New fan or old fan? Combat systems at the time was the norm for most RPGs due to how they had to get it to work; PS1 wasn't overly powerful on processing high action unless it was a straight up action game and even then those games had issues.

I try not to knock it down for that because "you had to be there" kind of deal with PS1 games; that is why I think they added those speed boosters for the remasters.
I played it at the time and also recently (well about 3 years ago) and whilst at the time it was alright (but still kinda slow!) these days it's just too much of a chore. I think square(enix) realised this was the case with 7, 8 & 9 so like you say the boosters were added but imo 9 really does need it. Sort of in the same way 12 needed it. Not so much for 7 & 8 but still nice to have.

I disagree personally, because of the (imo) dreadful combat, but it definitely had great characters and story (for the most part anyway). I know the devs loved going back to the series roots with it. Good soundtrack too.

Most people can differentiate real life from pornography.
Except they can't, which is why there is such a skewed sense of what sex, relationships and women should be like. Especially amongst the young.

I don't think it should be banned but there does need to be education to combat unrealistic or toxic expectations.

Two things I can take from this thread. One, having a police force that is less a police force and more a paramilitary is a problem. Two, dollar bills need updating to more modern anti counterfeit standards and the old bills taken out of circulation.

Nothing really wrong with it but people rush into it then wonder why it's not working a year later. It's only sensible to live with someone for a few years before committing because once that initial lust phase wears off do you truly love them and love being with them? Do you really want to spend the rest of your life with them? It's a massive commitment that I think is approached far too casually.

Also couples need to do what they want to do - not what others think and not what society expects them to do.

Ah ok well I agree that testing for every job going is pointless and should be abolished. Certain jobs should have testing of course but if you're going to be in an office then I don't get it.

They do, I mentioned that.

I do want some clarification though, being a non American, when these tests are being applied. Do you mean like for nearly every job or just for ones that really require it e.g. truck drivers etc? Because if it's for everything then I agree that it is pointless.

Whether it's legal or not is irrelevant. No business wants employees high or drunk at work. Legalisation isn't the removal of responsibility.

TopicCE do you believe in WORLD POPULATION issues?

I believe it is overpopulated. It's all very well saying "it can support 12 billion" but the question is should it have to? At what cost? Do we cut down all the rainforests for farmland? Do we cram a 100 million at a time into megacities?

That all sounds dystopian to me. People need space. We live closer and more connected than ever but people are increasingly reclusive. I'm not surprised.

We are already a verminous plague on this earth. At some point it will boil over, not in our lifetimes but eventually, if we don't control population growth, things will get really bad imho.

My two cents on the issue.

Good luck to them.

I think what some have said is true in that they were around for an extremely long time - if prof. google is correct - about 170 million years and no sort of higher intelligence ever developed. In comparison, human ancestry goes back a mere 6 million with a fraction of that, about 200k years, being modern humans.

I think this leads us on to another question - is intelligence seen as the "endgame" here? I don't think it is. I mean, having large brain's isn't very efficient biologically. How it even happened for humans in the first place is kinda baffling but here we are.

Perhaps it could have happened eventually but I don't think in all probability it ever would have done because it just wouldn't be necessary or efficient to develop that way.

Still, a t-rex in a top hat is funny to think about!
