Disagree. I also feel like we should probably define what we mean by conservative.

I wouldn't say conservativism = republican for example

I also agree with this. Trump is conservative in only a select few ways. He wants to grow government power just like Liberals, just in different ways.

if you look on the campaign Kennedy ran, he was more "conservative" than any republican who ran the last 20 years.

It's one of those genres where you either play all of them or never play them.

I like any genre as long as it's good. I really like Dota 2, so I'm a little familar with the concept of RTS games and the basic controls on PC, but I've played Warcaft 3's campaign for a total of 10 minutes before I just started playing custom games and Dota 1....so, my knowledge on the genre is limited.

My friend recommended Star Wars: Empire at War as I love Star Wars so it'll make it easier to get into. I also got the "Republic At War" mod that apparently increases complexity, strategy and depth, and also increases the games scale. This turned me on so much that tonight is the night I sit down and learn to play an RTS.

What should I be aware of? Anyone play this game?

This is the study many articles making similar claims cite:

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamacardiology/fullarticle/2763524?resultClick=1.

The article you posted is citing a study that's "not complete", so we'll talk about the study I just showed you, and so far it's the only one I can find where they measured "lasting effects"... Everyone with lung damage was really old and most of them already had complications. Even within the study they don't mention "permanent" damage, as in you know it's only been months if not only weeks at the time of the study. This was done in China. So, pay attention to the wording in the NS link you posted.... 15% to 20% of people that needed INTENSIVE CARE....which is like 3% of people that contract the virus...15 to 20% of THAT are having problems 3 months down the line. These are not turn off your life, never leave the house numbers. I'm sorry, they just aren't, at least not to me.

So idk it looks silly to me when people claim that you're "risking your life eating at a restaurant" and it's like...well, that's for them to decide. I really don't think it's as risky and stupid as you are claiming.

So it's a small percentage of the worst cases. To me, this does not seem out of the ordinary for viral infections like say...the flu in January on the elderly population. But this is my opinion based on data.

Yeah man the most prestigious scientific journals say they work but according to you only non-scientific sources say that. That the countries that have used them from the start have the death rates 1/100th of the West and just happen to have a mask wearing culture are nothing but coincidences. Why are Westerners so obsessed with hating masks? What is even the benefit of pushing this conspiracy?

I'd love to see those prestigious scientific journals. The main reason I'm against them is because it basically will keep people in fear if healthy people everywhere are wearing masks. I also have asthma and have to wear one at work, and my doc's like, yeah in many cases masks are detrimental to the health of someone and it certainly applies to me. 8 hours a day while moving around a lot....the fact is, you're getting less oxygen in your blood and that's simply not good. After a busy shift I literally feel like i'm hungover, it's the same effect. The best thing you can do to keep yourself safe is take vitamins, diet, exercise and get outside in the sun. But the narrative is still "stay in as much as possible". I've never seen Dr. Fauci mention ANYTHING about keeping a healthy routine in your private life and that's puzzling. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact many supplements aren't controlled by big pharma <_<...I think most people aren't anti science. They don't trust a government program funded by an anti-population zillionaire. I don't think that makes them stupid or crazy.

Most scientists knew masks worked. Early on Nature published a paper on the effectiveness of masks against Coronavirus from University of Hong Kong. This was before it became a big problem in most of the West. The anti-mask thing wasn't coming from scientists actually studying the virus, it was coming from Western culture. The belief in Western superiority cost a lot of lives, because the idea that the things East Asian countries are doing might actually work was too much to accept. They even claimed Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. were lying about their numbers and secretly had tons of dead people. It wasn't until recently that they've finally begun accepting they actually did things effectively, but studies have been coming out this entire time on the effectiveness of masks.

There is actually very little evidence anywhere to support that masks help stop the spread of the virus. The virus is way, way, way, way smaller than the thread gaps in a cloth mask or bandanna, for example. So if you cough with a mask on, it's still getting everywhere. Even if the mask blocks some "water droplets"---your breath can still carry viruses through it. Unless you have a plastic surgical mask. The best study I found in support of masks is the one linked in this very "scientific" Vanity Fair article....

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/05/masks-covid-19-infections-would-plummet-new-study-says

This article links us to a study that's not peer reviewed, did not measure anything about the virus but rather water droplets coming from a persons mouth. And somehow they have this 80% statistic. If you wonder why the American people are weary about science, that's not really the case....people are weary of the news twisting science.

Here are several articles showing masks don't help--and often make healthy people more immune compromised, especially if they work in food or retail where they *must* wear masks on all day.

https://www.rcreader.com/commentary/masks-dont-work-covid-a-review-of-science-relevant-to-covide-19-social-policy

Not a peep about this research on Forbes, though, eh?

Here's another article here showing how media can exaggerate the effects of the virus:

https://abcnews.go.com/Health/coronavirus-long-term-effects/story?id=69811566

Talks about he lasting effects of a persons health after recovering the virus. They make it seem like anyone who gets the virus could have lasting brain, heart or lung damage. What the article doesn't MENTION AT ALL is that the average age of person studied is in their 50's, and ALL of the people who had so called "lasting effects" (which, not sure how they arrived at this given that the study was done in March) were over 70 with pre-existing conditions, like heart problems, diabetes, etc. To find this information you have to find the study and read it yourself. Amazing how the article mentions nothing of the age of the subjects. OH and the age of persons affected with "lasting effects", even among the elderly, was low.

