Not talking about putting in your two week notice, im talking about quitting and leaving.

I quit once. I used to work in a call center, was honestly horrible. The place had almost no employee benefits, pay was bad, and they were up my ass about everything. My supervisor tried to write me up because I didn't offer a sale on a call. I told him to fuck off and I walked out.

Im so glad I didnt grow up in the era of online dating. Remember talking to a girl on the phone and you had absolutely no idea what she looked like until you meet her? This was back when dating actually forced you out of the house to go have a life. You want to meet a girl? You better put the Nintendo in the closet and get your ass to the skating rink! Some dude you dont know is having a party three towns over? Well if you plan on talking to a girl then you better gas up the car.

That isnt works, and it never worked that way. Go ahead, try going to a skating rink and talk to a random woman, let me know how it goes.

For those that just started using online dating, it actually used to be a viable way to meet women (prior to 2015). But now the algorithm is against your favor. Old OkCupid was set up really well, but ever since they made changes to their site, it's now far worse. Don't know why OkCupid thought it was a good idea to try copying tinder, but now all on my dating sites are the same and they all are not effective. If you can't meet women in person, you're basically screwed.

Whenever I go on dates or I'm trying to meet women at the bar, I always have sunglasses on. Reason being because I have "dead eyes" and I do have a creepy vibe to my face. Sunglasses are the only real way I can cover that up. I also tend to stare when I don't mean to, or I may not make eye contact when I'm nervous. Wearing sunglasses is the only way I can counteract that.

Yes, that means I wear them all the time when I date women. One woman 3 dates with, and she finally asked how my eyes look.

Theres no reason to ever share you were fired in an interview. Generally when they do a reference check with previous employers, its just to verify if you were employed within the dates you gave them.

Fair enough, perhaps I shouldn't mention that I was fired. I'm not what you mean by your first comment that you do extra work for people. To me I think it's wrong if the work belongs to someone else

Shitty situation. I was taken advantage of at my old job. I explained in an email additional stuff I was doing to setup a meeting to discuss my salary and was told by a manager we could have a meeting but no raise. So I rightfully resigned. Obviously you seem like you were heated and lashed out which I could have done also, but in the end your approach can play a role in landing another job.

You could lie and say nobody was doing the work their were assigned and it was being given to you cause you would do other people's work so you left the company. No need to say you were fired. It could back fire if they wanted to call the company to follow up.

Yeah sounds like you were being fucked. I would have resigned too. And yes I was heated - I tried to be patient with my boss at first, but she kept not listening to me, so naturally I raise my voice and I was a little rude.

It's the principle of it that bothers me. I don't know if the other workers that were lazy made more money than I did, but if they did it would have been an insult for me to do their work, because I'm not getting properly compensated for it.

So I'm trying to be a little bit more honest on my resume. I got fired from my last job because of a series of write-ups. First write up was because I was one minute late from lunch, second write-up was because I wore a hat once, and the final write-up was I was one minute late to work.

In theory, I could just tell the interviewer I was fired for those reasons.

However, that is not why I was really fired. My boss got pissed at me because she kept assigning tasks to me that were not my job, so one day I finally told her that I'm no longer doing tasks that are not my job. From there, she pretty much stopped communicating with me and started writing me up for unrelated reasons in order to get me fired ASAP. So really, I was fired because maybe I was a little rude and she was offended.

do I have to tell the interviewer what really happened, or can I just give them the textbook reasons?

I'm a binge eater who got up to 360 (at least, scale only went up to 350 and I know I gained a lot more after that point) but I've lost about 130 lbs in a little over two years. I've been "hungry" a lot but rarely truly hungry after I figured out the optimal meal plan for me.

Now, if I'm ever feeling "hungry," it's usually everything but actually needing food. It can be boredom, thirst/dehydration, sleepiness/tiredness, anxiety, depression, and a lot of other things I've used (consciously or subconsciously) as reasons to eat over the course of 20 years of obesity.

Like tonight, for example, I thought I was absolutely ravenous. I was so sure I needed to run downstairs and eat all the leftovers I have, even though I ate the appropriate amount for today. Upon reflection, I took note that it's Friday night, I'm stuck at home, I'm more than ready for bed, I'm frustrated and depressed because today was an important day for my family and we weren't able to get together, and I'm a little thirsty because I slacked on water intake for today. I know that this is not true hunger because - at least for me - I can't distract myself from the growling and cramping of being truly hungry. That will dog me until I get food in my stomach.

I'll have a glass of water or tea or some mints, or try to distract myself, but if I can determine that I'm truly hungry, I'll go ahead and have a modest snack because delaying it is more likely to trigger a binge in me. That's just me though.

You'll have to figure out all your habits, cues, triggers, etc. and learn the distinction. There have been a lot of good tips in this topic about what to do but it's important to know when to use them.

Since you said you tend to overindulge, my recommendation would be to get a kitchen scale and start weighing your food. It's not fun or easy but rigorous accountability was the only thing that worked for me when it came down to getting off the pounds that "common sense" choices like no soda, processed food, etc. couldn't. It eventually becomes second nature and you can start to eyeball things, though I still like to check myself against the scale because I'm the "give an inch, take a mile" type. I'm like a telecom company's bill: I'll start out with one amount and without even realizing it go way the fuck up.

