Inting means international feeding, a strategy used in the game that involves you dying on purpose to put your teammates at a disadvantage

So I haven't played League of Legends, but I played Dota 2 some years ago. I've never heard it called "inting" but I know of the concept by the description. It stands for intentional feeding, not international feeding. And I wouldn't really call it a strategy since it doesn't help you win the game. It's just a method trolls use to ruin games where they think their team mates are bad. The intent is to make your team lose.

When Half-Life 2 came out, I bought the Valve collection through Steam. That was 2004. Sometime after that I bought the first non-Valve game on Steam, Rag Doll Kung Fu. It was fun for maybe five minutes and then I had buyer's remorse that was so strong I remember the game title after all these years. I can't remember what my next purchase was, probably another Valve game, I think it took a while before they added anymore non-Valve titles to Steam.

Checking the license page:

Nov 6, 2008 Left 4 Dead Steam Store
Jan 2, 2008 Zen of Sudoku Steam Store
Sep 12, 2007 The Orange Box Complimentary
Jun 3, 2007 Red Orchestra Complimentary
Apr 5, 2007 Dark Messiah Might and Magic Limited Retail Complimentary
May 2, 2006 Half-Life 2: Episode One Complimentary
Oct 7, 2005 Rag Doll Kung Fu Complimentary
Nov 16, 2004 Half-Life 2 Silver Complimentary

It says Half-life 2 Silver, I don't know what was in the Gold edition that I didn't get. I'm pretty sure it added all Valve games that existed on Steam as of November 2004 to my collection. Maybe the gold edition sent you physical copies. I think these early complimentary entries are before the system recorded the source of your purchase. I bought all of these in the Steam Store except Dark Messiah.

Stay the fuck in the Shire.

But Sharkey's Men take over the Shire and ruin it before our heroes return and start a rebellion.

also everyone looks like they did in the movies. so basically you are in the Peter Jackson LOTR cinematic universe. except now it's real. using your memories of the movies, what would you do?

Oh... well that's no fun. What am I supposed to do with all this book-purist knowledge? Oh I know, overly interrogate your scenario's premise!

you get hit by a car and then next thing you know, you open your eyes as a baby Hobbit in The Shire. you quickly learn you live just a few houses down from Frodo Baggins, who was born on the same day as you.

A few houses down from Frodo Baggins? So I was born in Buckland? Frodo was a Baggins but his father, Drogo Baggins, moved out to Buckland to live with his wife, Primula Brandybuck.

Frodo was raised in Brandy Hall in Buckland. That's the ancestral home of the Brandybucks burrowed into the side of Buck Hill. "A few houses down" doesn't really make much sense when talking about someone that lives in a large isolated Hobbit-hole mansion. Do I also live in Brandy Hall? That would mean I have significant Brandybuck lineage and would make me Frodo's cousin in some regard.

Maybe you mean I live in Buckleberry the chief village of Buckland that sits in the shadow of Buck Hill? So I might not have any Brandybuck lineage. What about other famous Hobbit family lineage, like Baggins or Tooks? I need more information to grasp my capabilities. A commoner Hobbit will have much less options than one from a great family.

I'd probably try to avoid allowing Drogo and Primula to drown in the river when Frodo is 12 years old. I'd feel like a bit of an ass if I let them die such a preventable fashion. However, if Frodo's parents survive their fateful boating accident, this could have considerable ramifications if Bilbo never adopts Frodo as his heir. Feel like an ass or doom the world, decisions, decisions.

I'd try to speak to Gandalf whenever he visited the Shire. Using my knowledge to convince him I know things I couldn't possibly know, I'd gain his trust and point out that Bilbo's ring is the One Ring. Might give him a 30-40 year head start on Sauron and the War of the Ring if he doesn't spend 14 years searching for evidence after Bilbo leaves the Ring to Frodo. Then maybe a smaller Fellowship consisting of Gandalf, Aragorn, Bilbo, and maybe Elrond's sons could set off much earlier and take the Ring to Mount Doom before the war even starts.

On the other hand, maybe Gandalf would convince me that letting things play out the way they should since I already know it ends well is the best course of action. Despite not altering his actions, Gandalf would still gain an incredible foresight into future events and that they ultimately play out as they should. And with this bizarre twist, his prophetic behavior stems from talking with the reincarnated mind of a futurist more than his nature as an immortal spirit. Yeah, that totally makes sense.

Since I've got this immense foresight, I might as well use it for something innocuous. I could stick some crazy futuristic prediction into the Red Book of Westmarch so that when Tolkien translates it into English, it inadvertently predicts something. How about I alter the number of Rings of Power so they reflect the year Tolkien died. Just eerie enough that people would question it, but with no appreciable effect on modern day history.

Now I just have to decide what I would do when Sharkey's Men show up in the Shire. Maybe just move to one of the Bree-land villages before Frodo sets off and spend that year away from the turmoil in the Shire.

TopicWhat are some straight up 2D platformer action games that aren't metroid/rogue?

Celeste. Though a couple places it does have a hub with branching paths you need to explore to find the path to progress, sometimes multiple paths will lead to progress. So it starts to feel slightly metroid-like in those places, but for the most part it is strictly linear. It isn't that action focused with enemies to avoid or dispatch. It does have a few sections with enemies, but for the most part it's just platforming challenge. And it was really recent, like past two years recent. Just had a free update a few months ago that added a whole new chapter.

Looking back farther, I'd probably reach for VVVVVV. Yes, it isn't super linear, there's a whole explorable overworld and you can tackle each of the zones in any order you find them. But each zone is fairly linear on its own. Of course the hidden collectibles that encourage exploring and revisting zones makes it more metroid-like which you seem to want to avoid. The flipping instead of jumping might make it feel too different from a normal platformer, but I enjoyed it.

Any other platformer I played recently was definitely metroidvania.