At any rate, it should be common knowledge that what we had was an overreaction. It's absolutely baffling why they locked healthy people up for months only to completely open up anyway, complete with arbitrary restrictions that killed the small business. It's naive to think those in power didn't use this to expand that power. Who made out like a bandit on this? Government got to make more people dependent on them, which will let them expand their power. Fast food chains miraculously all had their delivery/remote ordering programs in place in the past year and are LOVING that all of their walk-in competition is essentially dead. Walmart/Amazon/Media (mainly gaming) companies had some of their best numbers.

You can't just believe the "official CNN.COM" story any more, and that's not anti-science...in fact, in my opinion, it's very pro science.

Im pretty sure there was already a thing in my state at least? Anti-discrimination laws?

There is an idea that's beneath this, however, that makes it a kind of moral quandary.....An independent business can have whatever policies they want, even if they are bigoted because it's the private ownership of one person or persons. It's the same principle that says they are allowed to think and say whatever they want, and practice any ideology they want. This can work because people are allowed to boycott/protest a business. I just saw a great example in my city...a "conservative" flower shop wrote up a drunken facebook post that attacked Lutherans, minorities and democrats (lol). The town found out, blasted the owners facebook and basically shut the place down. The government didn't need to intervene.

I'm afraid the precedence of this bill will allow for more government intervention in how people are hired in the workplace, giving business owners less control and the government more power. An example would be forcing "equality of outcome" on a business, which means you're ethnicity/sexuality is taken into consideration to meet a quota instead of the most skilled person getting the job. I don't think that's a good thing and it's definitely the way this is heading. Long story short, I hope this doesn't get abused to justify laws that cross the line.

Im pretty sure this was going to happen, no matter when we reopened. It doesn't just completely vanish. And the summer heat is the best time to get "sick". Immune systems are at their strongest. We would have had to wait until next summer to open up again realistically and that's just not realistic--it could cause a complete collapse .

I absolutely think this wasn't too early and it's pretty easy to see why summer would be the best option.

But, it seems hospitals are handling it better and that's what we are worried about. Making sure if elderly get it then can get care. People need to be taking vitamins and giving themselves the best shot, specifically the elderly.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/08/health/coronavirus-shutdowns-effective-study-wellness-bn/index.html

If large-scale shutdown policies -- such as ordering people to stay home and closing schools -- were not implemented after the coronavirus pandemic reached the United States, there would be roughly 60 million more coronavirus infections across the nation, a new modeling study suggests.
The study, published Monday in the scientific journal Nature, involved a modeling technique typically used for estimating economic growth to measure the effect of shutdown policies across six countries: China, South Korea, Italy, Iran, France and the United States.
Those estimates suggest that, without certain policies in place from the beginning of the pandemic in January through early April, there would be roughly:
* 285 million more total infections in China
* 38 million more total infections in South Korea
* 49 million more total infections in Italy
* 54 million more total infections in Iran
* 45 million more total infections in France
* 60 million more total infections in the United States

"A new modeling study suggests"

Didn't modeling studies suggest 2 million deaths even after lockdown?

A computer model is in now way indicative of reality in this scenario. Also; we don't even know how many people were actually infected and we also don't even really know how many people directly died from it.

Interesting tho

Well for one it, is.

And two, the number of assumed deaths are nowhere near to the point of having a significant discrepancy in actual deaths and are likely a wash when you factor in those who died from it but weren't tested nor assumed to have died from it.

You have absolutely nothing to back that claim. Like there is nothing that supports this. If anything financial incentive for hospitals to inflate Covid deaths combined with the fact most of their revenue is gone makes the data extremely murky. There is also the coincidence that as soon as testing became more widespread hospitals started reported less deaths . I'm not understanding why it's out of line to question this data. Its almost as if people want the virus to be deadly. Even mainstream experts are saying it was not the epidemic we thought...

This not true. Were there zero pneumonia deaths and flue deaths then? We can actually test for flu.

I'm sure that's the case some of the time and they were added to "assumed" deaths, but again, due to lack of testing and financial incentive to list Covid symptoms...this not a conspiracy. Its like, on their website and plenty of doctors have been outspoken on the conflict of interest. The data is not good.

Does nobody in this topic look at CDC stats? Death toll is inflated.....even CDC marks its "death" stat with an asterisk pointing out that it includes confirmed cases that passed away and "assumed deaths"

Why nobody brings this up I dont know. The death toll could be orders of magnitude smaller than is being reported evidenced by the fact world wide deaths have only increased 1% over last year....and deaths year to year tend to have a 1-3% varience. This is all on the CDC website. Also keep in mind due to legislation passed in reaction to Covid 19, hospitals are awarded money the more Covid cases they have, so that seems like a conflict right there.

Man what a guy. He's gonna pay every racist he finds $100 to stop being racist. Money CAN solve this problem.

I believe that police will be held more accountable for their actions. Every officer should now understand that injustice can lead to nationwide riots all because of a power trip. I hope this weeds out the bad eggs.

As much as I hate violence, and as sad as it is to hear innocent people getting hurt and lives destroyed, I hope that some good comes out of this.

I am afraid if the violent riots continue that the opposite effect will occur due to the general public's fear for their safety...--- Police State, people living in fear, something like the culture in V for Vendetta...hope we avoid that...

As a person with family in the Police force, it's incredibly hard to eliminate bad eggs due to unions. Especially on State forces from what I understand.

Hopefully good things come out of this and there is better screening/accountability.

Cops in some parts of the country are joining the protests that are peaceful.

I mean that makes a grown man tear up right there.

It's a shame the real cause of our "oppression" isn't even a government office but a private banking institution.

People are protesting at the cop shop (courthouse) and on the bridge into town and cops are literally giving protesters thumbs up and honking.

It's a bit surreal but small town cops are different.