Also, find a TDEE calculator or use a tracking app (I use cronometer and double check the entries against another source because some of their entries are wonky due to being crowdsourced) to figure out your daily calories and try to adhere to that. You don't have to go for a big deficit and even losing .5 to 1lb a week is great.

You can also figure out your maintenance calories and just stick to that because tbh being in a deficit all the time can take its toll. Figuring out that buffer zone to fall back on once I was fed up (heh) with being in a deficit was crucial. Where I used to just fall off the rails entirely, I can just coast. If you can't actively lose weight, not gaining any is the next best thing.

Very true, hunger can come from boredom too. Especially with the virus in the picture, there's more time sitting at home and doing nothing.

Learning to cook well will really help you optimise the nutritional value of the food you are eatin as it will allow you to sub out less healthy aspects of your food or waste calories. For instance I switched out my bottled cooking oil for an aerosol and given that I eat 90% of my food from a wok, I save myself hundreds of calories a day. You can season a protein a million different ways to keep it interesting. Also try cooking larger batches and refridgerating if you get cooking fatigue. That said, try not to get bogged down with the minute details. Yes, brown rice is healthier but its a tiny part of your diet. If you don't like it, stick with what you like. A sustainable diet has to be something you enjoy.

That's a difficult step for me, because I don't really like cooking. But I can see why it's important.

This is some good information, I appreciate you sharing your story with me

I have a question, what is the point of a kitchen scale? Me seem like a dumb question, but does it measure calories? I don't know how it would lol. Or does the only measure in ounces? How does it benefit you to measure in ounces? Something that weighs very few ounces could have a lot more calories than something that weighs a lot of ounces, right?

Seems like he's never been overweight before, and it's easier for him to eat what he wants to eat because of that. Does that sound right? Or am I way off?

You might have to adjust and do things like make smaller amounts or box leftovers BEFORE you eat or something to minimize the chance of getting seconds, but focus primarily in how he breaks down a meal into macros and how he fills those with healthy options that still taste good.

This is very true, I will almost always eat what I make, so if I make too much chances are I will eat it. This is a very good idea.

I don't think "calorie in calorie out" is the only element for losing weight. Being overweight happens because, yes you're eating too much calories, but also because you're not getting enough nutritional value from your food

Bluntly, the people who say this probably have severely restrictive taste. The kinds of people who exclusively drink soda because "water doesn't taste good."

Like... there are are a TON of healthy and filling options that you could stuff your face with all day if you wanted and still be under calories, but they're bland compared to something packed with 40g of sugar. A banana is about 100 calories, meaning you could eat 20 bananas in a day (aka more than 1 per waking hour) and still be running a calorie deficit. Who the hell would spend all day hungry after 20 bananas?

And yes, I know 20 bananas is a silly example, but like my first post pointed out, you can swap things like one cookie, one soda, or one candy bar for a whole variety of food that would fill your stomach for the same number of calories.

silly question, but is 50 calories from an apple the same as 50 calories from an egg?

You might also want to consider high fiber fruits and veggies. Whenever I start to feel hungry, an apple or pear will really curb that hunger until the next meal and is significantly healthier than a handful or two of chips.

You can also consider eating nuts - but you gotta be careful because they are surprisingly high in calories and fats. Still great in moderation tho!

Yep I do have apples and unsalted peanuts. Plan to put them to use if I get hungry at all

I tried the oatmeal, cooked it the way I was supposed to and ate the portion that I was supposed to. Although it wasn't bad, it didn't taste super amazing. Honestly it didn't really have a taste. But it wasn't affecting me negatively either.

Oatmeal is one of those things you can really experiment with. Consider putting in fresh blueberries, or cinnamon. You can really make oatmeal taste amazing without having to do very much.

Yeah I meant to put something in the oatmeal. I used steel cut oats and unsweetened almond milk. It was very bland, but I do plan on putting bananas in there and maybe some other things.

The point of diets is to provide your body with nutrition, not deprive it. So no it's not normal to feel hungry often, or right after a meal. That means you're eating foods that are nutrient-sparse.

The most filling foods are ones with fibrous carbs, followed by proteins. A whole plate of chicken breast, broccoli and rice should make you full for a long time.

That's definitely good to know. It's just tough because I am reducing my calorie intake. I feel like in some way I am going to go hungry at least once.

I have another question

Is it acceptable to eat food that you don't necessarily like? Might be a dumb question, but here's two examples

I bought two foods that never really had before: oatmeal and beet juice.

I tried the oatmeal, cooked it the way I was supposed to and ate the portion that I was supposed to. Although it wasn't bad, it didn't taste super amazing. Honestly it didn't really have a taste. But it wasn't affecting me negatively either.

And then at the beet juice. I drank some of that, and it was the grossest shit I've ever had, I thought I was going to vomit. I couldn't even drink the whole cup, I dumped the rest out.

So as you can see, one food I think is bad, the other drink I think is awful. So I'm probably going to continue eating the oatmeal, and stop drinking the beet juice.

Let's say, you're overweight, your calorie intake is way too much, you're not taking in enough nutrients - so you take the normal steps. Diet and exercise.

But, inevitably you're going to be consuming less calories. Therefore you're naturally going to be hungry. Is this normal? Is this okay? should you just power through the hunger and continue eating during your scheduled meals? Or should you eat something?

Little protein content. Soy is better for protein

this is true, almond milk is missing some nutrients that you would get from cow milk or other milks
