What are the theories on (Skin Game and Peace Talks spoilers) what the artifacts are that Harry got from the underworld vault, and what they do? Obviously the Holy Grail was there and Nicodemus has that still I believe. Harry's got the Shroud of Turin and Crown of Thorns for sure and the Shroud's effect is most likely healing/resurrection considering we already had a book about it, albeit a fake. But the dagger/athame and the placard, what would those be and what purpose could they serve, particularly since, IIRC, he's bringing them with him to fight Ethniu

I think the Athame/dagger is actually supposed to be the head of the spear of Longinus, which could certainly pack enough of a punch to get through Ethniu's armor or even drawing her blood - a way to hurt even the Divine/Titans, perhaps (though what the effects of using that will be is... interesting). As for the Placard, I don't have the foggiest idea. Heck, I would not be shocked if Harry has no idea what the heck it'll do.

So, just finished the first read-through last night. And... while I really liked it, I think I need to read Battle Ground before I really form a solid opinion of it. Because it really does feel like this was only the first part of a bigger book, and I want to see how the two flow together. Or, more importantly, play the "okay, what got added in this book that wasn't there when it was all one thing?" game. (I'm leaning towards the stuff with Murphy and Rudolph the Brown-Nosed Cop-Cop.)

But beyond that? I really did enjoy it, and why isn't it September already? >=/

In Small Favours, Mab thinks it's a Denarian, and Harry suspects it was Thorned Namshiel. I don't think it was confirmed.

I believe it was confirmed, actually; Mab suggests as much near the end, in the hospital chapel. It's also heavily implied that Thorned Namshiel was part of the Black Council, and that's who attacked Arctis Tor.

Yeah it's been a long while since the last book. Not Martin or Rothfuss long, but by far the longest gap this series has ever seen.

Also, just started Dead Beat. And is my memory wrong or is this book the last appearance of Mavra, even though she gets the Word of Kemmler at the end?

Nah, you're right, she hasn't appeared since. In part because Harry basically told her if he even got a whiff of her being back in town, or trying to move against him or Murphy, he'd use everything he learned from the Word of Kemmler to wreck her day. Or something.

Motherfuck's base stats are the exact same value as those of the official Pokmon it is a fusion of: its HP, Attack, Defense and Special Attack base stats are those of Graveler, its Special Defense base stat is that of Tentacool, and its Speed base stat is that of Golbat.

Attack: 95
Defense: 115
Special Attack: 45
Special Defense: 100
Speed: 90

Oh, it also has the Shadow Tag ability, preventing you from running away. Its four moves seem to be Destiny Bond, Spore, Explosion, and Perish Song.

Hmm... pyromancy is tempting, and necromancy would be useful for the inevitable zombie apocalypse, but blood magic might get me one step closer to being an Actual Vampire.
