yeah, no I got zero wins even when playing in casual when I tried to just jam a bunch of dragons into a paladin deck.

To be clear, you can run some of the shiny new dragon synergy cards but only if you're like...supporting one of the three main archetypes (Galakrond/Highlander/Aggro). Like...Galakrond Warlock can run Nether Breath and Crazed Netherwing. That's fine. Similarly, you can run some paladin dragon synergy cards if you are running highlander paladin. And...Dragon Hunter is basically a face deck, so it's ok to run that.

IDK, I've gone back to mostly playing wild personally. Yeah, Galakrond decks exist in wild too, but there's still more room for innovation and deck variety.

There is a 100% chance he does that, because hes a better person than Elizabeth Warren.

Elizabeth Warren would make a better President than Bernie.
I think both these things can be true at the same time.

Warren might not endorse before the primary is over (much like 2016) as she might want to leave open the possibility of being Biden's VP. Alternatively emotions might be still running high from her spat between her and Bernie (whereas if the roles were reversed and Warren was doing well on Super Tuesday and Bernie was dropping out, I think Bernie would immediately endorse and start campaigning for Warren as she is ideologically the closest person to him in the race. He would have no interest in being Biden's VP).

But simultaneously, I do think Warren would make a more effective president than Bernie as president in a number of ways. She gives better speeches, she's significantly better at translating complicated policy ideas into easy explanations that the public can understand, she has a reputation of being very effective at putting the political screws on people (she got an oversight board of the banking industry made when she wasn't even holding political office). Don't get me wrong, there's some other ways where she might be less effective too (needing to pass three separate bills for her medicare for all plan seems much harder to achieve).

Well 2016 Bernie DID succeed at pushing a lot of the party mainstream to the left. But after that he got even MORE left and the party refuses to play that game again.
Not really? As in I don't think Bernie has really shifted at all between 2016 and 2020?

His major campaign policy is still medicare for all. Several campaigns started out supporting medicare for all, so he was initially effective (Buttigeig, Harris, Warren), and then to varying degrees shifted to the right when insurance companies started running ads in places like Iowa trashing medicare for all.

If anything, one of my big criticisms of Bernie was how few new policy positions he put forward in the 2020 campaign that he hadn't already put forward in the 2016 campaign. (Part of the reason I liked Warren, especially when she was putting out a lot of different plans, making good suggestions like breaking up big tech etc).

Like...in what substantial way has Bernie moved to the left since 2016? Other than perhaps on foreign policy (where it's more that he didn't really come across as having a good understanding of foreign policy in 2016).

I think Biden can get away with cancelling his rallies. His strength doesn't come from rallies it comes from nostalgia.

It would be a lot harder for Bernie to cancel his rallies. Among other things, this is where they get young people registered to vote etc.

The Bernie camp is m4a or nothing.
That's not really true.

Like, AOC actually said the quiet part out loud, which is that congressional bills always end up making concessions. This is why you start negotiating from a position of strength before making concessions, she outright said that it's possible m4a during congressional negotiations might get negotiated down to a public option.

If you recall, this is more or less what happened with Obamacare--at first they had a public option, and then the public option and other good provisions in the bill got negotiated away to the point that Obamacare was basically Romneycare.

The idea is to not concede a bunch of ground before negotiations start. And this is something I've heard a lot from Bernie supporters. They would like a full single payer system, they understand the bill will probably get weaker while negotating for votes.

If he wanted to get something passed, he would often write a bill, give it to someone else, and have them put their name on it instead of him. This actually allows you to get more done, not less, because it's something you can use as a bargaining chip to get things passed (politicians in general love putting their name on stuff, so you can build votes and build support that way. Also if he needs republican votes to pass something, he would give, say, a pro veteran bill to a republican for them to present, since republicans are much more likely to vote for a republican author).

In all likelihood Bernie actually got more done in the senate than Biden (relative to time spent in the senate) though that's going to be very hard to confirm up or down since the nature of the way he worked didn't leave a paper trail.

Though regardless "number of bills authored" isn't a great metric to measure politicians by regardless. I don't follow senators nearly as closely as I follow presidents, so lets look at number of executive orders. George W Bush signed more executive orders than Barrack Obama (291 to 276) both less than Richard Nixon (346) all way more than Abraham Lincoln (48) who in turn beats George Washington (8) and all of the above get blown out of the water by Herbert Hoover at 968. I would strongly disagree with a presidential ranking that had Hoover > Nixon > W Bush > Obama > Lincoln > Washington.

Joe did 0 outreach in several states that he won
Bernie also made significant inroads into African American voting blocks, and at one point a few weeks ago was polling higher than Joe Biden among African Americans (in some polls). Certainly he was consistently doing better than the rest of the non Joe Biden field.

Which surprised me; I thought maybe Elizabeth Warren would have more appeal to African Americans than Bernie, but no, not even close; her white support was way higher than her African American support.

It really does seem to be South Carolina momentum. The combination of Steyer spending millions targeting young black voters (young black voters skew more towards Bernie, older ones more towards Biden, so Steyer and Bernie would have split the youth vote) combined with Jim Clyburn's endorsement which is apparently very influential in the state.

Actually speaking of Tulsi, I'm now very morbidly thinking about what would happen if Biden and Sanders were to suddenly die. More than half of the pledged delegates are outstanding; even if people said "f*** it I'm not voting for Tulsi" and voted instead for one of the dead or withdrawn candidates, would all of the delegates go to Tulsi with there being no way of stopping her from winning on the first ballot?
This is why people say that they are "suspending their campaign" not "ending their campaing".

Suspending just means putting on pause. If Biden and Sanders suddenly died, I'm pretty sure Warren, Bloomberg, Buttigeig, and Klobuchar would all un-suspend their campaigns.

Changing the rules to exclude Tulsi? Rigged!
I'm honestly pretty ok with them setting debate requirements one higher than whatever Tulsi currently has. Like...most of the rumors around her have been either that she's angling for a job in the Trump administration, or angling for a job as a Fox News contributor (she's been going on Fox news a lot, went on Dave Rubin's show and agreed with his implications that all other dem candidates were unpatriotic).

Or if you think Hillary Clinton was being honest in that one interview, maybe Tulsi's a Russian asset (seems unlikely).

Either way, there's a lot of risk to letting her into the debate, with very little upside.

I know. I just think the whole "Bernie is actually a centrist in international terms and everyone to the right of him is a conservative" line is bulls***.
He's definitely left of center even by international standards, but not by a whole lot. Here's where Political Compass puts him:

https://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2020

Sanders is to the left of center here, although he's closer to center than a lot of other candidates. (Warren is the closest to political center according to that chart).

By comparison, here's the UK (and bear in mind the UK voted for Brexit and have Boris Johnson as VP, it's not like I'm linking you Norway here):

https://www.politicalcompass.org/uk2019

With Labour, the main opposition party, visibly to the left of Sanders. (Corbyn in particular is pretty far to the left of Sanders).

This shows up in his policies too. Like...single payer healthcare for example is something that just about every country has that he supports...but his version actually goes a bit further. It covers dental and vision (which are not covered in Canada for example). I believe it might cover pharmaceutical drugs as well (also not covered in Canada, and in fact rising drug prices were a major issue in the last Canadian election).

There's also the part where advocating for change in general is always harder than advocating small iterations on a working system. Going to single payer healthcare would be like ripping off a bandaid--good in the long term, but it's going to suck in the short term. Loads of people who work for insurance companies will be out of a job. Sure, yes, in the long term we might even pay less in taxes for healthcare with a well-implemented single payer system (Canada pays less in taxes for healthcare per person than America does) but in the short term overhauling the system won't be cheap. Part of the problem here is that Canada implemented universal healthcare in the 40s-50s when health care costs were not high, so the price of a transition plan was also not high. Health care costs have been going up everywhere (including Canada and the US) so the cost of a transition plan is now massive.

And like...knowing what I know about Bernie, if he was running in Canada, he would probably still be demanding changes, running to the left of all other candidates. I don't really see him, if he was in the Canadian government, thinking "yeah, everything here is fine, the status quo is good, and we don't need to improve anything." That's not who he is.

So...yeah, he's left of the international center for sure, and purely as speculation, I imagine if the US didn't have such obvious issues that other countries had already fixed, that he would find other reforms to make and run further to the left.

I'm amused that after yesterday when Bloomberg was asked if 3rd would be a good finish, and he said well there's only three people running so 3rd is the lowest finish, only to be told that Elizabeth Warren was still in the race....

Even if she drops out now, sure looks like Warren got more delegates than Bloomberg.

California gets more representation in the Democratic Primary than in the Electoral College. I guess because there are more Democrats there.
I would assume because of the population, actually.

California is 10% of the electoral college, but 12% of the US population. California should be worth more than it is in the Electoral College.

But I've heard about Greta almost solely because because Trump (and a few other republicans) keep getting their panties in a bunch over Greta. How does the president of the US keep getting baited by a high schooler?

I mean, from what I've seen Republicans don't really care about contradicting themselves constantly, at least when it comes to AOC.

Id love to see Tulsi in a debate just to see what she SAYS
Every time she's been in a debate, she seems to come in not with a plan to promote herself, but with a plan to torpedo someone else.
